2 Kings 5 — Novel English Bible

1 Now Naiman (Naaman), shar (prince / ruler) of the tzabaa (troop) of the malak (king) of Aram (Syria), was a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) ayash (man / husband) with his adawan (master / lord), and nashaa (lift), because by him Yahawah () nathan (give) given thashawaih (deliverance) to Aram (Syria): he was also a gabawar (mighty) ayash (man / husband) of valor, but he was a tzarai (leper).

2 The Aram (Syrians) yatzaa (go out / come out) gone out in gadawadayam (bands), and had shabah (brought) away captive out of the aratz (Earth/land) of Yashar-Al (Israel) a qatan (small / young / least) nairah (maiden); and she waited on Naiman (Naaman's) ayashah (woman / wife).

3 She amar (spoke) to her gabarath (mistress), “I wish that my Adawan () were with the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) who is in Shamarawan (Samaria)! Then he would heal him of his tzaraith (leprosy).”

4 Someone bawaa (come) in, and nagad (told) his Adawan (), amar (spoke), “The nairah (maiden) who is from the aratz (Earth/land) of Yashar-Al (Israel) dabar (word / matter) this.”

5 The malak (king) of Aram (Syria) amar (said), “bawaa (bring) now, and I will shalach (send) a sapar (book / scribed document) to the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel).” He departed, and laqach (take / seize) with him ishar (ten) kakaray (talents) of kasap (silver), and shash (six) alap (thousand) pieces of zahab (gold), and ishar (ten) chalayapawath (changes) of bagad (clothing).

6 He bawaa (bring) the sapar (book / scribed document) to the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (said), “Now when this sapar (book / scribed document) bawaa (bring) come to you, behold, I have shalach (send) Naiman (Naaman) my ibad (servant) to you, that you may heal him of his tzaraith (leprosy).”

7 It happened, when the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) had qaraa (called) the sapar (book / scribed document), that he qarai (tore) his clothes, and amar (spoke), “Am I Alahayam (), to mawath (death) and to chayah (make) alive, that this zah (this / that / these) shalach (send) to me to heal a ayash (man / husband) of his tzaraith (leprosy)? But please yadai (consider) and raah (see) how he anah (seeks) a quarrel against me.”

8 It was so, when Alayashai (Elisha) the ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam () shamai (hearken / hear) that the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) had qarai (torn) his clothes, that he shalach (send) to the malak (king), amar (spoke), “Why have you qarai (torn) your clothes? Bawaa (come) him come now to me, and he shall yadai (know) that there is a nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) in Yashar-Al (Israel).”

9 So Naiman (Naaman) bawaa (bring) with his sawas (horses) and with his rakab (chariots), and imad (stood) at the pathach (door) of the bayath (house) of Alayashai (Elisha).

10 Alayashai (Elisha) shalach (send) a malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) to him, amar (said), “halak (move) and rachatz (wash) in the Yaradan (Jordan) shabai (seven) paimayam (times), and your bashar (flesh) shall shawab (turn) again to you, and you shall be tahar (clean).”

11 But Naiman (Naaman) was qatzap (angry), and yalak (went) away, and amar (spoke), “Behold, I amar (spoke), ‘He will yatzaa (go out / come out) yatzaa (go out / come out) out to me, and imad (stand), and qaraa (called) on the sham (name) of Yahawah () his Alahayam (), and nawap (wave) his yad (hand) over the maqawam (place), and heal the tzarai (leper).’

12 Abanah (Aren't Abanah) and Parapar (Pharpar), the naharawath (rivers) of Damashaq (Damascus), tawab (good / proper function) than all the mayamay (waters) of Yashar-Al (Israel)? Couldn't I rachatz (wash) in them, and be tahar (clean)?” So he panah (turn) and yalak (went) away in a chamah (rage).

13 His ibad (servant) nagash (came) near, and dabar (word / matter) to him, and amar (said), “My ab (father), if the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) had asked you do some gadawal (very great/important/mighty) thing, wouldn't you ishah (make) done it? Ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) much rather then, when he yaamaraw (says) to you, ‘rachatz (wash), and be tahar (clean)?’”

14 Then yarad (went) he down, and tabal (dipped) himself shabai (seven) paimayam (times) in the Yaradan (Jordan), according to the dabar (word / matter) of the ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam (); and his bashar (flesh) was shawab (turn back / repent) like the bashar (flesh) of a qatan (small / young / least) nair (child), and he was tahar (clean).

15 He shawab (turn back / repent) to the ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam (), he and all his machanah (company), and bawaa (come), and imad (stood) panayam (face) him; and he amar (spoke), “See now, I yadai (know) that there is no Alahayam () in all the aratz (Earth/land), but in Yashar-Al (Israel). Now therefore, please laqach (take / seize) a barakah (gift) from your ibad (servant).”

16 But he amar (spoke), “As Yahawah () chay (life), panayam (face) whom I imad (stand), I will laqach (take / seize) none.” He patzar (urged) him to laqach (take / seize) it; but he maan (refused).

17 Naiman (Naaman) amar (spoke), “If not, then, please let tzamad (two) paradayam (mules)’ mashaa (burden) of adamah (earth) be nathan (give) to your ibad (servant); for your ibad (servant) will from now on ishah (make) neither burnt ilah (offering) nor zabach (sacrifice) to other Alahayam (), but to Yahawah ().

18 In this thing may Yahawah () salach (forgive/pardon/make clean) your ibad (servant): when my adawan (master / lord) bawaa (come) into the bayath (house) of Ramawan (Rimmon) to shachah (worship) there, and he shain (leans) on my yad (hand), and I shachah (bow) myself in the bayath (house) of Ramawan (Rimmon). When I shachah (bow) myself in the bayath (house) of Ramawan (Rimmon), may Yahawah () salach (forgive/pardon/make clean) your ibad (servant) in this thing.”

19 He amar (said) to him, “yalak (go) in shalawam (peace / safety).” So he departed from him a kabarah (little) aratz (Earth/land).

20 But Gayachazay (Gehazi) the nair (servant) of Alayashai (Elisha) the ayash (man / husband) of Alahayam (), amar (spoke), “Behold, my adawan (master / lord) has chashak (darkness) this Naiman (Naaman) the Aramay (Syrian), in not laqach (take / seize) at his yad (hand) that which he bawaa (come). As Yahawah () chay (life), I will rawatz (run) achar (other) him, and laqach (take / seize) something from him.”

21 So Gayachazay (Gehazi) radap (followed) achar (other) Naiman (Naaman). When Naiman (Naaman) raah (see / saw) rawatz (one) running achar (other) him, he came down from the marakabah (chariot) to qaraah (meet) him, and amar (said), “Is shalawam (peace / safety) well?”

22 He amar (said), “shalawam (peace / safety) is well. My adawan (master / lord) has shalach (send) me, amar (said), ‘Behold, even now shanayam (two) nair (young) men of the banay (my son) of the nabayaayam (prophets) bawaa (bring) come to me from the har (mountain) country of Aparayam (Ephraim). Please nathan (give) them a kakar (talent) of kasap (silver) and shanayam (two) chalapawath (changes) of bagad (clothing).’”

23 Naiman (Naaman) amar (said), “Be yaal (pleased) to laqach (take / seize) two kakarayam (talents).” He paratz (urged) him, and tzarar (bound) shanayam (two) kakarayam (talents) of kasap (silver) in shanayam (two) charatayam (bags), with shanayam (two) chalapawath (changes) of bagad (clothing), and nathan (give) them on shanayam (two) of his nair (servants); and they nashaa (lift) them panayam (face) him.

24 When he bawaa (bring) to the hill, he laqach (take / seize) them from their yad (hand), and stored them in the bayath (house). Then he let the anashayam (men) shalach (send), and they departed.

25 But he bawaa (bring) in, and imad (stood) before his adawan (master / lord). Alayashai (Elisha) amar (said) to him, “an (where) did you come from, Gayachazay (Gehazi)?” He amar (said), “Your ibad (servant) halak (move) nowhere.”

26 He amar (said) to him, “Didn't my lab (heart) halak (move) with you, when the ayash (man / husband) hapak (turned) from his marakabah (chariot) to qaraah (meet) you? Is it a ith (time) to laqach (take / seize) kasap (money), and to laqach (take / seize) bagadayam (garments), and zayath (olive) groves and karamayam (vineyards), and tzaan (sheep) and cattle, and male ibadayam (servants) and female shapachawath (servants)?

27 Therefore the tzaraith (leprosy) of Naiman (Naaman) will cling to you and to your zarai (seed) iwalam (eternity).” He yatzaa (go out / come out) out from his panayam (face) a tzarai (leper), as white as shalag (snow).
