Numbers 16 — Novel English Bible

Now Qarach (Korah), the ban (son) of Yatzahar (fresh oil), the ban (son) of Qahath (Kohath), the ban (son) of Laway (Levi), with Dathan (Dathan) and Abayaram (Abiram), the banay (my son) of Alayaab (Eliab), and On, the ban (son) of Palath (Peleth), banay (my son) of Raawaban (Reuben), laqach (take / seize) men:

And they qawam (rise up) up panayam (face) Mashah (Moses), with ayash (man / husband) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), two maah (hundred) chamashayam (fifty) nashayaay (princes) of the mawaid (Feast/Holy Day), called to the idah (assembly), anashayam (men) of sham (name);

And they qahal (assembled) themselves together against Mashah (Moses) and against Aharawan (Aaron), and amar (spoke) to them, “You take rab (too) much on yourself, since all the idah (congregation) are qadawash (holy), everyone of them, and Yahawah () is thawak (midst) them: why then nashaa (lift) yourselves up above the qahal (assembly) of Yahawah ()?”

When Mashah (Moses) shamai (hearken / hear) it, he napal (fall / be cast down) on his panayam (face):

And he dabar (word / matter) to Qarach (Korah) and to all his idah (company), amar (spoke), “In the baqar (morning) Yahawah () yadai (will) show who are his, and who is qadawash (holy), and will cause him to qarab (come close) near to him: even him whom he shall bachar (choose) he will cause to qarab (come close) near to him.

Ishah (make) this: laqach (take / seize) machathawath (censers), Qarach (Korah), and all his idah (company);

And nathan (give) ash (fire) in them, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) qatarath (incense) on them panayam (face) Yahawah () machar (tomorrow): and it shall be that the ayash (man / husband) whom Yahawah () bachar (chooses), he shall be qadawash (holy). You rab (have) gone too far, you banay (sons) of Laway (Levi)!”

Mashah (Moses) amar (said) to Qarach (Korah), “shamai (hearken / hear) now, you banay (my son) of Laway (Levi)!

Is it a mait (small) thing to you, that the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel) has badal (separated) you from the idah (congregation) of Yashar-Al (Israel), to qarab (come close) you near to himself, to ibad (servant) the ibadah (service) of the mashakan (tabernacle) of Yahawah (), and to imad (stand) panayam (face) the idah (congregation) to sharath (minister) to them;

And that he has qarab (come close) you near, and all your ach (brother/kinsman) the banay (my son) of Laway (Levi) with you? And do you baqash (seek) the kahanah (priesthood) also?

Therefore you and all your idah (company) are yaid (gathered) together against Yahawah (): and Aharawan (Aaron), what is he that you lawan (murmur) against him?”

Mashah (Moses) shalach (send) to qaraa (called) Dathan (Dathan) and Abayaram (Abiram), the banay (my son) of Alayaab (Eliab); and they amar (said), “We won't ilah (go up / offer) up:

Is it a mait (small) thing that you have ilah (go up / offer) us up out of a aratz (Earth/land) zawab (flow) with chalab (milk) and dabash (honey), to mawath (death) us in the madabar (wilderness), but you must also sharar (make) yourself a sharar (prince) over us?

Moreover you haven't bawaa (bring) us into a aratz (Earth/land) zawab (flow) with chalab (milk) and dabash (honey), nor nathan (give) us nachalah (inheritance) of shadah (fields) and karam (vineyards): will you naqar (put) out the iyanay (eyes) of these anashayam (men)? We won't ilah (go up / offer) up.”

Mashah (Moses) was very charah (hot with anger), and amar (spoke) to Yahawah (), “Don't panah (turn) their manachah (offering): I have not nashaa (lift) achad (one) donkey from them, neither have I raii (wicked / dysfunctional / evil) achad (one) of them.”

Mashah (Moses) amar (spoke) to Qarach (Korah), “You and all your idah (company) go panayam (face) Yahawah (), you, and they, and Aharawan (Aaron), machar (tomorrow):

And each ayash (man / husband) laqach (take / seize) his machathah (censer), and nathan (give) qatarath (incense) on them, and each ayash (man / husband) qarab (come close) panayam (face) Yahawah () his machathah (censer), two maah (hundred) chamashayam (fifty) machathath (censers); you also, and Aharawan (Aaron), ayash (man / husband) his machathah (censer).”

They ayash (man / husband) laqach (take / seize) his machathah (censer), and nathan (give) ash (fire) in them, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) qatarath (incense) thereon, and imad (stood) at the pathach (door) of the ahal (tent) of Meeting with Mashah (Moses) and Aharawan (Aaron).

Qarach (Korah) qahal (assembled) all the idah (congregation) against them to the pathach (door) of the ahal (tent) of Meeting: and the kabawad (glory) of Yahawah () raah (see) to all the idah (congregation).

Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses) and to Aharawan (Aaron), amar (spoke),

“Badal (separated) yourselves from thawak (midst) this idah (congregation), that I may kalah (complete / finish) them in a ragai (in an instance)!”

They napal (fall / be cast down) on their panayam (face), and amar (spoke), “Alahayam (), the Al of the rawachath (spirits) of all bashar (flesh), shall achad (one) ayash (man / husband) chataa (sin), and will you be qatzap (angry) with all the idah (congregation)?”

Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses), amar (spoke),

“Dabar (word / matter) to the idah (congregation), amar (said), ‘ilah (go up / offer) away from around the mashakan (tent) of Qarach (Korah), Dathan (Dathan), and Abayaram (Abiram)!’”

Mashah (Moses) qawam (rise up) up and yalak (went) to Dathan (Dathan) and Abayaram (Abiram); and the zaqanay (elders) of Yashar-Al (Israel) yalak (followed) him.

He dabar (word / matter) to the idah (congregation), amar (said), “sawar (depart), please, from the ahalay (tents) of these rashai (wicked) anashayam (men), and nagai (touch) nothing of theirs, lest you be sapah (consumed) in all their chataah (sin)!”

So they ilah (go up / offer) away from the mashakan (tent) of Qarach (Korah), Dathan (Dathan), and Abayaram (Abiram), on sabayab (surrounding) side: and Dathan (Dathan) and Abayaram (Abiram) yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and natzab (stood) at the pathach (door) of their ahal (tents), and their wives, and their ban (son), and their little tap (ones).

Mashah (Moses) amar (spoke), “Hereby you shall yadai (know) that Yahawah () has shalach (send) me to ishah (make) all these maishayam (works); for they are not from my own lab (heart).

If these men mawath (death) the common mawath (death) of all adam (men), or if they be paqad (visit) after the paqadah (visitation) of all adam (men); then Yahawah () hasn't shalach (send) me.

But if Yahawah () baraa (created) a barayaah (new) thing, and the adamah (ground) patzah (open) its pah (mouth), and balai (swallow) them up, with all that appertain to them, and they yarad (go) down chay (life) into shaawal (Sheol / afterlife); then you shall yadai (understand) that these yadaitham (men) have naatz (despised) Yahawah ().”

It happened, as he kalah (complete / finish) an end of dabar (word / matter) all these dabarayam (words), that the adamah (ground) split apart that was under them;

And the aratz (Earth/land) pathach (opened) its pah (mouth), and balai (swallowed) them up, and their bayath (house), and all the adam (men) who appertained to Qarach (Korah), and all their rakawash (wealth / property / goods / possessions).

So they, and all that appertained to them, yarad (went) down chay (life) into shaawal (Sheol / afterlife): and the aratz (Earth/land) kasah (closed) on them, and they abad (destroy / perish) from thawak (midst) the qahal (assembly).

All Yashar-Al (Israel) that were around them nawas (fled) at their qawal (sound / voice); for they amar (said), “Lest the aratz (Earth/land) balai (swallow) us up!”

Ash (fire) yatzaa (go out / come out) forth from Yahawah (), and akal (eat) the two maah (hundred) chamashayam (fifty) ayash (man / husband) who qarab (come close) the qatarath (incense).

Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses), amar (spoke),

"Amar (spoke) to the ban (son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and rawam (will lift up) of them rods, one for each fathers' house, of all their kahan (priest) according to their fathers' houses, twelve rods: write every ban (son) amar (spoke) on his rod.

You shall write Aaron's name on the rod of Laway (Levi); for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers' houses.

You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you.

It shall happen, that the rod of the ayash (husband/individual man) whom I shall choose shall bud: and I will qarab (come close) to cease from me the murmurings of the ban (son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), which they murmur against you.

Mashah (Moses) amar (spoke) to the ban (son) of Yashar-Al (Israel); and all their princes amar (spoke) him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aharawan (Aaron) was il (over) their rods.

Mashah (Moses) laid up the rods before Yahawah () in the ahal (tent) of the testimony.

It happened on the next day, that Mashah (Moses) bawaa (come) into the ahal (tent) of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aharawan (Aaron) for the house of Laway (Levi) was budded, and bawaa (come) forth buds, and produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.

Mashah (Moses) brought out all the rods from before Yahawah () to all the children of Yashar-Al (Israel): and they looked, and took every man his rod.

Yahawah () said to Mashah (Moses), "Put back the rod of Aharawan (Aaron) panayam (before) the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may kalah (complete / finish) an end of their murmurings against me, that they not napal (fall / be cast down).

Mashah (Moses) nathan (give) so. As Yahawah () amar (spoke) him, so he nathan (give).

The children of Yashar-Al (Israel) dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses), dabar (word / matter), "Behold, we perish! We are undone! We are all undone!

Everyone who comes near, who comes near to the tabernacle of Yahawah (), mawath (death)! Will we mawath (death) perish?

Now those who mawath (death) by the magapah (plague) were fourteen alap (thousand) and shabai (seven) maah (hundred), besides those who mawath (death) about the dabar (word / matter) of Qarach (Korah).

Aharawan (Aaron) shawab (turn) to Mashah (Moses) to the pathach (door) of the ahal (tent) of Meeting: and the magapah (plague) was itzar (stayed).
