Zechariah 7 — Novel English Bible

It happened in the arabai (four) shanah (year) of malak (king) Darayawash (Darius) that the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came to Zakarayah (Zechariah) in the arabai (four) day of the thashayaiy (ninth) chadash (month), the month of Kasalaw (Chislev).

The ayash (man / husband) of Al (Bethel) shalach (send) Sharaatzar (Sharezer) and Ragamamalak (Regem Melech), and their ayash (man / husband), to entreat Yahawah () favor,

And to amar (spoke) to the kahanayam (priests) of the bayath (house) of Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies), and to the nabayaayam (prophets), amar (spoke), “Should I bakah (weep) in the chamayashay (fifth) chadash (month), nazar (crown / consecrate) myself, as I ishah (make) done these so many shanayam (years)?”

Then the dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) came to me, amar (spoke),

“Amar (said) to all the im (nation / people) of the aratz (Earth/land), and to the kahanayam (priests), amar (said), ‘When you tzawam (fasted) and sapad (mourned) in the chamayashay (fifth) and in the shabayaiy (seventh) month for these shabaiyam (seventy) shanah (years), did you at tzawam (all) tzawam (fast) to me, really to me?

When you akal (eat), and when you shathah (drinks), don't you akal (eat) for yourselves, and shathah (drinks) for yourselves?

Aren't these the dabarayam (words) which Yahawah () qaraa (called) by the raashawan (former) nabayaayam (prophets), when Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) was yashab (inhabit/dwell) and in shalaw (prosperity), and its iyar (cities) around her, and the nagab (south) and the lowland were yashab (inhabit/dwell)?’”

The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () came to Zakarayah (Zechariah), amar (spoke),

“Thus has Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) amar (spoke), amar (spoke), ‘shapat (judge / judgement) amath (truth) mashapat (judgment), and show chasad (grace) and racham (show mercy / love) every ayash (man / husband) to his ach (brother/kinsman).

Don't ishaq (oppress) the alamanah (widow), nor the yathawam (fatherless), the foreigner, nor the inay (poor); and let none of you chashab (devise) rai (evil) against his ach (brother/kinsman) in your labab (heart).’

But they maan (refused) to listen, and nathan (give) their backs, and kabad (stopped) their azan (ear), that they might not shamai (hearken / hear).

Yes, they shawam (place / establish / appoint) their lab (heart) as hard as flint, lest they might shamai (hearken / hear) the thawarah (instruction), and the dabarayam (words) which Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) had shalach (send) by his rawach (spirit / wind) by the raashawan (former) nabayaayam (prophets). Therefore gadawal (very great/important/mighty) qatzap (wrath) came from Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies).

It has come to pass that, as he qaraa (called), and they refused to shamai (hearken / hear), so they will qaraa (called), and I will not shamai (hearken / hear),” amar (spoke) Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies);

“But I will sair (scatter) them with a whirlwind among all the gawayam (heathen) which they yadai (have) not known. Thus the aratz (Earth/land) was shamah (desolate) achar (other) them, so that no ibar (pass over/through) passed through nor shawab (turn): for they shawam (place / establish / appoint) the chamadah (pleasant) aratz (Earth/land) shamah (desolate).”
