1 Alayah (Elijah) the thashabay (tishbite), who was of the thashabay (foreigners) of Galaid (Gilead), amar (spoke) to Achaab (Ahab), “As Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), chay (life), panayam (face) whom I imad (stand), there shall not be tal (dew) nor matar (rain) these shanayam (years), but pah (according) to my dabar (word / matter).”
2 The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came to him, amar (spoke),
3 “Yalak (go) away from here, panah (turn) eastward, and sathar (hide) yourself by the nachal (stream / river) Karayath (Cherith), that is panayam (face) the Yaradan (Jordan).
4 It shall be, that you shall shathah (drinks) of the nachal (stream / river). I have tzawah (commanded) the irabayam (ravens) to kawal (all) you there.”
5 So he yalak (went) and ishah (make) according to the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah (); for he yalak (went) and lived by the nachal (stream / river) Karayath (Cherith), that is panayam (face) the Yaradan (Jordan).
6 The irabayam (ravens) bawaa (bring) him lacham (bread) and bashar (flesh) in the baqar (morning), and lacham (bread) and bashar (flesh) in the irab (evening); and he shathah (drinks) of the nachal (stream / river).
7 It happened qatz (after) a yawam (day), that the nachal (stream / river) yabash (dry land) up, because there was no gasham (rain) in the aratz (Earth/land).
8 The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came to him, amar (spoke),
9 “Qawam (rise up), yalak (go) to Tzarapath (Zarephath), which belongs to Tzayadawan (Sidon), and stay there. Behold, I have tzawah (commanded) a alamanah (widow) there to kawal (all) you.”
10 So he qawam (rise up) and yalak (went) to Tzarapath (Zarephath); and when he bawaa (bring) to the pathach (gate) of the iyar (city), behold, a alamanah (widow) was there qashash (gathering) itzayam (sticks): and he qaraa (called) to her, and amar (said), “Please laqach (take / seize) me a mait (little) mayam (Waters) in a kalay (vessel), that I may shathah (drinks).”
11 As she was yalak (going) to laqach (take / seize) it, he qaraa (called) to her, and amar (said), “Please laqach (take / seize) me a path (morsel) of lacham (bread) in your yad (hand).”
12 She amar (spoke), “As Yahawah () your Alahayam () chay (life), I don't yash (have) a maiwag (cake), but a handful of qamach (meal) in the jar, and a mait (little) shaman (oil) in the jar. Behold, I am qashash (gathering) shanayam (two) itzayam (sticks), that I may bawaa (come) in and bake it for me and my ban (son), that we may akal (eat) it, and mawath (death).”
13 Alayah (Elijah) amar (said) to her, “Don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid). Bawaa (bring) and ishah (make) as you have dabar (word / matter); but ishah (make) me of it a qatan (small / young / least) igah (cake) raashawan (first), and yatzaa (go out / come out) it out to me, and acharawan (afterward) ishah (make) some for you and for your ban (son).
14 For thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), ‘The jar of qamach (meal) shall not empty, neither shall the jar of shaman (oil) chasar (fail), until the yawam (day) that Yahawah () nathan (give) gasham (rain) on the adamah (earth).’”
15 She yalak (went) and ishah (make) according to the dabar (word / matter) of Alayah (Elijah): and she, and he, and her bayath (house), akal (eat) many yamayam (days).
16 The jar of qamach (meal) didn't empty, neither did the jar of shaman (oil) chasar (fail), according to the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah (), which he dabar (word / matter) by Alayah (Elijah).
17 It happened achar (other) these things, that the ban (son) of the ayashah (woman / wife), the bailah (mistress) of the bayath (house), chalah (afflict) sick; and his chalay (sickness) was so severe, that there was no nashamah (breathing thing) yathar (left) in him.
18 She amar (spoke) to Alayah (Elijah), “What have I to do with you, you ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam ()? You bawaa (come) come to me to zakar (remember) my iwan (guilt/iniquity) to memory, and to mawath (death) my ban (son)!”
19 He amar (said) to her, “nathan (give) me your ban (son).” He laqach (take / seize) him out of her chayaq (bosom), and ilah (go up / offer) him up into the room where he stayed, and shakab (laid) him on his own matah (bed).
20 He qaraa (called) to Yahawah (), and amar (spoke), “Yahawah () my Alahayam (), have you also brought raii (wicked / dysfunctional / evil) on the alamanah (widow) with whom I stay, by mawath (death) her ban (son)?”
21 He madad (stretched) himself on the yalad (birth / begot) shalawash (three) paimayam (times), and qaraa (called) to Yahawah (), and amar (spoke), “Yahawah () my Alahayam (), please let this yalad (birth / begot) napash (soul) shawab (turn back / repent) into him again.”
22 Yahawah () shamai (hearken / hear) to the qawal (sound / voice) of Alayah (Elijah); and the napash (soul) of the yalad (birth / begot) shawab (turn back / repent) into him again, and he chayah (revived).
23 Alayah (Elijah) laqach (take / seize) the yalad (birth / begot), and yarad (brought) him down out of the room into the bayath (house), and nathan (give) him to his am (mother); and Alayah (Elijah) amar (said), “raah (see / saw), your ban (son) chay (life).”
24 The ayashah (woman / wife) amar (spoke) to Alayah (Elijah), “zah (this / that / these) I yadai (know) that you are a ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam (), and that the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () in your pah (mouth) is amath (truth).”
