Leviticus 11 — Novel English Bible

Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses) and to Aharawan (Aaron), amar (spoke) to them,

“Dabar (word / matter) to the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (said), ‘These are the chay (life) things which you may akal (eat) among all the animals that are on the aratz (Earth/land).

Whatever paras (parts) the parasah (hoof), and is cloven-footed, and chews the garah (cud) among the animals, that you may akal (eat).

“‘ak (nevertheless) these you shall not akal (eat) of those that chew the garah (cud), or of those who paras (part) the parasah (hoof): the gamal (camel), because he chews the garah (cud) but doesn't paras (have) a parted parasah (hoof), he is tamaa (unclean) to you.

The Shapan (coney), because he chews the garah (cud) but doesn't paras (have) a parted parasah (hoof), he is tamaa (unclean) to you.

The aranabath (hare), because she chews the garah (cud) but doesn't paras (part) the parasah (hoof), she is tamaa (unclean) to you.

The pig, because he paras (has) a split parasah (hoof), and is cloven-footed, but doesn't garar (chew) the garah (cud), he is tamaa (unclean) to you.

Of their bashar (flesh) you shall not akal (eat), and their carcasses you shall not nagai (touch); they are tamaa (unclean) to you.

“‘These you may akal (eat) of all that are in the mayam (Waters): whatever has sanapayar (fins) and qashaqashath (scales) in the mayam (Waters), in the yamayam (seas), and in the nachalayam (rivers), that you may akal (eat).

All that don't have sanapayar (fins) and qashaqashath (scales) in the yamayam (seas), and in the nachalayam (rivers), of all that sharatz (move) in the mayam (Waters), and of all the chay (life) napash (soul) that are in the mayam (Waters), they are an shaqatz (abomination) to you,

And you detest them. You shall not akal (eat) of their bashar (flesh), and you shall detest their carcasses.

Whatever has no sanapayar (fins) nor qashaqashath (scales) in the mayam (Waters), that is an shaqatz (abomination) to you.

“‘These you shall shaqatz (detest) man (from) the iwap (flying); they shall not be akal (eat), they are an shaqatz (abomination): the nashar (eagle), and the vulture, and the black vulture,

And the red ayah (kite), any mayan (species) of black ayah (kite),

Any mayan (species) of irab (evening),

The horned banath (daughter), the screech owl, and the gull, any mayan (species) of natz (hawk),

The little kawas (owl), the shalak (cormorant), the great kawas (owl),

The white owl, the desert owl, the osprey,

The chasayadah (stork), any mayan (species) of anapah (heron), the hoopoe, and the italap (bat).

“‘All iwap (flying) insects that walk on all arabai (four) are an shaqatz (abomination) to you.

Yet you may akal (eat) these: of all winged sharatz (creeping) things that halak (move) on all arabai (four), which have karaiyam (legs) mail (top/above) their ragal (feet / foot), with which to hop on the aratz (Earth/land).

Even of these you may akal (eat): any mayan (species) of arabah (locust), any mayan (species) of katydid, any mayan (species) of cricket, and any mayan (species) of grasshopper.

But all winged sharatz (creeping) things which have arabai (four) ragalayam (feet), are an shaqatz (abomination) to you.

“‘By these you will become tamaa (unclean): whoever touches their carcass shall be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening).

Whoever nashaa (lift) any part of their carcass shall kabas (wash) his clothes, and be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening).

“‘Every animal which paras (parts) the parasah (hoof), and is not shasai (cloven-footed), nor chews the garah (cud), is tamaa (unclean) to you. Everyone who touches them shall be tamaa (unclean).

Whatever halak (move) on its kap (paws), among all animals that halak (move) on all arabai (four), they are tamaa (unclean) to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening).

He who nashaa (lift) their carcass shall kabas (wash) his clothes, and be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening). They are tamaa (unclean) to you.

“‘These are they which are tamaa (unclean) to you among the sharatz (creeping) things that sharatz (swarm as many) on the aratz (Earth/land): the chalad (weasel), the rat, any mayan (species) of great lizard,

The gecko, and the monitor lizard, the wall lataah (lizard), the skink, and the chameleon.

These are they which are tamaa (unclean) to you among all that sharatz (creep). Whoever touches them when they are mawath (death), shall be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening).

On whatever any of them napal (fall / be cast down) when they are mawath (death), it shall be tamaa (unclean); whether it is any kalay (vessel) of itz (wood), or bagad (clothing), or iwar (skin), or shaq (sack), whatever kalay (vessel) it is, with which any malaakah (work) is ishah (make), it must be bawaa (bring) into mayam (Waters), and it shall be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening); then it will be clean.

Every charash (earthen) kalay (vessel), into which any of them napal (fall / be cast down), all that is in it shall be tamaa (unclean), and you shall shabar (break) it.

All akal (food) which may be akal (eat), that on which mayam (Waters) bawaa (bring), shall be tamaa (unclean); and all mashaqah (drink) that may be shathah (drinks) in every such kalay (vessel) shall be tamaa (unclean).

Everything whereupon part of their carcass napal (fall / be cast down) shall be tamaa (unclean); whether thanawar (oven), or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are tamaa (unclean), and shall be tamaa (unclean) to you.

Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which mayam (Waters) is a gathered shall be tahawar (clean): but that which touches their carcass shall be tamaa (unclean).

If part of their carcass napal (fall / be cast down) on any zarawai (sowing) zarai (seed) which is to be zarai (sown), it is tahawar (clean).

But if mayam (Waters) is nathan (give) on the zarai (seed), and part of their carcass napal (fall / be cast down) on it, it is tamaa (unclean) to you.

“‘If any animal, of which you may akalah (eat), mawath (death); he who touches its carcass shall be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening).

He who akal (eat) of its carcass shall kabas (wash) his clothes, and be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening). He also who nashaa (lift) its carcass shall kabas (wash) his clothes, and be tamaa (unclean) until the irab (evening).

“‘Every sharatz (creeping) thing that sharatz (swarm as many) on the aratz (Earth/land) is an shaqatz (abomination). It shall not be akal (eat).

Whatever halak (move) on its gachawan (belly), and whatever halak (move) on all arabai (four), or whatever has many ragalayam (feet), even all sharatz (creeping) things that sharatz (swarm as many) on the aratz (Earth/land), them you shall not akal (eat); for they are an shaqatz (abomination).

You shall not shaqatz (make) yourselves shaqatz (abominable) with any sharatz (creeping) thing that sharatz (swarm as many), neither shall you make yourselves tamaa (unclean) with them, that you should be tamaa (defiled) thereby.

For I am Yahawah () your Alahayam (). Qadash (set apart / make holy) yourselves therefore, and be qadawash (holy); for I am qadawash (holy): neither shall you tamaa (defile) yourselves with any kind of sharatz (creeping) thing that moves on the aratz (Earth/land).

For I am Yahawah () who ilah (go up / offer) you up out of the aratz (Earth/land) of Matzarayam (Egypt), to be your Alahayam (). You shall therefore be qadawash (holy), for I am qadawash (holy).

“‘This is the thawarah (Torah / Instruction) of the animal, and of the iwap (flying), and of every chay (life) napash (soul) that ramash (moves) in the mayam (Waters), and of every napash (soul) that sharatz (swarm as many) on the aratz (Earth/land),

To badal (separated) a distinction between the tamaa (unclean) and the tahawar (clean), and between the chay (life) thing that may be akal (eat) and the chay (life) thing that may not be akal (eat).’”
