2 Kings 10 — Novel English Bible

1 Now Achaab (Ahab) had shabaiyam (seventy) banayam (sons) in Shamarawan (Samaria). Yahawaa (Jehu) kathab (write) saparayam (letters), and shalach (send) to Shamarawan (Samaria), to the sharay (rulers) of Yazaraial (Jezreel), even the zaqanayam (elders), and to those who aman (believe / have faith) up the sons of Achaab (Ahab), amar (said),

2 “Now as soon as this sapar (book / scribed document) bawaa (bring) to you, since your adawan (master / lord) banay (my son) are with you, and there are with you rakab (chariots) and sawasayam (horses), a fortified iyar (city) also, and armor.

3 Select the tawab (good / proper function) and fittest of your adawan (master / lord) banay (my son), shawam (place / establish / appoint) him on his ab (father) kasaa (throne), and lacham (fight) for your adawan (master / lord) bayath (house).”

4 But they were maad (exceedingly) yaraa (fear / be afraid), and amar (said), “Behold, the shanayam (two) malakayam (kings) didn't imad (stand) panayam (face) him! How then shall we imad (stand)?”

5 He who was over the bayath (house), and he who was over the iyar (city), the zaqanayam (elders) also, and those who raised the children, shalach (send) to Yahawaa (Jehu), amar (said), “We are your ibad (servant), and will ishah (make) all that you ask us. We will not make any man malak (king). You ishah (make) that which is tawab (good / proper function) in your iyan (eye).”

6 Then he kathab (write) a sapar (book / scribed document) the shanay (second) time to them, amar (said), “If you are on my side, and if you will shamai (hearken / hear) to my qawal (sound / voice), laqach (take / seize) the raashay (heads) of the raashay (men) your adawan (master / lord) banay (my son), and bawaa (bring) to me to Yazaraial (Jezreel) by machar (tomorrow) this ith (time).” Now the malak (king) banay (my son), being shabaiyam (seventy) anashay (persons), were with the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) men of the iyar (city), who gadal (brought) them up.

7 It happened, when the sapar (book / scribed document) bawaa (bring) to them, that they laqach (take / seize) the malak (king) banay (my son), and shachat (killed) them, even shabaiyam (seventy) ayash (man / husband), and shawam (place / establish / appoint) their raash (head) in dawadayam (baskets), and shalach (send) them to him to Yazaraial (Jezreel).

8 A malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) bawaa (bring), and nagad (told) him, “They bawaa (bring) brought the raashay (heads) of the malak (king) banay (my son).” He amar (said), “shawam (place / establish / appoint) them in shanayam (two) tzabarayam (heaps) at the pathach (entrance) of the shair (gate) until the baqar (morning).”

9 It happened in the baqar (morning), that he yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and imad (stood), and amar (said) to all the im (nation / people), “You are tzadayaq (righteous). Behold, I qashar (conspired) against my adawan (master / lord), and harag (kill) him; but who nakah (struck) all these?

10 Yadai (know) apaw (now) that nothing shall napal (fall / be cast down) to the aratz (Earth/land) of the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah (), which Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) concerning the bayath (house) of Achaab (Ahab). For Yahawah () ishah (make) done that which he dabar (word / matter) by his ibad (servant) Alayah (Elijah).”

11 So Yahawaa (Jehu) nakah (struck) all that shaar (remained) of the bayath (house) of Achaab (Ahab) in Yazaraial (Jezreel), with all his gadawal (very great/important/mighty) men, his yadai (familiar) friends, and his kahan (priest), until he shaar (left) him none sharayad (remaining).

12 He qawam (rise up) and departed, and yalak (went) to Shamarawan (Samaria). As he was at the raih (shearing) bayathaiqad (house) of the shepherds on the darak (way),

13 Yahawaa (Jehu) matzaa (met) with the achay (brothers) of Achazayah (Ahaziah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and amar (said), “Who are you?” They amar (said), “We are the achay (brothers) of Achazayah (Ahaziah). We are yarad (going) down to greet the banay (my son) of the malak (king) and the banay (my son) of the gabayarah (queen).”

14 He amar (said), “thapash (take) them chay (life)!” They thapash (took) them chay (life), and shachat (killed) them at the bawar (pit) of the shearing bayathaiqad (house), even arabaiyam (forty) - shanayam (two) ayash (man / husband). He didn't shaar (leave) any of them.

15 When he had departed from there, he met Yahawanadab (Jehonadab) the ban (son) of Rakab (Rechab) coming to qaraah (meet) him. He greeted him, and amar (said) to him, “Is your labab (heart) yashar (upright), as my labab (heart) is with your labab (heart)?” Yahawanadab (Jehonadab) amar (said), “It is.” “If it is, nathan (give) me your yad (hand).” He nathan (give) him his yad (hand); and he ilah (go up / offer) him up to him into the marakabah (chariot).

16 He amar (spoke), “yalak (come) with me, and raah (see) my qanaah (zeal) for Yahawah ().” So they rakab (made) him ride in his rakab (chariot).

17 When he bawaa (come) to Shamarawan (Samaria), he nakah (struck) all who shaar (remained) to Achaab (Ahab) in Shamarawan (Samaria), until he had destroyed him, according to the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah (), which he dabar (word / matter) to Alayah (Elijah).

18 Yahawaa (Jehu) qabatz (gathered) all the im (nation / people) qabatz (together), and amar (said) to them, “Achaab (Ahab) ibad (servant) Bail (Baal) a mait (little); but Yahawaa (Jehu) will ibad (servant) him much.

19 Now therefore qaraa (called) to me all the nabayaay (prophets) of Bail (Baal), all of his ibaday (servant of), and all of his kahan (priest). Let ayash (man / husband) be absent; for I have a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) zabach (sacrifice) to Bail (Baal). Whoever is absent, he shall not chayah (live).” But Yahawaa (Jehu) ishah (make) it in subtlety, intending that he might abad (destroy / perish) the ibaday (servant of) of Bail (Baal).

20 Yahawaa (Jehu) amar (said), “qadash (set apart / make holy) a solemn itzarah (assembly) for Bail (Baal)!” They qaraa (called) it.

21 Yahawaa (Jehu) shalach (send) through all Yashar-Al (Israel); and all the ibaday (servant of) of Bail (Baal) bawaa (bring), so that there was not a ayash (man / husband) shaar (left) that didn't bawaa (bring). They bawaa (bring) into the bayath (house) of Bail (Baal); and the bayath (house) of Bail (Baal) was malaa (filled) from one pah (end) to another.

22 He amar (said) to him who was over the malathachah (vestry), “yatzaa (go out / come out) out robes for all the ibaday (servant of) of Bail (Baal)!” He brought robes out to them.

23 Yahawaa (Jehu) bawaa (come) with Yahawanadab (Jehonadab) the ban (son) of Rakab (Rechab) into the bayath (house) of Bail (Baal). Then he amar (spoke) to the ibaday (worshippers) of Bail (Baal), “chapash (search), and raah (see) that there are here with you none of the ibaday (servants) of Yahawah (), but the ibaday (worshippers) of Bail (Baal) only.”

24 They bawaa (bring) in to ishah (make) zabachayam (sacrifices) and burnt ilawath (offerings). Now Yahawaa (Jehu) had shawam (place / establish / appoint) him shamanayam (eighty) anashayam (men) outside, and amar (said), “If any of the ishah (make) whom I bawaa (bring) into your yad (hand) malat (escape), he who lets him go, his napash (soul) shall be for the napash (soul) of him.”

25 It happened, as soon as he kalah (complete / finish) made an end of ilah (offering) the burnt ishah (make), that Yahawaa (Jehu) amar (said) to the rawatz (guard) and to the shalashayam (captains), “bawaa (bring) in, and nakah (kill) them! Let ayash (man / husband) yatzaa (go out / come out).” They nakah (struck) them with the pah (edge) of the charab (sword); and the rawatz (guard) and the shalashayam (captains) shalak (cast) them out, and yalak (went) to the iyar (city) of the bayath (house) of Bail (Baal).

26 They yatzaa (go out / come out) out the matzabawath (pillars) that were in the bayath (house) of Bail (Baal), and sharap (burned) them.

27 They nathatz (broke) down the matzabah (pillar) of Bail (Baal), and nathatz (broke) down the bayath (house) of Bail (Baal), and shawam (place / establish / appoint) it a latrine, to this yawam (day).

28 Thus Yahawaa (Jehu) destroyed Bail (Baal) out of Yashar-Al (Israel).

29 However from the chataay (sins) of Yarabaim (Jeroboam) the ban (son) of Nabat (Nebat), with which he made Yashar-Al (Israel) to chataa (sin), Yahawaa (Jehu) didn't sawar (depart) from achar (other) them, the zahab (gold) calves that were in Bayath-Al (Bethel), and that were in Dan (Dan).

30 Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Yahawaa (Jehu), “Because you have tawab (good / proper function) well in ishah (make) that which is yashar (upright) in my iyan (eye), and ishah (make) done to the bayath (house) of Achaab (Ahab) according to all that was in my labab (heart), your banay (sons) of the rabayaiy (fourth) generation shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) on the kasaa (throne) of Yashar-Al (Israel).”

31 But Yahawaa (Jehu) shamar (keep/guard) no heed to yalak (walk) in the thawarah (instruction) of Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), with all his labab (heart). He didn't sawar (depart) from the chataawath (sins) of Yarabaim (Jeroboam), with which he made Yashar-Al (Israel) to chataa (sin).

32 In those yamayam (days) Yahawah () chalal (began) to qatzah (end / extremity / border) off from Yashar-Al (Israel); and Chazaal (Hazael) nakah (struck) them in all the gabawal (border/boundary) of Yashar-Al (Israel);

33 From the Yaradan (Jordan) eastward, all the aratz (Earth/land) of Galaid (Gilead), the Gaday (Gadites), and the Raawabanay (Reubenites), and the Manashay (Manassites), from Irawair (Aroer), which is by the nachal (stream / river) of the Aranawan (Arnon), even Galaid (Gilead) and Bashan (Bashan).

34 Now the yathar (rest) of the dabaray (acts) of Yahawaa (Jehu), and all that he ishah (make), and all his gabawarah (might), aren't they kathab (write) in the sapar (book / scribed document) of the dabaray (chronicles) of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel)?

35 Yahawaa (Jehu) shakab (slept) with his ab (father); and they qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him in Shamarawan (Samaria). Yahawaachaz (Jehoahaz) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.

36 The yawam (day) that Yahawaa (Jehu) malak (king) over Yashar-Al (Israel) in Shamarawan (Samaria) was isharayam (twenty) - shamanah (eight) shanah (years).
