2 “Kah (𐤊𐤄) YaAmar (says) Yahawah () Tzabaawath (armies): LaAmar (say), HaIm (these people) HaZah (this / that / these) Amaraw (said/spoke) Laa (NOT) ‘Ith (time) Bawaa (coming), Ith (time) Bayath (house) Yahawah () LaHaBanahawath (to [causing] built - plural).’”
3 WaYaHayah (And came to pass) Dabar (word / matter came) Yahawah () BaYad (in hand) Chagay (Haggai), HaNabayaa (the prophet), LaAmar (saying),
4 “HaIth (Time) Lakam (for you) Athaham (you) LaYashabath (to dwell) BaBayathayakam (paneled in your houses), Sapawanayam (𐤎𐤐𐤅𐤍 - plural) WaHaBayath (and this house) HaZah (this / that / these) Charab (lies waste)?
5 WaIthah (And now / present moment) Kah (𐤊𐤄) YaAmar (says) Yahawah () Tzabaawath (Now therefore armies): Shawayamaw (you consider) Lababakam (your 𐤋𐤁𐤁) Il-Darakayakam (over your ways).
6 Zaraitham (You sown) HaRabah ([causing] much), WaHaBawaa (and [causing] bring) Mait (little). Akawal (eat), WaAyan (And no ONE) LaShabaih (enough). Shathahaw (drink him), WaAyan (And no ONE) LaShakarah (filled drink). Labawash (clothe) WaAyan (and yourselves), LaCham (one warm), Law (for him) WaHaMaThaShakar (and who [reflexive] earns wages) MaThaShakar ([reflexive] earns wages) Al-Tzarawar (to put bag) Naqawab (holes).”
7 Kah (𐤊𐤄) YaAmar (says) Yahawah () Tzabaawath (armies): “Shawayamaw (you consider) Lababakam (your 𐤋𐤁𐤁) Il-Darakayakam (over your ways).
8 Ilahaw (You go up) HaHar (the mountain), WaHaBawaatham (and you [causing] bring) Itz (tree), WaBanahaw (and you build) HaBayath (the house). WaARatzah (And I take pleasure), Baw (within him) WaAKabad (And I glorified),” YaAmar (says) Yahawah ().
9 “Panah (turn) for much, and, behold, LaMait (it came to little); WaHaBawaatham (and when you brought) HaBayath (the it home), WaNapachathay (and I blew) it away. Why?” Naam (declares prophetically) Yahawah () Tzabaawath (of Armies), “YainaBayathay (Because of my house) Charab (that lies waste), while each of you is busy with his LaBayathaw (his own house).
10 Il-Kan (Over for sure) Ilayakam (went up you) Kalaaw (withhold) Shamayam (Heavens) MaTal (from dew), WaHaAratz (and the earth) Kalaah (withholds) Yabawalah (its fruit).
11 WaAQaraa (And I called) Charab (drought) Il-HaAratz (over the land), WaIl-HaHarayam (and over the mountains), WaIl (and grain), HaDagan (the 𐤃𐤂𐤍) WaIl-HaThayarawash (and over the new wine), WaIl-HaYatzahar (and over the oil), WaIlaAsharaThaYawatzayaa (and over who/that brings forth), HaAdamah (the ground) WaIl-HaAdam (and over the men), WaIl (and livestock), HaBahamah (the animal / beast) WaIlaKal (and over every) Yagayai (labor) Kapayam (hands).”
