Numbers 36 — Novel English Bible

1 The raashay (heads) of the abawath (fathers)’ households of the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the banay (my son) of Galaid (Gilead), the ban (son) of Makayar (Machir), the ban (son) of Manashah (Manasseh), of the mashapachath (families) of the banay (my son) of Yawasap (Joseph), qarab (come close) near, and dabar (word / matter) panayam (face) Mashah (Moses), and panayam (face) the nashaayam (princes), the raashay (heads) of the abawath (fathers)’ households of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel):

2 And they amar (spoke), “Yahawah () tzawah (commanded) my Adawan () to nathan (give) the aratz (Earth/land) for nachalah (inheritance) by gawaral (lot) to the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel): and my Adawan () was tzawah (commanded) by Yahawah () to nathan (give) the nachalah (inheritance) of Tzalapachad (Zelophehad) our ach (brother/kinsman) to his banath (daughter).

3 If they are married to any of the banay (my son) of the other shabatay (tribes) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), then will their nachalah (inheritance) be taken away from the nachalah (inheritance) of our ab (father), and will be yasap (added) to the nachalah (inheritance) of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) whereunto they shall belong: so will it be taken away from the gawaral (lot) of our nachalah (inheritance).

4 When the yawabal (jubilee) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shall be, then will their nachalah (inheritance) be yasap (added) to the nachalah (inheritance) of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) whereunto they shall belong: so will their nachalah (inheritance) be taken garai (away) from the nachalah (inheritance) of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) of our ab (father).”

5 Mashah (Moses) tzawah (commanded) the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) according to the pah (word) of Yahawah (), amar (spoke), “The matah (staff / rod / tribe) of the banay (sons) of Yawasap (Joseph) dabarayam (speaks) right.

6 This is the thing which Yahawah () does tzawah (command) concerning the banawath (daughters) of Tzalapachad (Zelophehad), amar (spoke), ‘Let them be married to whom they iyan (eye) tawab (good / proper function); only into the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) of their ab (father) shall they be married.

7 So shall no nachalah (inheritance) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) sabab (remove) from matah (staff / rod / tribe) to matah (staff / rod / tribe); for the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shall all dabaq (keep) the nachalah (inheritance) of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) of his ab (father).

8 Every banath (daughter) who possesses an nachalah (inheritance) in any matah (staff / rod / tribe) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shall be ayashah (woman / wife) to achad (one) of the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) of her ab (father), that the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) may yarash (possess) every ayash (man / husband) the nachalah (inheritance) of his ab (father).

9 So shall no nachalah (inheritance) sabab (remove) from one matah (staff / rod / tribe) to achar (other) matah (staff / rod / tribe); for the matawath (tribes) of the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shall ayash (man / husband) dabaq (keep) his own nachalah (inheritance).’”

10 The banawath (daughters) of Tzalapachad (Zelophehad) ishah (make) as Yahawah () tzawah (commanded) Mashah (Moses):

11 For Machalah (Mahlah), Tharatzah (Tirzah), and Chagalah (Hoglah), and Malakah (Milcah), and Naih (Noah), the banawath (daughters) of Tzalapachad (Zelophehad), were married to their dawad (father's) brothers’ banay (my son).

12 They were married into the mashapachath (families) of the banay (my son) of Manashah (Manasseh) the ban (son) of Yawasap (Joseph); and their nachalah (inheritance) remained in the matah (staff / rod / tribe) of the mashapachah (tribe / clan / family) of their ab (father).

13 These are the matzawath (commandments) and the mashapatayam (ordinances) which Yahawah () tzawah (commanded) by Mashah (Moses) to the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) in the irabath (plains) of Mawaab (Moab) by the Yaradan (Jordan) at Yarayachaw (Jericho).
