Genesis 26 — Novel English Bible

There was a raib (famine) in the aratz (Earth/land), bad (besides) the raashawan (first) raib (famine) that was in the yamay (days) of Abaraham (Abraham - Patriarch). Yatzachaq (Isaac) yalak (went) to Abayamalak (Abimelech) malak (king) of the Palashathay (Philistines), to Garar (Gerar).

Yahawah () raah (see) to him, and amar (spoke), “Don't yarad (go) down into Matzarayam (Egypt). Live in the aratz (Earth/land) I will amar (spoke) you about.

Live in this aratz (Earth/land), and I will be with you, and will barak (blessed) you. For to you, and to your zarai (seed), I will nathan (give) all these aratzath (lands), and I will qawam (rise up) the shabawaih (oath) which I shabai (swear / take oath) to Abaraham (Abraham - Patriarch) your ab (father).

I will rabah (multiply) your zarai (seed) as the kawakabay (stars) of the sky, and will nathan (give) to your zarai (seed) all these aratzath (lands). In your zarai (seed) will all the gawayay (nations) of the aratz (Earth/land) be barak (blessed),

Iqab (award / effect after the cause) Abaraham (Abraham - Patriarch) shamai (hearken / hear) my qawal (sound / voice), and shamar (keep/guard) my requirements, my matzawah (commandments), my chaqah (statutes), and my thawarah (Torah / Instruction).”

Yatzachaq (Isaac) lived in Garar (Gerar).

The anashay (men) of the maqawam (place) shaal (asked) him about his ayashah (woman / wife). He amar (said), “She is my achawath (sister),” for he was yaraa (fear / be afraid) to amar (said), “My ayashah (woman / wife)”, lest, he thought, “the anashay (men) of the maqawam (place) might harag (kill) me for Rabaqah (Rebekah), because she is tawab (good / proper function) to maraah (look) at.”

It happened, when he had been there a arak (long) yawam (day), that Abayamalak (Abimelech) malak (king) of the Palashathay (Philistines) shaqap (looked) out at a chalawan (window), and raah (see / saw), and, behold, Yatzachaq (Isaac) was caressing Rabaqah (Rebekah), his ayashah (woman / wife).

Abayamalak (Abimelech) qaraa (called) Yatzachaq (Isaac), and amar (said), “Behold, ak (surely) she is your ayashah (woman / wife). Why did you amar (said), ‘She is my achawath (sister)?’” Yatzachaq (Isaac) amar (said) to him, “Because I amar (said), ‘Lest I mawath (death) because of her.’”

Abayamalak (Abimelech) amar (said), “What is this you ishah (make) done to us? Achad (one) of the im (nation / people) might easily have shakab (lain) with your ayashah (woman / wife), and you would bawaa (bring) brought asham (guilt) on us!”

Abayamalak (Abimelech) tzawah (commanded) all the im (nation / people), amar (said), “He who touches this ayash (man / husband) or his ayashah (woman / wife) will mawath (death) be put to mawath (death).”

Yatzachaq (Isaac) zarai (sowed) in that aratz (Earth/land), and reaped in the same shanah (year) one maah (hundred) times what he planted. Yahawah () barak (blessed) him.

The ayash (man / husband) gadal (grew) great, and gadal (grew) more and more until he became very gadal (great).

He had maqanah (possessions) of tzaan (flocks), maqanah (possessions) of baqar (morning), and a rab (great) ibadah (household). The Palashathay (Philistines) qanaa (jealous) him.

Now all the baarath (wells) which his ab (father) ibaday (servant of) had chapar (dug) in the yamay (days) of Abaraham (Abraham - Patriarch) his ab (father), the Palashathay (Philistines) had satham (stopped), and malaa (filled) with ipar (earth).

Abayamalak (Abimelech) amar (said) to Yatzachaq (Isaac), “yalak (go) from us, for you are much itzam (mightier) than we.”

Yatzachaq (Isaac) departed from there, chanah (encamped) in the nachal (stream / river) of Garar (Gerar), and lived there.

Yatzachaq (Isaac) chapar (dug) again the baarath (wells) of mayam (Waters), which they had chapar (dug) in the yamay (days) of Abaraham (Abraham - Patriarch) his ab (father). For the Palashathay (Philistines) had satham (stopped) them achar (other) the mawath (death) of Abaraham (Abraham - Patriarch). He qaraa (called) their shamawath (names) after the shamawath (names) by which his ab (father) had qaraa (called) them.

Yatzachaq (Isaac) ibaday (servant of) chapar (dug) in the nachal (stream / river), and matzaa (found) there a baar (well) of chay (life) mayam (Waters).

The herdsmen of Garar (Gerar) argued with Yatzachaq (Isaac) herdsmen, amar (said), “The mayam (Waters) is ours.” He qaraa (called) the sham (name) of the baar (well) Ishaq (Esek), because they contended with him.

They chapar (dug) achar (other) baar (well), and they argued over that, also. He qaraa (called) its name Shatanah (Sitnah).

He ithaq (left) that place, and chapar (dug) achar (other) baar (well). They didn't argue over that one. He qaraa (called) it Rachabawath (Rehoboth). He amar (spoke), “For ithah (now / present moment) Yahawah () has rachab (made) room for us, and we will be parah (fruitful) in the aratz (Earth/land).”

He ilah (go up / offer) up from there to Baar-Shabai (Beersheba).

Yahawah () raah (see) to him the same layal (night), and amar (spoke), “I am the Alahayam () of Abaraham (Abraham) your ab (father). Don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid), for I am with you, and will barak (blessed) you, and rabah (multiply) your zarai (seed) for my ibad (servant) Abaraham (Abraham's) sake.”

He banah (build) an mazabach (altar) there, and qaraa (called) on the sham (name) of Yahawah (), and natah (pitched) his ahal (tent) there. There Yatzachaq (Isaac's) ibaday (servants) karah (dug) a baar (well).

Then Abayamalak (Abimelech) halak (move) to him from Garar (Gerar), and Achazath (Ahuzzath) his marai (friend), and Payakal (Phicol) the shar (prince / ruler) of his tzabaa (troop).

Yatzachaq (Isaac) amar (said) to them, “madawai (for what reason?) Bawaa (bring) you come to me, since you shanaa (hate) me, and have shalach (send) me away from you?”

They amar (spoke), “We raah (see) plainly that Yahawah () was with you. We amar (spoke), ‘Let there now be an alah (curse / oath) bayan (between) us, even bayan (between) us and you, and let us karath (cut) a barayath (covenant) with you,

That you will ishah (make) us no rai (harm), as we have not nagai (touched) you, and as we ishah (make) done to you raq (concept: what comes out / spittle) but tawab (good / proper function), and have shalach (send) you away in shalawam (peace / safety).’ You are ithah (now / present moment) the barak (blessed) of Yahawah ().”

He ishah (make) them a mashathah (feast), and they akal (eat) and shathah (drinks).

They shakam (rose) up some time in the baqar (morning), and shabai (swear / take oath) ayash (man / husband) to ach (brother/kinsman). Yatzachaq (Isaac) shalach (send) them away, and they departed from him in shalawam (peace / safety).

It happened the same yawam (day), that Yatzachaq (Isaac) ibaday (servant of) bawaa (bring), and nagad (told) him awadawath (concerning) the baar (well) which they had chapar (dug), and amar (said) to him, “We matzaa (have) found mayam (Waters).”

He qaraa (called) it “Shabaih (Shibah)”. Therefore the sham (name) of the iyar (city) is “Baar-Shabai (Beersheba)” to this yawam (day).

When Ishaw (Esau) was arabaiyam (forty) shanah (years) ban (son), he laqach (take / seize) as ayashah (woman / wife) Yahawadayath (Judith), the banath (daughter) of Baaray (Beeri) the Chathay (Hittite), and Bashamath (Basemath), the banath (daughter) of Ayalawan (Elon) the Chathay (Hittite).

They grieved Yatzachaq (Isaac) and Rabaqah (Rebekah's) rawach (spirit / wind).
