1 Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) lived in the aratz (Earth/land) of his ab (father) travels, in the aratz (Earth/land) of Kanain (Canaan).
2 This is the history of the thaladawath (generations) of Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch). Yawasap (Joseph), being seventeen shanah (years) ban (son), was raih (feeding) the tzaan (flock) with his ach (brother/kinsman). He was a nair (boy) with the banay (my son) of Balahah (Bilhah) and Zalapah (Zilpah), his ab (father) wives. Yawasap (Joseph) bawaa (bring) an rai (evil) dabah (report) of them to their ab (father).
3 Now Yashar-Al (Israel) ahab (love) Yawasap (Joseph) more than all his ban (son), because he was the ban (son) of his zaqan (old) age, and he ishah (make) him a kathanath (coat) of many colors.
4 His ach (brother/kinsman) raah (see / saw) that their ab (father) ahab (love) him more than all his ach (brother/kinsman), and they shanaa (hate) him, and couldn't dabar (word / matter) peaceably to him.
5 Yawasap (Joseph) chalam (dream) a chalawam (dream), and he nagad (told) it to his ach (brother/kinsman), and they shanaa (hate) him all the more.
6 He amar (said) to them, “Please shamai (hearken / hear) this chalam (dream) which I have chalam (dream):
7 For behold, we were alam (binding) sheaves in the shadah (field), and behold, my alamah (sheaf) qawam (rise up) and also stood natzab (upright); and behold, your sheaves sabab (came) around, and shachah (bowed) down to my alamah (sheaf).”
8 His ach (brother/kinsman) amar (said) to him, “Will you malak (king) malak (king) over us? Or will you mashal (rule/have dominion) mashal (rule/have dominion) dominion over us?” They shanaa (hate) him all the more for his chalawam (dreams) and for his dabar (word / matter).
9 He chalam (dream) yet achar (other) chalawam (dream), and sapar (book) it to his ach (brother/kinsman), and amar (said), “Behold, I have chalam (dream) yet another chalawam (dream): and behold, the shamash (sun) and the yarach (moon) and ishar (-teen) kawakabayam (stars) shachah (bowed) down to me.”
10 He sapar (book) it to his ab (father) and to his ach (brother/kinsman). His ab (father) gair (rebuked) him, and amar (said) to him, “What is this chalawam (dream) that you have chalam (dream)? Will I and your am (mother) and your ach (brother/kinsman) bawaa (bring) bawaa (bring) to shachah (bow) ourselves down to you to the aratz (Earth/land)?”
11 His ach (brother/kinsman) qanaa (jealous) him, but his ab (father) kept this dabar (word / matter) in shamar (keep/guard).
12 His ach (brother/kinsman) yalak (went) to raih (feed) their ab (father) tzaan (flock) in Shakam (Shechem).
13 Yashar-Al (Israel) amar (said) to Yawasap (Joseph), “Aren't your ach (brother/kinsman) raih (feeding) the flock in Shakam (Shechem)? Yalak (come), and I will shalach (send) you to them.” He amar (said) to him, “Here I am.”
14 He amar (said) to him, “yalak (go) now, raah (see / saw) whether it is shalawam (peace / safety) with your ach (brother/kinsman), and shalawam (peace / safety) with the tzaan (flock); and shawab (turn) me dabar (word / matter) again.” So he shalach (send) him out of the imaq (valley) of Chabarawan (Hebron), and he bawaa (bring) to Shakam (Shechem).
15 A certain ayash (man / husband) matzaa (found) him, and behold, he was thaih (wandering) in the shadah (field). The ayash (man / husband) shaal (asked) him, “What are you looking for?”
16 He amar (said), “I am looking for my ach (brother/kinsman). Nagad (tell) me, please, ayapah (where) they are raih (feeding) the flock.”
17 The ayash (man / husband) amar (said), “They have left here, for I shamai (hearken / hear) them amar (said), ‘yalak (let) us go to Dathan (Dothan).’” Yawasap (Joseph) yalak (went) achar (other) his ach (brother/kinsman), and matzaa (found) them in Dathan (Dothan).
18 They raah (see / saw) him rachawaq (afar) off, and before he qarab (come close) near to them, they nakal (conspired) against him to mawath (death) him.
19 They amar (said) ayash (man / husband) to ach (brother/kinsman), “Behold, halazah (this) bail (dreamer) bawaa (bring).
20 Yalak (come) now therefore, and let's harag (kill) him, and shalak (cast) him into achad (one) of the barawath (pits), and we will amar (said), ‘An rai (evil) animal has akal (eat) him.’ We will raah (see / saw) what will become of his chalawam (dreams).”
21 Raawaban (Reuben) shamai (hearken / hear) it, and natzal (delivered) him out of their hand, and amar (said), “Let's not take his nakah (life).”
22 Raawaban (Reuben) amar (said) to them, “shapak (shed) no dam (blood). Shalak (throw) him into this bawar (pit) that is in the madabar (wilderness), but shalach (send) no yad (hand) on him”—that he might natzal (deliver) him out of their yad (hand), to shawab (turn) him to his ab (father).
23 It happened, when Yawasap (Joseph) came to his ach (brother/kinsman), that they stripped Yawasap (Joseph) of his coat, the coat of many colors that was on him;
24 And they laqach (take / seize) him, and shalak (threw) him into the bawar (pit). The bawar (pit) was rayaq (empty). There was no mayam (Waters) in it.
25 They yashab (inhabit/dwell) down to akal (eat) lacham (bread), and they nashaa (lift) up their iyan (eye) and raah (see / saw), and saw a caravan of Yashamaialay (Ishmaelites) was bawaa (bring) from Galaid (Gilead), with their gamal (camels) nashaa (lift) nakaath (spices) and tzaray (balm) and lat (myrrh), halak (move) to yarad (carry) it down to Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt).
26 Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) amar (said) to his ach (brother/kinsman), “What batzai (profit) is it if we harag (kill) our ach (brother/kinsman) and kasah (conceal) his dam (blood)?
27 Yalak (come), and let's makar (sell) him to the Yashamaialay (Ishmaelites), and not let our yad (hand) be on him; for he is our ach (brother/kinsman), our bashar (flesh).” His ach (brother/kinsman) shamai (hearken / hear) to him.
28 Madayanay (Midianites) who were merchants ibar (pass over/through) by, and they mashak (drew) and ilah (go up / offer) up Yawasap (Joseph) out of the bawar (pit), and makar (sold) Yawasap (Joseph) to the Yashamaialay (Ishmaelites) for isharayam (twenty) pieces of kasap (silver). They bawaa (bring) Yawasap (Joseph) into Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt).
29 Raawaban (Reuben) shawab (turn) to the bawar (pit); and saw that Yawasap (Joseph) wasn't in the bawar (pit); and he qarai (tore) his clothes.
30 He shawab (turn) to his ach (brother/kinsman), and amar (said), “The yalad (birth / begot) is no more; and I, an (where) will I bawaa (bring)?”
31 They laqach (take / seize) Yawasap (Joseph's) kathanath (coat), and shachat (killed) a male iz (goat), and tabal (dipped) the kathanath (coat) in the dam (blood).
32 They took the kathanath (coat) of many colors, and they bawaa (bring) it to their ab (father), and amar (said), “We matzaa (have) found this. Examine it, now, whether it is your ban (son) kathanath (coat) or not.”
33 He recognized it, and amar (said), “It is my ban (son) kathanath (coat). An rai (evil) animal has akal (eat) him. Yawasap (Joseph) is tarap (without) doubt tarap (torn) in pieces.”
34 Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) qarai (tore) his clothes, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) sackcloth on his waist, and abal (mourned) for his ban (son) many yamayam (days).
35 All his ban (son) and all his banath (daughter) qawam (rise up) up to nacham (turn away / repent) him, but he maan (refused) to be nacham (turn away / repent). He amar (said), “For I will yarad (go) down to shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) to my ban (son) abal (mourning).” His ab (father) bakah (wept) for him.
36 The Madanay (Midianites) makar (sold) him into Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt) to Pawatayapar (Potiphar), an sarayas (officer) of Paraih (Pharaoh's), the shar (prince / ruler) of the tabach (guard).
