Jeremiah 49 — Novel English Bible

Of the banay (children) of Imawan (Ammon). Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (): “Has Yashar-Al (Israel) no banay (sons)? Has he no heir? Why then does Malcam yarash (possess) Gad (Gad), and his im (nation / people) yashab (inhabit/dwell) in its iyar (cities)?

Therefore, behold, the yamayam (days) bawaa (come),” amar (spoke) Yahawah (), “that I will cause an tharawaih (alarm) of malachamah (war) to be shamai (hearken / hear) against Rabah (Rabbah) of the banay (children) of Imawan (Ammon); and it shall become a shamamah (desolate) thal (heap), and her banath (daughter) shall be yatzath (burned) with ash (fire): then shall Yashar-Al (Israel) yarash (possess) those who yarash (possessed) him,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

“Wail, Chashabawan (Heshbon), for Iy (Ai) is laid shadad (waste); tzaiq (cry), you banawath (daughters) of Rabah (Rabbah), clothe yourself in sackcloth: sapad (lament), and shawat (run) back and forth among the fences; for Malcam shall yalak (go) into gawalah (captivity), his kahan (priest) and his shar (prince / ruler) yachad (together).

Why do you glory in the imaqayam (valleys), your zawab (flow) imaq (valley), shawabab (backsliding) banath (daughter)? Who batach (trusted) in her awatzar (treasures), saying, ‘Who shall bawaa (bring) to me?’

Behold, I will bawaa (come) a pachad (fear / dread) on you,” naam (declares prophetically) the Adanay (), Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), “from all who are around you; and you shall be nadach (driven) out every ayash (man / husband) panayam (face) forth, and there shall be none to qabatz (gather) together the fugitives.

“But afterward I will shawab (turn back / repent) back the shabawath (captivity) of the banay (children) of Imawan (Ammon),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

Of Adawam (Edom). Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies): “Is chakamah (wisdom) no more in Thayaman (Teman)? Is itzah (counsel) abad (destroy / perish) from the bayan (between)? Is their chakamah (wisdom) vanished?

Nawas (flee), panah (turn) back, yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the haimayaqaw (depths), yashabay (inhabitants) of Dadan (Dedan); for I will bawaa (bring) the ayad (calamity) of Ishaw (Esau) on him, the ith (time) that I shall paqad (visit) him.

If grape batzarayam (gatherers) bawaa (bring) to you, would they not shaar (leave) some gleaning iwalalawath (grapes)? If thieves by layal (night), wouldn't they shachath (destroy) until they had day (enough)?

But I have made Ishaw (Esau) chashap (bare), I have galah (uncovered) his masathar (secret) places, and he shall not be yakal (able) to chabah (hide) himself: his zarai (seed) is shadad (destroyed), and his ach (brother/kinsman), and his neighbors; and he is no more.

Izab (leave) your yathawam (fatherless) children, I will chayah (preserve) them alive; and let your alamanah (widows) batach (trust) in me.”

For thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (): “Behold, they to whom it didn't pertain to shathah (drinks) of the kawas (cup) shall shathah (drinks) shathah (drinks); and are you he who shall naqah (clean/innocent) go naqah (clean/innocent)? You shall not go naqah (clean/innocent), but you shall shathah (drinks) shathah (drinks).

For I have shabai (swear / take oath) by myself,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (), “that Batzarah (Bozrah) shall become an shamah (astonishment), a charapah (reproach), a charab (waste), and a qalalah (curse); and all its iyar (cities) shall be iwalam (forever) charabawath (wastes).”

I have shamai (hearken / hear) shamawaih (news) from Yahawah (), and an tzayar (ambassador) is shalach (send) among the gawayam (nations), saying, “qabatz (gather) yourselves together, and bawaa (come) against her, and qawam (rise up) up to the malachamah (battle).”

“For, behold, I nathan (give) made you qatan (small / young / least) among the gawayam (heathen), and bazah (despised) among adam (men).

As for your terror, the zadawan (pride) of your lab (heart) has nashaa (lift) you, O you who shakan (place) in the chagaway (clefts) of the salai (rock), who thapash (hold) the marawam (height) of the gabaih (hill): though you should make your qan (nest) as gabah (high) as the nashar (eagle), I will yarad (bring) you down from there,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

“Adawam (Edom) shall become an shamah (astonishment): everyone who passes by it shall be shamam (astonished), and shall sharaq (hiss) at all its makah (plagues).

As in the mahapakah (overthrow) of Sadam (Sodom) and Imarah (Gomorrah) and the neighbor cities,” of it, amar (spoke) Yahawah (), “no ayash (man / husband) shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) there, neither shall any ban (son) of adam (man) live therein.

“Behold, he shall ilah (go up / offer) up like a aray (lion) from the gaawan (pride) of the Yaradan (Jordan) against the ayathan (strong) nawah (habitation): for I will ragai (suddenly) make them rawatz (run) away from it; and whoever is bachar (chosen), him will I paqad (visit) over it: for who is like me? And who will yaid (appoint) me a time? And who is the raih (shepherd) who will imad (stand) panayam (face) me?”

Therefore shamai (hearken / hear) the itzah (counsel) of Yahawah (), that he has yaitz (taken) against Adawam (Edom); and his machashabah (purposes), that he has chashab (purposed) against the yashabay (inhabitants) of Thayaman (Teman): Surely they shall drag them away, the tzaiyar (little) ones of the tzaan (flock); surely he shall make their nawah (habitation) shamam (desolate) over them.

The aratz (Earth/land) raish (trembles) at the qawal (sound / voice) of their napal (fall / be cast down); there is a tzaiqah (cry), the qawal (sound / voice) which is shamai (hearken / hear) in the sawap (red) yam (sea/waters).

Behold, he shall ilah (go up / offer) up and daah (fly) as the nashar (eagle), and parash (spread) out his kanap (wings) against Batzarah (Bozrah): and the lab (heart) of the gabawar (mighty) men of Adawam (Edom) at that yawam (day) shall be as the lab (heart) of a ayashah (woman / wife) in her tzarar (pangs).

Of Damashaq (Damascus). “Chamath (Hamath) is bawash (confounded), and Arapad (Arpad); for they have shamai (hearken / hear) rai (evil) shamawaih (news), they are mawag (melted) away: there is daagah (sorrow) on the yam (sea/waters); it can't be shaqat (quiet).

Damashaq (Damascus) has grown rapah (feeble), she panah (turn) herself to nawas (flee), and trembling has chazaq (seized) on her: tzarah (anguish) and chabalayam (sorrows) achaz (have) taken hold of her, as of a yalad (birth / begot) in travail.

How is the iyar (city) of thahalah (praise) not forsaken, the qarayah (city / town) of my mashawash (joy)?

Therefore her bachawar (young) men shall napal (fall / be cast down) in her rachab (streets), and all the anashay (men) of malachamah (war) shall be brought to damam (silence) in that yawam (day),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies).

“I will yatzath (kindle) a ash (fire) in the chawamah (wall) of Damashaq (Damascus), and it shall akal (eat) the aramanawath (palaces) of Banahadad (Ben Hadad).”

Of Qadar (Kedar), and of the mamalakawath (kingdoms) of Chatzawar (Hazor), which Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) nakah (struck). Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah (): “qawam (rise up), ilah (go up / offer) up to Qadar (Kedar), and shadad (destroy) the banay (children) of the qadam (east).

Their ahal (tents) and their tzaan (flocks) shall they nashaa (lift); they shall nashaa (lift) away for themselves their yarayaih (curtains), and all their kalay (vessels), and their gamal (camels); and they shall qaraa (called) to them, ‘magawar (terror) on sabayab (surrounding) side!’

Nawas (flee), wander maad (far) off, yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the haimayaqaw (depths), you yashabay (inhabitants) of Chatzawar (Hazor),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); “for Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) has taken itzah (counsel) against you, and has chashab (conceived) a machashabah (purpose) against you.

Qawam (rise up), ilah (go up / offer) up to a gaway (heathen / nation) that is at shalaw (ease), that yashab (inhabit/dwell) without batach (care),” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); “that have neither dalathayam (gates) nor barayach (bars), that shakan (place) badad (alone).

Their gamal (camels) shall be a baz (booty), and the hamawan (multitude) of their livestock a shalal (spoil): and I will zarah (scatter) to all rawach (spirit / wind) those who have the paah (corners) of their beards cut off; and I will bawaa (come) their ayad (calamity) from every ibar (side) of them,” naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

Chatzawar (Hazor) shall be a maiwan (dwelling) place of jackals, a shamamah (desolation) iwalam (eternity): no ayash (man / husband) shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) there, neither shall any ban (son) of adam (man) live therein.”

The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () that came to Yaramayah (Jeremiah) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) concerning Iyalam (Elam), in the raashayath (beginning) of the malakawath (reign) of Tzadaqayah (Zedekiah) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Judah), amar (spoke),

“Thus amar (spoke) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies): ‘Behold, I will shabar (break) the qashath (bow) of Iyalam (Elam), the raashayath (beginning) of their gabawarah (might).

On Iyalam (Elam) will I bawaa (bring) the arabai (four) rawachawath (winds) from the arabai (four) quarters of the sky, and will zarah (scatter) them toward all those rawachawath (winds); and there shall be no gaway (heathen / nation) where the nadachay (outcasts) of Iyalam (Elam) shall not bawaa (bring).

I will cause Iyalam (Elam) to be chathath (dismayed) panayam (face) their ayab (enemy), and panayam (face) those who baqash (seek) their napash (soul); and I will bawaa (come) rai (evil) on them, even my charawan (fierce) ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting),’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah (); ‘and I will shalach (send) the charab (sword) achar (other) them, until I kalah (complete / finish) consumed them;

And I will shawam (place / establish / appoint) my kasaa (throne) in Iyalam (Elam), and will abad (destroy / perish) from there malak (king) and sharayam (princes),’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().

‘But it shall happen in the acharayath (latter) yamayam (days), that I will shawab (turn back / repent) back the shabawath (captivity) of Iyalam (Elam),’ naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah ().”
