It happened at that ith (time), that Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) yarad (went) down from his ach (brother/kinsman), and visited a ayash (man / husband) idalamay (adullamite), whose sham (name) was Chayarah (Hirah).
Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) raah (see / saw) there a banath (daughter) of a ayash (man / husband) Kanainay (Canaanite) whose sham (name) was Shawai (Shua). He laqach (take / seize) her, and bawaa (bring) in to her.
She harah (conceived), and yalad (birth / begot) a ban (son); and he sham (name) him Ir (Er).
She harah (conceived) again, and yalad (birth / begot) a ban (son); and she sham (name) him Awanan (Onan).
She yet again yalad (birth / begot) a ban (son), and sham (name) him Shalah (Shelah): and he was at Kazayab (Chezib), when she yalad (birth / begot) him.
Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) laqach (take / seize) a ayashah (woman / wife) for Ir (Er), his bakawar (firstborn), and her sham (name) was Thamar (Tamar).
Ir (Er), Yahawadah (Judah's) bakawar (firstborn), was rai (wicked) in the iyan (eye) of Yahawah (). Yahawah () mawath (death) him.
Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) amar (said) to Awanan (Onan), “bawaa (bring) in to your ach (brother/kinsman) ayashah (woman / wife), and perform the duty of a husband's ach (brother/kinsman) to her, and qawam (rise up) up zarai (seed) to your ach (brother/kinsman).”
Awanan (Onan) yadai (knew) that the zarai (seed) wouldn't be his; and it happened, when he bawaa (bring) in to his ach (brother/kinsman) ayashah (woman / wife), that he shachath (spilled) it on the aratz (Earth/land), balathay (without) he should nathan (give) zarai (seed) to his ach (brother/kinsman).
The thing which he ishah (make) was raii (wicked / dysfunctional / evil) in the sight of Yahawah (), and he mawath (death) him also.
Then Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) amar (said) to Thamar (Tamar), his kalah (complete / finish), “yashab (inhabit/dwell) a alamanah (widow) in your ab (father) bayath (house), until Shalah (Shelah), my ban (son), is gadal (grown) up;” for he amar (said), “Lest he also mawath (death), like his ach (brother/kinsman).” Thamar (Tamar) yalak (went) and lived in her ab (father) bayath (house).
After many yamayam (days), Shawai (Shua's) banath (daughter), the ayashah (woman / wife) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), mawath (death). Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) was nacham (turn away / repent), and ilah (go up / offer) up to his sheepshearers to Thamanah (Timnah), he and his rai (neigbor/another person) Chayarah (Hirah), the idalamay (adullamite).
It was nagad (told) Thamar (Tamar), amar (said), “Behold, your father-in-law is ilah (go up / offer) up to Thamanah (Timnah) to gazaz (shear) his tzaan (sheep).”
She sawar (took) off of her the bagaday (garments) of her alamanawath (widowhood), and kasah (covered) herself with her tzaiyap (veil), and ilap (wrapped) herself, and yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the gate of Iyanayam (Enaim), which is by the darak (way) to Thamanah (Timnah); for she raah (see) that Shalah (Shelah) was gadal (grown) up, and she wasn't nathan (give) to him as a ayashah (woman / wife).
When Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) raah (see / saw) her, he chashab (thought) that she was a prostitute, for she had kasah (covered) her panayam (face).
He natah (turned) to her by the darak (way), and amar (said), “Please yahab (come), bawaa (bring) me come in to you,” for he didn't yadai (know) that she was his kalah (complete / finish). She amar (said), “What will you nathan (give) me, that you may bawaa (bring) in to me?”
He amar (said), “I will shalach (send) you a young iz (goat) from the tzaan (flock).” She amar (said), “Will you nathan (give) me a irabawan (pledge), until you shalach (send) it?”
He amar (said), “What irabawan (pledge) will I nathan (give) you?” She amar (said), “Your chawatham (signet) and your cord, and your matah (staff / rod / tribe) that is in your yad (hand).” He nathan (give) them to her, and bawaa (bring) in to her, and she harah (conceived) by him.
She qawam (rise up), and yalak (went) away, and sawar (put) off her tzaiyap (veil) from her, and labash (put) on the bagaday (garments) of her alamanawath (widowhood).
Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) shalach (send) the young goat by the yad (hand) of his rai (neigbor/another person), the idalamay (adullamite), to laqach (take / seize) the irabawan (pledge) from the ayashah (woman / wife) yad (hand), but he didn't matzaa (find) her.
Then he shaal (asked) the anashay (men) of her maqawam (place), amar (spoke), “Where is the prostitute, that was at Iyanayam (Enaim) by the road?” They amar (spoke), “There has been no prostitute here.”
He shawab (turn) to Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and amar (said), “I haven't matzaa (found) her; and also the anashay (men) of the maqawam (place) amar (said), ‘There has been no prostitute here.’”
Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) amar (said), “Let her keep it, lest we be bawaz (shamed). Behold, I shalach (send) this young goat, and you haven't matzaa (found) her.”
It happened about shalawash (three) chadashayam (months) later, that it was nagad (told) Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), amar (said), “Thamar (Tamar), your kalah (complete / finish), has zanah (played) the prostitute; and moreover, behold, she is with harah (child) by prostitution.” Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) amar (said), “yatzaa (go out / come out) her out, and let her be burnt.”
When she was yatzaa (go out / come out) out, she shalach (send) to her father-in-law, amar (said), By the ayash (man / husband), whose these are, “I am with harah (child).” She also amar (said), “Please nakar (discern) whose are these—the chathamath (signet), and the cords, and the matah (staff / rod / tribe).”
Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) nakar (acknowledged) them, and amar (said), “She is more tzadaq (righteous / just / fair) than I, because I didn't nathan (give) her to Shalah (Shelah), my ban (son).” He yadai (knew) her again no more.
It happened in the ith (time) of her yalad (birth / begot), that behold, thaawamayam (twins) were in her batan (womb).
When she yalad (birth / begot), one nathan (give) out a yad (hand), and the yalad (birth / begot) laqach (take / seize) and tied a shanay (second) thread on his yad (hand), amar (said), “This yatzaa (go out / come out) out raashawan (first).”
It happened, as he shawab (turn) back his yad (hand), that behold, his ach (brother/kinsman) yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and she amar (said), “Why have you made a paratz (breach) for yourself?” Therefore his sham (name) was qaraa (called) Paratz (Perez).
Afterward his ach (brother/kinsman) yatzaa (go out / come out) out, that had the shanay (second) thread on his yad (hand), and his sham (name) was qaraa (called) Zarach (Zerah).
