Hosea 8 — Novel English Bible

“Put the shawapar (Shofar / Ram's horn) to your lips! Something like an nashar (eagle) is over Yahawah () bayath (house), because they ibar (pass over/through) broken my barayath (covenant), and pashai (rebelled) against my thawarah (instruction).

They zaiq (cry) to me, ‘My Alahayam (), we Yashar-Al (Israel) yadai (acknowledge) you!’

Yashar-Al (Israel) has zanach (cast) off that which is tawab (good / proper function). The ayab (enemy) will radap (pursue) him.

They have set up hamalayakaw (kings), but not by me. They have made hashayaraw (princes), and I didn't approve. Of their kasap (silver) and their zahab (gold) they ishah (make) made themselves itzabayam (idols), that they may be karath (cut) off.

Let Shamarawan (Samaria) throw out his igal (calf) idol! My ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) charah (hot with anger) against them! How long will it be until they are capable of purity?

For this is even from Yashar-Al (Israel)! The charash (workman) ishah (make) it, and it is no Alahayam (); indeed, the igal (calf) of Shamarawan (Samaria) shall be shabab (broken) in pieces.

For they zarai (sow) the rawach (spirit / wind), and they will qatzar (reap) the sawapah (whirlwind). He has no standing grain. The stalk will ishah (make) no qamach (head). If it ishah (make) yield, strangers will balai (swallow) it up.

Yashar-Al (Israel) is balai (swallowed) up. Now they are among the gawayam (heathen) like a worthless thing.

For they have ilah (go up / offer) up to Ashawar (Assyria), like a paraa (wild) donkey wandering badad (alone). Aparayam (Ephraim) has thanah (hired) ahabayam (lovers) for himself.

But although they sold themselves among the gawayam (heathen), I will now qabatz (gather) them; and they begin to waste mashaa (away) because of the oppression of the malak (king) of mighty ones.

Because Aparayam (Ephraim) rabah (has) multiplied mazabachath (altars) for chataa (sinning), they became for him mazabachath (altars) for chataa (sinning).

I kathab (write) for him the many things of my thawarah (Torah / Instruction); but they were chashab (regarded) as a zawar (strange) thing.

As for the yazabachaw (sacrifices) of my habahab (offerings), they zabach (sacrifice) bashar (flesh) and akal (eat) it; But Yahawah () doesn't ratzah (accept) them. Now he will zakar (remember) their iwan (guilt/iniquity), and paqad (visit) their chataah (sin). They will shawab (turn back / repent) to Matzarayam (Egypt).

For Yashar-Al (Israel) has shakach (forgotten) his Maker and banah (build) hayakalawath (palaces); and Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) rabah (has) multiplied batzar (fortified) irayam (cities); but I will shalach (send) a ash (fire) on his irayam (cities), and it will akal (eat) its fortresses.”
