1 Achar (other) these things the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () hayah (came to pass) to Abaram (Abram) in a machazah (vision), amar (spoke), “Don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid), Abaram (Abram). I am your magan (shield), your maad (exceedingly) rabah (great) shakar (reward).”
2 Abaram (Abram) amar (spoke), “Adanay () Yahawah (), what will you nathan (give) me, since I halak (move) irayaray (childless), and he who will inherit my estate is Alayaizar (Eliezer) of Damashaq (Damascus)?”
3 Abaram (Abaram) amar (said), “Behold, to me you nathan (give) given no zarai (seed): and, behold, one ban (son) in my bayath (house) is my heir.”
4 Behold, the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came to him, amar (spoke), “This yarash (man) will not be your heir, but he who will yatzaa (go out / come out) out of your own body will be your heir.”
5 Yahawah () brought him outside, and amar (spoke), “nabat (look) now toward the sky, and sapar (book) the kawakabayam (stars), if you are yakal (able) to sapar (book) them.” He amar (spoke) to Abaram (Abram), “So shall your zarai (seed) be.”
6 He aman (believed / had faith) in Yahawah (); and He chashab (reckoned) it to him for tzadaqah (righteousness).
7 He amar (spoke) to him, “I am Yahawah () who yatzaa (go out / come out) you out of Awar (Ur) of the Kashaday (Chaldees), to nathan (give) you this aratz (Earth/land) to yarash (inherit) it.”
8 He amar (spoke), “Adanay () Yahawah (), mah (how) yadai (will) I know that I will yarash (inherit) it?”
9 He amar (said) to him, “laqach (take / seize) me a igalah (heifer) shalash (three) years old, a female iz (goat) shalash (three) years old, a ayal (ram) shalash (three) years old, a turtledove, and a gawazal (young) pigeon.”
10 He laqach (take / seize) him all of these, and bathar (divided) them in the thawak (midst), and nathan (give) ayash (man / husband) half opposite the other; but he didn't bathar (divide) the tzapawar (birds).
11 The iyat (birds) of prey yarad (came) down on the carcasses, and Abaram (Abaram) nashab (drove) them away.
12 When the shamash (sun) was bawaa (bring) down, a tharadamah (deep) sleep napal (fall / be cast down) on Abaram (Abaram). Now ayamah (terror) and gadawal (very great/important/mighty) chashakah (darkness) napal (fall / be cast down) on him.
13 And He amar (said) to Abaram (), “Yadai (Know), yadai (know) — that surely your zarai (seed/descendants) will chayay (live) as gar (strangers) in an aratz (land) that is laa (not) theirs, and will ibad (serve) them. They will inah (oppress) the ath (entirety) of them for arabai (four) maah (hundred) shanah (years).
14 And indeed, the ath (entirety) of that gaway (nation) ashar (who) they ibad (serve) — I will dayan (judge). And afterwards, for kan (sure), they will yatzaa (come) out with gadawal (great) rakawash (wealth).
15 but athah (you) will go to your ab (fathers) in shalawam (peace/safety) — You will be qabar (buried) at a ripe, shayabah (old) yawamay (age).
16 And in the rabayaiy (fourth) dawar (generation) they will shawab (return) here — for surely the iwan (guilt)/iwan (iniquity) of the Amaray (Amorite) is laa (not) yet complete.”
17 It came to pass that, when the shamash (sun) bawaa (bring) down, and it was ilatah (dark), behold, a ishan (smoking) thanawar (furnace), and a ash (fire) lapayad (torch) ibar (pass over/through) bayan (between) these gazarayam (pieces).
18 In that yawam (day) Yahawah () karath (cut) a barayath (covenant) with Abaram (Abram), amar (spoke), “To your zarai (seed) I nathan (give) given this aratz (Earth/land), from the nahar (river) of Matzarayam (Egypt) to the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) nahar (river), the nahar (river) Parath (Euphrates):
19 The Qayanay (Kenites), the Qanazay (Kenizzites), the Qadamanay (Kadmonites),
20 The Chathay (Hittites), the Parazay (Perizzites), the Rapaa (Rephaim),
21 The Amaray (Amaray / Amorite), the Kanainay (Canaanite), the Garagashay (Girgashites), and the Yabawasay (Jebusites).”
