Exodus 2 — Novel English Bible

A ayash (man / husband) of the bayath (house) of Laway (Levi) yalak (went) and laqach (take / seize) a banath (daughter) of Laway (Levi) as his wife.

The ayashah (woman / wife) harah (conceived), and yalad (birth / begot) a ban (son). When she raah (see / saw) that he was a tawab (good / proper function) child, she tzapan (hid) him shalawash (three) yarachayam (months).

When she yakal (could) no iwad (more/again) tzapan (hide) him, she laqach (take / seize) a papyrus basket for him, and coated it with tar and with zapath (pitch). She shawam (place / establish / appoint) the yalad (birth / begot) in it, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) it in the reeds by the yaar (river's) shapah (bank).

His achawath (sister) yatzab (stood) rachawaq (far) off, to see what would be ishah (make) to him.

Paraih (Pharaoh's) banath (daughter) yarad (came) down to rachatz (bathe) at the yaar (river). Her nairah (maidens) halak (move) along by the riverside. She raah (see / saw) the basket thawak (midst) the reeds, and shalach (send) her handmaid to laqach (take / seize) it.

She pathach (opened) it, and raah (see / saw) the yalad (birth / begot), and behold, the baby cried. She chamal (had) compassion on him, and amar (said), “This is one of the ibarayam (hebrews)’ yaladay (children).”

Then his achawath (sister) amar (said) to Paraih (Pharaoh's) banath (daughter), “Should I yalak (go) and qaraa (called) a yanaq (nurse) for you from the ibaray (hebrew) ayashah (woman / wife), that she may yanaq (nurse) the yalad (birth / begot) for you?”

Paraih (Pharaoh's) banath (daughter) amar (said) to her, “yalak (go).” The maiden yalak (went) and qaraa (called) the yalad (birth / begot) am (mother).

Paraih (Pharaoh's) banath (daughter) amar (said) to her, “yalak (take) this yalad (birth / begot) yalak (away), and yanaq (nurse) him for me, and I will nathan (give) you your shakar (wages).” The ayashah (woman / wife) laqach (take / seize) the yalad (birth / begot), and nawaq (nursed) it.

The yalad (birth / begot) gadal (grew), and she bawaa (bring) him to Paraih (Pharaoh's) banath (daughter), and he became her ban (son). She sham (name) him Mashah (Moses), and amar (said), “Because I mashah (Moses) him out of the mayam (Waters).”

It happened in those yamayam (days), when Mashah (Moses) had gadal (grown) up, that he yatzaa (go out / come out) out to his ach (brother/kinsman), and raah (see / saw) at their sabalah (burdens). He raah (see / saw) an Matzaray (Egyptian) nakah (striking) a ibaray (hebrew), one of his ach (brother/kinsman).

He panah (turn) this kah (way) and that kah (way), and when he raah (see / saw) that there was no ayash (man / husband), he nakah (killed) the Matzaray (Egyptian), and taman (hid) him in the chawal (sand).

He yatzaa (go out / come out) out the shanay (second) yawam (day), and behold, shanayam (two) anashayam (men) of the ibarayam (hebrews) were fighting with each other. He amar (said) to him who rashai (did) the wrong, “Why do you nakah (strike) your rai (neigbor/another person)?”

He amar (said), “Who shawam (place / establish / appoint) you a shar (prince / ruler) and a shapat (judge / judgement) over us? Do you plan to harag (kill) me, as you harag (kill) the Matzaray (Egyptian)?” Mashah (Moses) was yaraa (fear / be afraid), and amar (said), “akan (surely) this thing is yadai (known).”

Now when Paraih (Pharaoh) shamai (hearken / hear) this thing, he baqash (sought) to harag (kill) Mashah (Moses). But Mashah (Moses) barach (fled) from the panayam (face) of Paraih (Pharaoh), and lived in the aratz (Earth/land) of Madayan (Midian), and he yashab (inhabit/dwell) down by a baar (well).

Now the kahan (priest) of Madayan (Midian) had shabai (seven) banawath (daughters). They bawaa (bring) and dalah (drew) water, and malaa (filled) the rahatayam (troughs) to shaqah (water) their ab (father) tzaan (flock).

The raiyam (shepherds) bawaa (bring) and garash (drove) them away; but Mashah (Moses) qawam (rise up) up and yashai (salvation) them, and shaqah (watered) their tzaan (flock).

When they bawaa (bring) to Raiwaal (Reuel), their ab (father), he amar (said), “madawai (for what reason?) Is it that you bawaa (bring) returned so early today?”

They amar (said), “An Matzaray (Egyptian) natzal (delivered) us out of the yad (hand) of the raiyam (shepherds), and moreover he dalah (drew) dalah (water) for us, and shaqah (watered) the tzaan (flock).”

He amar (said) to his banath (daughter), “Where is he? Why is it that you have izab (left) the ayash (man / husband)? Qaraa (called) him, that he may akal (eat) lacham (bread).”

Mashah (Moses) was yaal (content) to yashab (inhabit/dwell) with the ayash (man / husband). He nathan (give) Mashah (Moses) Tzaparah (Zipporah), his banath (daughter).

She yalad (birth / begot) a ban (son), and he sham (name) him Garasham (Gershom), for he amar (said), “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign aratz (Earth/land).”

It happened in the course of those many yamayam (days), that the malak (king) of Matzarayam (Egypt) mawath (death), and the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) anach (sighed) man (from) of the ibadah (bondage), and they zaiq (cried), and their cry ilah (go up / offer) up to Alahayam () because of the ibadah (bondage).

Alahayam () shamai (hearken / hear) their naaqah (groaning), and Alahayam () zakar (remember) his barayath (covenant) with Abaraham (Abraham), with Yatzachaq (Isaac), and with Yaiqab (Jacob).

Alahayam () raah (see) the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and Alahayam () was concerned about them.
