Genesis 11 — Novel English Bible

The whole aratz (Earth/land) was of achad (one) shapah (language) and of achad (one) dabar (word / matter).

It happened, as they traveled qadam (east), that they matzaa (found) a baqaih (plain) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Shanair (Shinar), and they lived there.

They amar (said) ayash (man / husband) to rai (neigbor/another person), “yahab (come), let's laban (make) labanayam (bricks), and sharap (burn) them thoroughly.” They had labanah (brick) for aban (stone), and they used tar for mortar.

They amar (said), “yahab (come), let's banah (build) ourselves a iyar (city), and a magadal (tower) whose raash (head) reaches to the sky, and let's ishah (make) ourselves a sham (name), lest we be pawatz (scattered) abroad on the surface of the whole aratz (Earth/land).”

Yahawah () yarad (came) down to raah (see) the iyar (city) and the magadal (tower), which the banay (children) of adam (men) banah (build).

Yahawah () amar (spoke), “Behold, they are achad (one) im (nation / people), and they have all achad (one) shapah (language), and this is what they chalal (begin) to ishah (make). Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to ishah (make).

Yahab (come), naradah (lets) go down, and there confuse their shapah (language), that they may not shamai (hearken / hear) ayash (man / husband) rai (neigbor/another person) shapah (speech).”

So Yahawah () pawatz (scattered) them abroad from there on the surface of all the aratz (Earth/land). They stopped banah (build) the iyar (city).

Therefore its qaraa (called) was called Babal (Babel), because there Yahawah () confused the shapah (language) of all the aratz (Earth/land). From there, Yahawah () pawatz (scattered) them pawatz (abroad) on the surface of all the aratz (Earth/land).
