2 Chronicles 12 — Novel English Bible

1 It happened, when the malakawath (kingdom) of Rachabaim (Rehoboam) was kawan (established), and he was chazaqah (strong), that he forsook the thawarah (instruction) of Yahawah (), and all Yashar-Al (Israel) with him.

2 It happened in the chamayashay (fifth) shanah (year) of malak (king) Rachabaim (Rehoboam), that Shayashaq (Shishak) malak (king) of Matzarayam (Egypt) ilah (go up / offer) up against Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), because they had mail (top/above) against Yahawah (),

3 With twelve maah (hundred) rakab (chariots), and shashayam (sixty) alap (thousand) horsemen. The im (nation / people) were without masapar (number) who bawaa (bring) with him out of Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt): the Lawabay (Lubim), the sakay (sukkiim), and the Kawashay (Ethiopians).

4 He lakad (took) the fortified iray (cities) which pertained to Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and bawaa (bring) to Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

5 Now Shamaiyah (Shemaiah) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) bawaa (come) to Rachabaim (Rehoboam), and to the sharay (princes) of Yahawadah (Judah), who were asap (gathered) together to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) panayam (face) of Shayashaq (Shishak), and amar (spoke) to them, “Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), ‘You have forsaken me, therefore have I also izab (left) you in the yad (hand) of Shayashaq (Shishak).’”

6 Then the sharay (princes) of Yashar-Al (Israel) and the malak (king) kanai (humbled) themselves; and they amar (spoke), “Yahawah () is tzadayaq (righteous).”

7 When Yahawah () raah (see) that they kanai (humbled) themselves, the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came to Shamaiyah (Shemaiah), amar (spoke), “They have kanai (humbled) themselves. I will not shachath (destroy) them; but I will nathan (give) them some palayatah (deliverance), and my chamah (wrath) shall not be nathak (poured) out on Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) by the yad (hand) of Shayashaq (Shishak).

8 Nevertheless they shall be his ibadayam (servants), that they may yadai (know) my ibadah (service), and the ibadah (service) of the mamalakawath (kingdoms) of the aratzawath (countries).”

9 So Shayashaq (Shishak) malak (king) of Matzarayam (Egypt) ilah (go up / offer) up against Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and laqach (take / seize) away the atzarawath (treasures) of the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and the atzarawath (treasures) of the malak (king) bayath (house). He laqach (take / seize) it all laqach (take / seize). He also took away the maganay (shields) of zahab (gold) which Shalamah (Solomon) ishah (make) made.

10 Malak (king) Rachabaim (Rehoboam) ishah (make) in their place maganay (shields) of nachashath (brass), and paqad (visit) them to the yad (hand) of the sharay (captains) of the rawatz (guard), who shamar (keep/guard) the pathach (door) of the malak (king) bayath (house).

11 It was so, that as often as the malak (king) bawaa (come) into the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), the rawatz (guard) bawaa (come) and nashaa (lift) them, and shawab (turn back / repent) them back into the rawatz (guard) room.

12 When he kanai (humbled) himself, the ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) of Yahawah () shawab (turn back / repent) from him, so as not to shachath (destroy) him kalah (complete / finish): and moreover in Yahawadah (Judah) there were tawab (good / proper function) things found.

13 So malak (king) Rachabaim (Rehoboam) chazaq (strengthened) himself in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and malak (king): for Rachabaim (Rehoboam) was arabaiyam (forty) - achad (one) shanah (years) ban (son) when he began to malak (king), and he malak (king) seventeen shanah (years) in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), the iyar (city) which Yahawah () had bachar (chosen) out of all the shabatay (tribes) of Yashar-Al (Israel), to shawam (place / establish / appoint) his sham (name) there: and his am (mother) sham (name) was Naimah (Naamah) the imawanayath (ammonitess).

14 He ishah (make) that which was rai (evil), because he didn't kawan (set) his lab (heart) to darash (seek) Yahawah ().

15 Now the dabaray (acts) of Rachabaim (Rehoboam), raashawan (first) and acharawan (last), aren't they kathab (write) in the histories of Shamaiyah (Shemaiah) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) and of Idaw (Iddo) the chazah (seer), yachash (after) the way of genealogies? There were malachamawath (wars) between Rachabaim (Rehoboam) and Yarabaim (Jeroboam) yawam (day).

16 Rachabaim (Rehoboam) shakab (slept) with his ab (father), and was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David): and Abayah (Abijah) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.
