2 Samuel 21 — Novel English Bible

1 There was a raib (famine) in the yamay (days) of Dawad (David) shalawash (three) shanayam (years), shanah (year) achar (other) shanah (year); and Dawad (David) baqash (sought) the panayam (face) of Yahawah (). Yahawah () amar (spoke), “It is for Shaawal (Saul), and for his bloody bayath (house), because he put to mawath (death) the Gabainay (Gibeonites).”

2 The malak (king) qaraa (called) the Gabainay (Gibeonites), and amar (said) to them (now the Gabainay (Gibeonites) were not of the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), but of the yathar (remnant) of the Amaray (Amorites); and the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) had shabai (swear / take oath) to them: and Shaawal (Saul) baqash (sought) to nakah (kill) them in his qanaa (jealous) for the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) and Yahawadah (Judah));

3 And Dawad (David) amar (spoke) to the Gabainay (Gibeonites), “What shall I ishah (make) for you? And with what shall I make kapar (atonement), that you may barak (blessed) the nachalah (inheritance) of Yahawah ()?”

4 The Gabainay (Gibeonites) amar (said) to him, “It is no matter of kasap (silver) or zahab (gold) between us and Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife), or his bayath (house); neither is it for us to put any ayash (man / husband) to mawath (death) in Yashar-Al (Israel).” He amar (said), Whatever you amar (said), “that will I ishah (make) for you.”

5 They amar (said) to the malak (king), “The ayash (man / husband) who kalah (complete / finish) us, and who damah (devised) against us, that we should be destroyed from yatzab (remaining) in any of the gabawal (border/boundary) of Yashar-Al (Israel),

6 Let shabai (seven) anashayam (men) of his ban (son) be nathan (give) to us, and we will yaqai (hang) them up to Yahawah () in Gabaih (Gibeah) of Shaawal (Saul), the bachayar (chosen) of Yahawah ().” The malak (king) amar (spoke), “I will nathan (give) them.”

7 But the malak (king) chamal (spared) Mapayabashath (Mephibosheth), the ban (son) of Yahawanathan (Jonathan) the ban (son) of Shaawal (Saul), because of Yahawah () shabawaih (oath) that was between them, between Dawad (David) and Yahawanathan (Jonathan) the ban (son) of Shaawal (Saul).

8 But the malak (king) laqach (take / seize) the shanayam (two) banay (my son) of Ratzapah (Rizpah) the banath (daughter) of Ayah (Aiah), whom she yalad (birth / begot) to Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife), Aramanay (Armoni) and Mapayabashath (Mephibosheth); and the chamash (five) banay (my son) of Mayakal (Michal) the banath (daughter) of Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife), whom she yalad (birth / begot) to Idarayaal (Adriel) the ban (son) of Barazalay (Barzillai) the Meholathite.

9 He nathan (give) them into the yad (hand) of the Gabainay (Gibeonites), and they hanged them in the har (mountain) panayam (face) Yahawah (), and all shabai (seven) of them napal (fall / be cast down) yachad (together). They were put to mawath (death) in the yamay (days) of qatzayar (harvest), in the raashawan (first) days, at the thachalah (beginning) of shairah (barley) qatzayar (harvest).

10 Ratzapah (Rizpah) the banath (daughter) of Ayah (Aiah) laqach (take / seize) sackcloth, and natah (spread) it for her on the tzawar (rock), from the thachalah (beginning) of qatzayar (harvest) until mayam (Waters) was nathak (poured) on them from the sky. She allowed neither the iwap (flying) of the sky to nawach (rest) on them by yawamam (by day), nor the animals of the shadah (field) by layal (night).

11 It was nagad (told) Dawad (David) what Ratzapah (Rizpah) the banath (daughter) of Ayah (Aiah), the payalagash (concubine) of Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife), ishah (make) done.

12 Dawad (David) yalak (went) and laqach (take / seize) the itzamawath (bones) of Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) and the itzamawath (bones) of Yahawanathan (Jonathan) his ban (son) from the bailay (men) of Yabash (dry land), who had ganab (stolen) them from the rachab (street) of Bayath-Shaan (Beth Shan), where the Palashathay (Philistines) had hanged them, in the yawam (day) that the Palashathay (Philistines) nakah (killed) Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) in Galabai (Gilboa);

13 And he ilah (go up / offer) up from there the itzamawath (bones) of Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) and the itzamawath (bones) of Yahawanathan (Jonathan) his ban (son): and they asap (gathered) the itzamawath (bones) of those who were hanged.

14 They qabar (bury) the itzamawath (bones) of Shaawal (Saul) and Yahawanathan (Jonathan) his ban (son) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Banayamayan (Benjamin) in Tzalai (Zela), in the tomb of Qayash (Kish) his ab (father): and they ishah (make) all that the malak (king) tzawah (commanded). Achar (other) that Alahayam () was entreated for the aratz (Earth/land).

15 The Palashathay (Philistines) had malachamah (war) again with Yashar-Al (Israel); and Dawad (David) yarad (went) down, and his ibad (servant) with him, and lacham (fought) against the Palashathay (Philistines). Dawad (David) grew iwap (flying);

16 And Yashabawabanab (Ishbibenob), who was of the yalayaday (sons) of the Rapaa (giant), the mashaqal (weight) of whose qayan (spear) was shalawash (three) maah (hundred) shekels of nachashath (brass) in mashaqal (weight), he being armed with a chadash (new) sword, amar (said) to have nakah (slain) Dawad (David).

17 But Abayashay (Abishai) the ban (son) of Tzarawayah (Zeruiah) izar (helped) him, and nakah (struck) the Palashathay (Philistine), and mawath (death) him. Then the ban (son) of Dawad (David) shabai (swear / take oath) to him, amar (said), “You shall yatzaa (go out / come out) no more out with us to malachamah (battle), that you don't kabah (quench) the nayar (lamp) of Yashar-Al (Israel).”

18 It came to pass achar (other) this, that there was again malachamah (war) with the Palashathay (Philistines) at Gab (Gob): then Sabakay (Sibbecai) the chashathay (hushathite) nakah (killed) Sap (Saph), who was of the yaladay (sons) of the Rapaa (giant).

19 There was again malachamah (war) with the Palashathay (Philistines) at Gab (Gob); and Alachanan (Elhanan) the ban (son) of Yairayaaragayam (Jaareoregim) the bayathahalachamay (bethlehemite) nakah (killed) Galayath (Goliath) the gathay (gittite's) brother, the itz (staff) of whose chanayath (spear) was like a aragayam (weavers) manawar (beam).

20 There was again malachamah (war) at gath (gath), where there was a ayash (man / husband) of great madawan (stature), who had on every yad (hand) shash (six) atzabaith (fingers), and on every ragal (feet / foot) shash (six) atzabaith (toes), arabai (four) and isharayam (twenty) in masapar (number); and he also was yalad (birth / begot) to the Rapaa (giant).

22 These arabai (four) were yalad (birth / begot) to the Rapaa (giant) in gath (gath); and they napal (fall / be cast down) by the yad (hand) of Dawad (David), and by the yad (hand) of his ibad (servant).
