Daniel 1 — Novel English Bible

In the shalawash (three) shanah (year) of the malakawath (reign) of Yahawayaqayam (Jehoiakim) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) bawaa (bring) Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) malak (king) of Babal (Babylon) to Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem), and tzawar (besieged) it.

The Adanay () nathan (give) Yahawayaqayam (Jehoiakim) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Judah) into his yad (hand), with qatzath (part) of the kalayam (vessels) of the bayath (house) of Alahayam (); and he bawaa (come) them into the aratz (Earth/land) of Shanair (Shinar) to the bayath (house) of his Alahayam (): and he bawaa (come) the kalayam (vessels) into the awatzar (treasure) bayath (house) of his Alahayam ().

The malak (king) amar (said) to Ashapanaz (Ashpenaz) the rab (master) of his sarayas (eunuchs), that he should bawaa (bring) in certain of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), even of the zarai (seed) malawakah (royal) and of the parathamayam (nobles);

Youths in whom was no maawam (blemish), but tawab (good / proper function) - favored, and shakal (skillful) in all chakamah (wisdom), and endowed with daith (knowledge), and bayan (between) madai (science), and such as had kach (strength / mighty / power) to imad (stand) in the malak (king) hayakal (palace); and that he should lamad (teach / instruct) them the sapar (book / scribed document) and the lashawan (tongue / language) of the Kashaday (Chaldeans).

The malak (king) manah (appointed) for them a yawam (day) dabar (word / matter) of the malak (king) dainties, and of the yayan (wine) which he mashathah (drank), and that they should be gadal (nourished) shalawash (three) shanayam (two); that at its qatzath (end) they should imad (stand) panayam (face) the malak (king).

Now among these were, of the banay (my son) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), Danayaal (Daniel), Chananayah (Hananiah), Mayashaal (Mishael), and Izarayah (Azariah).

The shar (prince / ruler) of the sarayasayam (eunuchs) shawam (place / establish / appoint) shamawath (names) to them: to Danayaal (Daniel) he shawam (place / establish / appoint) the name of Balatashaatzar (Belteshazzar); and to Chananayah (Hananiah), of Shadarak (Shadrach); and to Mayashaal (Mishael), of Mayashak (Meshach); and to Izarayah (Azariah), of Ibadanagaw (Abednego).

But Danayaal (Daniel) shawam (place / establish / appoint) in his lab (heart) that he would not gaal (defile) himself with the malak (king) dainties, nor with the yayan (wine) which he mashathah (drank): therefore he baqash (requested) of the shar (prince / ruler) of the sarayasayam (eunuchs) that he might not gaal (defile) himself.

Now Alahayam () nathan (give) Danayaal (Daniel) to find chasad (grace) and racham (show mercy / love) in the panayam (face) of the shar (prince / ruler) of the sarayasayam (eunuchs).

The shar (prince / ruler) of the sarayasayam (eunuchs) amar (spoke) to Danayaal (Daniel), “I yaraa (fear) my Adawan () the malak (king), who has manah (appointed) your maakal (food) and your mashathah (drink): for why should he raah (see) your panayam (face) worse raah (see) than the youths who are of your own age? So would you chawab (endanger) my raash (head) with the malak (king).”

Then Danayaal (Daniel) amar (said) to the steward whom the shar (prince / ruler) of the sarayasayam (eunuchs) had manah (appointed) over Danayaal (Daniel), Chananayah (Hananiah), Mayashaal (Mishael), and Izarayah (Azariah):

“Test your ibad (servant), I beg you, ishar (ten) yamayam (days); and nathan (give) them give us vegetables to akal (eat), and mayam (Waters) to shathah (drinks).

Then let our maraah (faces) be raah (see / saw) on panayam (face) you, and the maraah (face) of the youths who akal (eat) of the malak (king) dainties; and as you raah (see / saw), ishah (make) with your ibad (servant).”

So he shamai (hearken / hear) to them in this dabar (word / matter), and nasah (proved) them ishar (ten) yamayam (days).

At the qatzath (end) of ishar (ten) yamayam (days) their maraah (faces) raah (see / saw) fairer, and they were fatter in bashar (flesh), than all the youths who akal (eat) of the malak (king) dainties.

So the steward nashaa (lift) away their dainties, and the yayan (wine) that they should mashathah (drink), and nathan (give) them zarai (pulse).

Now as for these arabai (four) youths, Alahayam () nathan (give) them madai (knowledge) and shakal (skill) in all sapar (book / scribed document) and chakamah (wisdom): and Danayaal (Daniel) had bayan (between) in all chazawan (vision) and chalamawath (dreams).

At the qatzath (end) of the yamayam (days) which the malak (king) had amar (said) for bawaa (bring) them in, the shar (prince / ruler) of the sarayasayam (eunuchs) bawaa (bring) them in panayam (face) Nabawakadanaatzar (Nebuchadnezzar).

The malak (king) dabar (word / matter) with them; and among them all was matzaa (found) none like Danayaal (Daniel), Chananayah (Hananiah), Mayashaal (Mishael), and Izarayah (Azariah): therefore imad (stood) they panayam (face) the malak (king).

In every dabar (word / matter) of chakamah (wisdom) and bayanah (understanding), concerning which the malak (king) inquired of them, he matzaa (found) them ishar (ten) times better than all the charatamayam (magicians) and enchanters who were in all his malakawath (realm).

Danayaal (Daniel) continued even to the achad (one) shanah (year) of malak (king) Kawarash (Cyrus).
