1 Chronicles 4 — Novel English Bible

1 The banay (my son) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah): Paratz (Perez), Chatzarawan (Hezron), and Karamay (Carmi), and Chawar (Hur), and Shawabal (Shobal).

2 Raayah (Reaiah) the ban (son) of Shawabal (Shobal) became the yalad (birth / begot) of Yachath (Jahath); and Yachath (Jahath) became the yalad (birth / begot) of Achawamay (Ahumai) and Lahad (Lahad). These are the mashapachawath (families) of the Tzaraiy (Zorathites).

3 These were the sons of the ab (father) of Iyatam (Etam): Yazaraial (Jezreel), and Yashamaa (Ishma), and Yadabash (Idbash); and the sham (name) of their achawath (sister) was Tzalalapawanay (Hazzelelponi);

4 And Panawaal (Penuel) the ab (father) of Gadar (Gedor), and Izar (Ezer) the ab (father) of Chawashah (Hushah). These are the banay (sons) of Chawar (Hur), the bakawar (firstborn) of Aparathah (Ephrathah), the ab (father) of Bayath-Lacham (Bethlehem).

5 Ashachawar (Ashhur) the ab (father) of Thaqawai (Tekoa) had shanayam (two) wives, Chalaah (Helah) and Nairah (Naarah).

6 Nairah (Naarah) yalad (birth / begot) him Achazam (Ahuzzam), and Chapar (Hepher), and Thayamanay (Temeni), and Achashatharay (Haahashtari). These were the banay (my son) of Nairah (Naarah).

7 The banay (sons) of Chalaah (Helah) were Tzarath (Zereth), Yatzahar (Izhar), and Athanan (Ethnan).

8 Qawatz (Hakkoz) became the yalad (birth / begot) of Inawab (Anub), and Tzababah (Zobebah), and the mashapachawath (families) of Acharachal (Aharhel) the ban (son) of Haram (Harum).

9 Yaibatz (Jabez) was more honorable than his ach (brother/kinsman): and his am (mother) sham (name) him Yaibatz (Jabez), amar (said), “Because I yalad (birth / begot) him with itzab (sorrow).”

10 Yaibatz (Jabez) qaraa (called) on the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (spoke), “Oh that you would barak (blessed) me barak (blessed), and rabah (enlarge) my gabawal (border/boundary), and that your yad (hand) might be with me, and that you would ishah (make) me from rai (evil), that it not be to!” my sorrow! Alahayam () bawaa (come) him that which he shaal (requested).

11 Kalawab (Chelub) the ach (brother/kinsman) of Shawachah (Shuhah) became the yalad (birth / begot) of Machayar (Mehir), who was the ab (father) of Ashathawan (Eshton).

12 Ashathawan (Eshton) became the yalad (birth / begot) of Bayatharapaa (Beth Rapha), and Pasach (Paseah), and Thachanah (Tehinnah) the ab (father) of Iyaranachash (Ir Nahash). These are the anashay (men) of Recah.

13 The banay (my son) of Qanaz (Kenaz): Ithanayaal (Othniel), and Sharayah (Seraiah). The banay (my son) of Ithanayaal (Othniel): Chathath (Hathath).

14 Maiwanathay (Meonothai) became the yalad (birth / begot) of Iparah (Ophrah): and Sharayah (Seraiah) became the yalad (birth / begot) of Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab) the ab (father) of Ge Charashayam (Harashim); for they were craftsmen.

15 The banay (my son) of Kalab (Caleb) the ban (son) of Yapanah (Jephunneh): Iyaraw (Iru), Alah (these), and Naim (Naam); and the banay (my son) of Alah (these); and Qanaz (Kenaz).

16 The banay (my son) of Yahalalaal (Jehallelel): Zayap (Ziph), and Zayapah (Ziphah), Thayarayaa (Tiria), and Asharaal (Asarel).

17 The ban (son) of Izarah (Ezrah): Yathar (Jether), and Marad (Mered), and Ipar (Epher), and Yalawan (Jalon); and she bore Marayam (Miriam), and Shamay (Shammai), and Yashabach (Ishbah) the ab (father) of Ashathamai (Eshtemoa).

18 His ayashah (woman / wife) the Jewess yalad (birth / begot) Yarad (Jered) the ab (father) of Gadar (Gedor), and Chabar (Heber) the ab (father) of Shawakah (Soco), and Yaqawathayaal (Jekuthiel) the ab (father) of Zanawach (Zanoah). These are the banay (my son) of Bathayah (Bithiah) the banath (daughter) of Paraih (Pharaoh), whom Marad (Mered) laqach (take / seize).

19 The banay (my son) of the ayashah (woman / wife) of Hawadayah (Hodiah), the achawath (sister) of Nacham (turn away / repent), were the ab (father) of Qaiyalah (Keilah) the garamay (garmite), and Ashathamai (Eshtemoa) the Maikathay (Maacathite).

20 The banay (my son) of Shayamawan (Shimon): Amanawan (Amnon), and Ranah (Rinnah), Banachanan (Ben Hanan), and Thawalawan (Tilon). The banay (my son) of Yashaiy (Ishi): Zawachath (Zoheth), and Ben Zawachath (Zoheth).

21 The banay (my son) of Shalah (Shelah) the ban (son) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah): Ir (Er) the ab (father) of Lakah (Lecah), and Laidah (Laadah) the ab (father) of Maraashah (Mareshah), and the mashapachawath (families) of the bayath (house) of those who ibadah (worked) bawatz (fine) linen, of the bayath (house) of Ashabai (Ashabai / I swear);

22 And Yawaqayam (Jokim), and the anashay (men) of Kazabaa (Cozeba), and Yawaash (Joash), and Sharap (Saraph), who bail (had) dominion in Mawaab (Moab), and Yashabayalacham (Jashubilehem). The records are ithayaq (ancient).

23 These were the yawatzarayam (potters), and the yashabay (inhabitants) of Nataiyam (Netaim) and Gadarah (Gederah): there they lived with the malak (king) for his malaakah (work).

24 The banay (my son) of Shamaiwan (Simeon): Namawaal (Nemuel), and Yamayan (right hand), Yarayab (Jarib), Zarach (Zerah), Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife);

25 Shalawam (peace / safety) his ban (son), Mabasham (Mibsam) his ban (son), Mashamai (Mishma) his ban (son).

26 The banay (my son) of Mashamai (Mishma): Chamawaal (Hammuel) his ban (son), Zakawar (remember/recall) his ban (son), Shamaiy (Shimei) his ban (son).

27 Shamaiy (Shimei) had sixteen banayam (sons) and shash (six) banawath (daughters); but his ach (brother/kinsman) didn't rab (have) many banayam (children), neither did all their mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) rabah (multiply) like the banayam (children) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah).

28 They lived at Baar-Shabai (Beersheba), and Mawaladah (Moladah), and Chatzarashawail (Hazarshual),

29 And at Balahah (Bilhah), and at Itzam (Ezem), and at Thawalad (Tolad),

30 And at Bathawaal (Bethuel), and at Charamah (Hormah), and at Tzaqalag (Ziklag),

31 And at Bayathahamarakabawath (Beth Marcaboth), and Chatzarasawasayam (Hazar Susim), and at Bayathabaraay (Beth Biri), and at Shairayam (Shaaraim). These were their iyar (cities) to the malak (king) of Dawad (David).

32 Their chatzar (villages) were Iyatam (Etam), and Iyan (eye), Ramawan (Rimmon), and Thakan (Tochen), and Ishan (Ashan), chamash (five) irayam (cities);

33 And all their chatzar (villages) that were around the same irayam (cities), to Bail (Baal). These were their habitations, and they have their yachash (genealogy).

34 Mashawabab (Meshobab), and Yamalak (Jamlech), and Yawashah (Joshah) the ban (son) of Amatzayah (Amaziah),

35 And Yawaal (Joel), and Yahawaa (Jehu) the ban (son) of Yawashabayah (Joshibiah), the ban (son) of Sharayah (Seraiah), the ban (son) of Ishayaal (Asiel),

36 And Alayahawaiyanay (Elioenai), and Yaiqabah (Jaakobah), and Yashawachayah (Jeshohaiah), and Ishayah (Asaiah), and Idayaal (Adiel), and Yashayamaal (Jesimiel), and Banayah (Benaiah),

37 And Zayazaa (Ziza) the ban (son) of Shapaiy (Shiphi), the ban (son) of alawan (allon), the ban (son) of Yadayah (Jedaiah), the ban (son) of Shamaray (Shimri), the ban (son) of Shamaiyah (Shemaiah)—

38 These bawaa (bring) by sham (name) were nashayaayam (princes) in their mashapachah (tribe / clan / family): and their ab (father)’ bayath (house) paratz (increased) greatly.

39 They yalak (went) to the mabawaa (entrance) of Gadar (Gedor), even to the mazarach (east) side of the gayaa (valley), to baqash (seek) maraih (pasture) for their tzaan (flocks).

40 They matzaa (found) shaman (fat) maraih (pasture) and tawab (good / proper function), and the aratz (Earth/land) was rachab (wide), and shaqat (quiet), and shalaw (peaceable); for those who lived there panayam (face) were of Cham (Ham).

41 These kathab (write) by sham (name) bawaa (bring) in the yamay (days) of Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and nakah (struck) their ahal (tents), and the Meunim who were matzaa (found) there, and charam (destroyed) them utterly to this yawam (day), and lived in their maraih (place); because there was pasture there for their tzaan (flocks).

42 Some of them, even of the banay (my son) of Shamaiwan (Simeon), chamash (five) maah (hundred) banay (my son), halak (move) to har (mountain) Shaiyar (Seir), having for their raash (head) Palatayah (Pelatiah), and Nairayah (Neariah), and Rapayah (Rephaiah), and Izayaal (Uzziel), the banay (my son) of Yashaiy (Ishi).

43 They nakah (struck) the shaarayath (remnant) of the Imalaq (Amalekites) who palayatah (escaped), and have lived there to this yawam (day).
