1 Dayanah (Dinah), the banath (daughter) of Laah (Leah), whom she yalad (birth / begot) to Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch), yatzaa (go out / come out) out to raah (see / saw) the banawath (daughters) of the aratz (Earth/land).
2 Shakam (Shechem) the ban (son) of Chamawar (Hamor) the Chaway (Hivite), the nashayaa (prince) of the aratz (Earth/land), raah (see / saw) her. He laqach (take / seize) her, shakab (lay) with her, and inah (answer / respond) her.
3 His napash (soul) dabaq (joined) to Dayanah (Dinah), the banath (daughter) of Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch), and he ahab (love) the nairah (young) lady, and dabar (word / matter) lab (heart) to the nairah (young) lady.
4 Shakam (Shechem) amar (said) to his ab (father), Chamawar (Hamor), amar (said), “laqach (take / seize) me this young lady as a ayashah (woman / wife).”
5 Now Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) shamai (hearken / hear) that he had tamaa (defiled) Dayanah (Dinah), his banath (daughter); and his ban (son) were with his livestock in the shadah (field). Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) held his charash (peace) until they bawaa (bring).
6 Chamawar (Hamor) the ab (father) of Shakam (Shechem) yatzaa (go out / come out) out to Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) to dabar (word / matter) with him.
7 The banay (my son) of Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) bawaa (bring) in from the shadah (field) when they shamai (hearken / hear) it. The banay (my son) were itzab (grieved), and they were very charah (hot with anger), because he ishah (make) done nabalah (folly) in Yashar-Al (Israel) in lying with Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) banath (daughter); a which thing ought not to be ishah (make).
8 Chamawar (Hamor) dabar (word / matter) with them, amar (said), “The napash (soul) of my ban (son), Shakam (Shechem), chashaq (longs) for your banath (daughter). Please nathan (give) her to him as a ayashah (woman / wife).
9 Chathan (make) marriages with us. Nathan (give) your banath (daughter) to us, and laqach (take / seize) our banath (daughter) for yourselves.
10 You shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) with us, and the aratz (Earth/land) will be panayam (face) you. Live and sachar (trade) in it, and get haachazaw (possessions) in it.”
11 Shakam (Shechem) amar (said) to her ab (father) and to her ach (brother/kinsman), “Let me matzaa (find) favor in your iyan (eye), and whatever you will amar (said) me I will nathan (give).
12 Rabah (ask) me a maad (great) amount for a mahar (dowry), and I will nathan (give) whatever you ask of me, but nathan (give) me the nairah (young) lady as a ayashah (woman / wife).”
13 The banay (my son) of Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) inah (answer / respond) Shakam (Shechem) and Chamawar (Hamor) his ab (father) with maramah (deceit), and dabar (word / matter), because he had tamaa (defiled) Dayanah (Dinah) their achawath (sister),
14 And amar (said) to them, “We can't ishah (make) this thing, to nathan (give) our achawath (sister) to ayash (man / husband) who is iralah (uncircumcised); for that is a charapah (reproach) to us.
15 Only on zaath (this) condition will we awath (consent) to you. If you will be as we are, that every zakar (remember) of you be mawal (circumcised);
16 Then will we nathan (give) our banath (daughter) to you, and we will laqach (take / seize) your banath (daughter) to us, and we will yashab (inhabit/dwell) with you, and we will become achad (one) im (nation / people).
17 But if you will not shamai (hearken / hear) to us, to be mawal (circumcised), then we will laqach (take / seize) our banath (daughter), and we will be halak (move).”
18 Their dabar (word / matter) yatab (pleased) Chamawar (Hamor) and Shakam (Shechem), Chamawar (Hamor's) ban (son).
19 The nair (young) man didn't wait to ishah (make) this thing, because he chapatz (had) delight in Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) banath (daughter), and he was honored above all the bayath (house) of his ab (father).
20 Chamawar (Hamor) and Shakam (Shechem), his ban (son), bawaa (bring) to the shair (gate) of their iyar (city), and dabar (word / matter) with the ban (son) of their iyar (city), amar (said),
21 “These anashayam (men) are peaceful with us. Therefore let them live in the aratz (Earth/land) and sachar (trade) in it. For behold, the aratz (Earth/land) is rachab (large) yad (hand) for them. Let us laqach (take / seize) their banath (daughter) to us for wives, and nathan (give) us give them our banath (daughter).
22 Only on zaath (this) condition will the anashayam (men) awath (consent) to us to live with us, to become achad (one) im (nation / people), if every zakar (remember) among us is mawal (circumcised), as they are mawal (circumcised).
23 Won't their livestock and their qanayan (possessions) and all their animals be ours? Only let us give our awath (consent) to them, and they will yashab (inhabit/dwell) with us.”
24 All who yatzaa (go out / come out) out of the shair (gate) of his iyar (city) shamai (hearken / hear) to Chamawar (Hamor), and to Shakam (Shechem) his ban (son); and every zakar (remember) was mawal (circumcised), all who yatzaa (go out / come out) out of the shair (gate) of his iyar (city).
25 It happened on the shalayashay (third) yawam (day), when they were sore, that shanayam (two) of Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) banay (my son), Shamaiwan (Simeon) and Laway (Levi), Dayanah (Dinah's) achay (brothers), ayash (man / husband) laqach (take / seize) his charab (sword), bawaa (bring) upon the unsuspecting iyar (city), and harag (kill) all the zakar (remember).
26 They harag (kill) Chamawar (Hamor) and Shakam (Shechem), his ban (son), with the pah (edge) of the charab (sword), and laqach (take / seize) Dayanah (Dinah) out of Shakam (Shechem's) bayath (house), and yatzaa (go out / come out) away.
27 Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) banay (my son) bawaa (bring) on the chalal (dead), and plundered the iyar (city), because they had tamaa (defiled) their achawath (sister).
28 They laqach (take / seize) their tzaan (flocks), their baqar (morning), their donkeys, that which was in the iyar (city), that which was in the shadah (field),
29 And all their wealth. They took captive all their little tap (ones) and their wives, and shabah (took) as plunder everything that was in the bayath (house).
30 Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) amar (said) to Shamaiwan (Simeon) and Laway (Levi), “You have ikar (troubled) me, to yashab (inhabit/dwell) me odious to the inhabitants of the aratz (Earth/land), among the Kanainay (Canaanite) and the Parazay (Perizzites). I am math (few) in masapar (number). They will asap (gather) themselves together against me and nakah (strike) me, and I will be destroyed, I and my bayath (house).”
31 They amar (said), “Should he ishah (make) with our achawath (sister) as with a prostitute?”
