Leviticus 12 — Novel English Bible

1 Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses), amar (spoke),

2 “Dabar (word / matter) to the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (said), ‘If a ayashah (woman / wife) zarai (conceives), and yalad (birth / begot) a zakar (remember) child, then she shall be tamaa (unclean) shabai (seven) yamayam (days); as in the yamayam (days) of her monthly period she shall be tamaa (unclean).

3 In the shamayanay (eighth) yawam (day) the bashar (flesh) of his iralah (foreskin) shall be mawal (circumcised).

4 She shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the dam (blood) of taharah (purification) shalawashayam (thirty)- shalawash (three) yamayam (days). She shall not nagai (touch) any qadash (set apart / make holy) thing, nor bawaa (bring) into the maqadash (sanctuary), until the yamayam (days) of her purifying are completed.

5 But if she yalad (birth / begot) a naqabah (female) child, then she shall be tamaa (unclean) two shabaiyam (seventy), as in her period; and she shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the dam (blood) of taharah (purification) shashayam (sixty) - shash (six) yamayam (days).

6 “‘When the yamay (days) of her purification are completed, for a ban (son), or for a banath (daughter), she shall bawaa (bring) to the kahan (priest) at the pathach (door) of the ahal (tent) of Meeting, a shanah (year) old kabash (lamb) for a burnt ilah (offering), and a ban (son) yawanah (pigeon), or a turtledove, for a chataah (sin) offering:

7 And he shall qarab (come close) it panayam (face) Yahawah (), and make kapar (atonement) for her; and she shall be tahar (cleansed) from the maqawar (fountain) of her dam (blood). “‘This is the thawarah (instruction) for her who yalad (birth / begot), whether a zakar (remember) or a naqabah (female).

8 If she cannot afford a shah (lamb), then she shall take shanayam (two) turtledoves, or shanayam (two) ban (son) yawanah (pigeons); the achad (one) for a burnt ilah (offering), and the other for a sin ilah (offering): and the kahan (priest) shall make kapar (atonement) for her, and she shall be tahar (clean).’”
