Deuteronomy 21 — Novel English Bible

If one be matzaa (found) chalal (slain) in the adamah (land) which Yahawah () your Alahayam () nathan (give) you to yarash (possess) it, napal (fall / be cast down) in the shadah (field), and it isn't yadai (known) who has nakah (struck) him;

Then your zaqan (elders) and your shapat (judge / judgement) shall yatzaa (go out / come out) forth, and they shall madad (measure) to the irayam (cities) which are around him who is chalal (slain):

And it shall be, that the iyar (city) which is nearest to the chalal (slain) man, even the zaqanay (elders) of that iyar (city) shall laqach (take / seize) a baqar (morning) of the herd, which hasn't been ibad (servant) with, and which has not mashak (drawn) in the il (over);

And the zaqanay (elders) of that iyar (city) shall yarad (bring) down the igalah (heifer) to a nachal (stream / river) with running ibad (servant), which is neither plowed nor zarai (sown), and shall irap (break) the igalah (heifer's) irap (neck) there in the nachal (stream / river).

The kahanayam (priests) the banay (sons) of Laway (Levi) shall nagash (come) near; for them Yahawah () your Alahayam () has bachar (chosen) to sharath (minister) to him, and to barak (blessed) in the sham (name) of Yahawah (); and according to their pah (word) shall every rayab (controversy) and every nagai (stroke) be.

All the zaqanay (elders) of that iyar (city), who are nearest to the chalal (slain) man, shall rachatz (wash) their yad (hand) over the igalah (heifer) whose irap (neck) was broken in the nachal (stream / river);

And they shall inah (answer / respond) and amar (said), “Our yad (hand) have not shapak (shed) this dam (blood), neither have our iyan (eye) raah (see / saw) it.

Kapar (forgive), Yahawah (), your im (nation / people) Yashar-Al (Israel), whom you have padah (redeemed), and don't allow naqay (innocent) dam (blood) in the qarab (among / near) of your im (nation / people) Yashar-Al (Israel).” The dam (blood) shall be kapar (forgiven) them.

So you shall bair (put) away the naqay (innocent) dam (blood) from the qarab (among / near) of you, when you shall ishah (make) that which is yashar (upright) in the iyanay (eyes) of Yahawah ().

When you yatzaa (go out / come out) forth to malachamah (battle) against your ayab (enemy), and Yahawah () your Alahayam () nathan (give) them into your yad (hand), and you shabah (carry) them shabay (away) captive,

And raah (see / saw) among the shabayah (captives) a thaar (beautiful) ayashah (woman / wife), and you chashaq (have) a desire to her, and would laqach (take / seize) her to you as ayashah (woman / wife);

Then you shall bawaa (bring) her home to your bayath (house); and she shall galach (shave) her raash (head), and ishah (make) her tzaparan (nails);

And she shall sawar (put) the shamalah (clothing) of her shabayah (captivity) from off her, and shall yashab (inhabit/dwell) in your bayath (house), and bakah (bewail) her ab (father) and her am (mother) a yawam (day) yarach (month): and achar (other) that you shall bawaa (bring) in to her, and be her bail (husband), and she shall be your ayashah (woman / wife).

It shall be, if you chapatz (have) no delight in her, then you shall shalach (send) her go where she napash (soul); but you shall not makar (sell) her at makar (all) for kasap (money), you shall not deal with her as a slave, ashar (who/that) you have inah (answer / respond) her.

If a ayash (man / husband) have shanayam (two) wives, the achad (one) ahab (love), and the other shanaa (hate), and they have yalad (birth / begot) him banayam (children), both the ahab (love) and the shanaa (hate); and if the bakawar (firstborn) ban (son) be hers who was shanayaa (hated);

Then it shall be, in the yawam (day) that he causes his ban (son) to nachal (inherit) that which he yakal (has), that he may not make the ban (son) of the ahab (love) the bakar (firstborn) panayam (face) the ban (son) of the shanaa (hate), who is the bakawar (firstborn):

But he shall nakar (acknowledge) the bakawar (firstborn), the ban (son) of the shanaa (hate), by nathan (give) him a shanayam (two) pah (portion) of all that he matzaa (has); for he is the raashayath (beginning) of his awan (strength); the mashapat (right) of the bakawarah (firstborn) is his.

If a ayash (man / husband) have a sarar (stubborn) and rebellious ban (son), who will not shamai (hearken / hear) the qawal (sound / voice) of his ab (father), or the qawal (sound / voice) of his am (mother), and, though they yasar (chasten) him, will not shamai (hearken / hear) to them;

Then shall his ab (father) and his am (mother) thapash (lay) hold on him, and yatzaa (go out / come out) him out to the zaqanay (elders) of his iyar (city), and to the shair (gate) of his maqawam (place);

And they shall amar (said) the zaqanay (elders) of his iyar (city), “This our ban (son) is sarar (stubborn) and rebellious, he will not shamai (hearken / hear) our qawal (sound / voice); he is a zalal (glutton), and a drunkard.”

All the anashay (men) of his iyar (city) shall ragam (stone) him to mawath (death) with ragam (stones): so you shall bair (put) bair (away) the rai (evil) from the qarab (among / near) of you; and all Yashar-Al (Israel) shall shamai (hearken / hear), and yaraa (fear / be afraid).

If a ayash (man / husband) have committed a chataa (sin) mashapat (worthy) of mawath (death), and he be put to mawath (death), and you thalah (hang) him on a itz (tree);

His nabalah (body) shall not remain all lawan (night) on the itz (tree), but you shall surely qabar (bury) him the same yawam (day); for he who is hanged is qalalah (accursed) of Alahayam (); that you don't tamaa (defile) your adamah (land) which Yahawah () your Alahayam () nathan (give) you for an nachalah (inheritance).
