Jeremiah 10 — Novel English Bible

Shamai (hearken / hear) the dabar (word / matter) which Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to you, bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel)!

Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), “Don't lamad (teach / instruct) the darak (way) of the gawayam (nations), and don't be chathath (dismayed) at the athawath (signs) of the sky; for the gawayam (nations) are chathath (dismayed) at them.

For the chaqawath (customs) of the imayam (peoples) are habal (vanity); for one karath (cut) a itz (tree) out of the yair (forest), the maishah (work) of the yaday (hands) of the charash (workman) with the axe.

They yapah (deck) it with kasap (silver) and with zahab (gold); they chazaq (fasten) it with masamarawath (nails) and with maqabawath (hammers), that it not pawaq (move).

They are like a thamar (palm) tree, of turned dabar (word / matter), and don't speak: they must be nashaa (lift), because they can't tzaid (go). Don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid) of them; for they can't do raii (wicked / dysfunctional / evil), neither is it in them to do yatab (good).”

There is none like you, Yahawah (); you are gadawal (very great/important/mighty), and your sham (name) is gadawal (very great/important/mighty) in gabawarah (might).

Who should not yaraa (fear / be afraid) you, malak (king) of the gawayam (heathen)? For it yaah (appertains) to you; because among all the chakam (wise) men of the gawayam (heathen), and in all their malakawath (royal) estate, there is none like you.

But they are achad (one) bair (brutish) and kasal (foolish): the mawasar (instruction) of idols! It is but a itz (stock).

There is kasap (silver) raqai (beaten) into plates, which is bawaa (bring) from Tharashayash (Tarshish), and zahab (gold) from Awapaz (Uphaz), the maishah (work) of the charash (artificer) and of the yaday (hands) of the tzarap (goldsmith); thakalath (blue) and aragaman (purple) for their labawash (clothing); they are all the maishah (work) of skillful chakamayam (men).

But Yahawah () is the amath (truth) Alahayam (); he is the chay (life) Alahayam (), and an iwalam (forever) malak (king): at his qatzap (wrath) the aratz (Earth/land) raish (trembles), and the gawayam (nations) are not kawal (all) to withstand his zaim (indignation).

“You shall amar (spoke) this to them: ‘The Alahayam () that have not ibad (servant) the shamay (heavens) and the araq (earth), these shall abad (destroy / perish) from the arai (earth), and from under the shamay (heavens).’”

He ishah (make) made the aratz (Earth/land) by his kach (strength / mighty / power), he has kawan (established) the thabal (world) by his chakamah (wisdom), and by his chakamah (understanding) has he natah (stretched) out the shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens):

When he nathan (give) his qawal (sound / voice), there is a hamawan (tumult) of mayam (Waters) in the shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens), and he causes the vapors to ilah (go up / offer) from the qatzah (end / extremity / border) of the aratz (Earth/land); he ishah (make) baraqayam (lightnings) for the matar (rain), and yatzaa (go out / come out) forth the rawach (spirit / wind) out of his awatzar (treasuries).

Every adam (man) has become bair (brutish) and without daith (knowledge); every tzarap (goldsmith) is disappointed by his engraved pasal (image); for his molten nasak (image) is falsehood, and there is no rawach (spirit / wind) in them.

They are habal (vanity), a maishah (work) of delusion: in the ith (time) of their paqadah (visitation) they shall abad (destroy / perish).

The chalaq (portion) of Yaiqab (Jacob) is not like these; for he is the former of all things; and Yashar-Al (Israel) is the shabat (tribe) of his nachalah (inheritance): Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) is his sham (name).

Asap (gather) up your kanaih (wares) out of the aratz (Earth/land), you who live under matzawar (siege).

For thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (), “Behold, I will qalai (sling) out the yawashabay (inhabitants) of the aratz (Earth/land) at paim (this) time, and will tzarar (distress) them, that they may feel it.”

Away (woe) is me because of my shabar (hurt)! My makah (wound) is chalah (afflict): but I amar (said), “ak (truly) this is my chalay (grief), and I must nashaa (lift) it.”

My ahal (tent) is shadad (destroyed), and all my mayathar (cords) are nathaq (broken): my ban (son) are yatzaa (go out / come out) forth from me, and they are no more: there is none to natah (spread) my ahal (tent) any more, and to qawam (rise up) up my yarayaih (curtains).

For the raiyam (shepherds) are become bair (brutish), and have not darash (inquired) of Yahawah (): therefore they shakal (have) not prospered, and all their maraiyath (flocks) are pawatz (scattered).

The qawal (sound / voice) of shamawaih (news), behold, it bawaa (bring), and a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) raish (commotion) out of the tzapawan (north) aratz (Earth/land), to shawam (place / establish / appoint) the iray (cities) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) a shamamah (desolation), a maiwan (dwelling) place of jackals.

Yahawah (), I yadai (know) that the darak (way) of adam (man) is not in himself: it is not in ayash (man / husband) who halak (move) to kawan (direct) his tzaid (steps).

Yahawah (), yasar (correct) me, but in mashapat (measure): not in your ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting), lest you mait (bring) me to nothing.

Shapak (pour) out your chamah (wrath) on the gawayam (heathen) that don't yadai (know) you, and on the mashapachawath (families) that don't qaraa (called) on your sham (name): for they have akal (eat) Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch), yes, they have akal (eat) him and kalah (complete / finish) him, and have shamam (laid) waste his nawah (habitation).
