Joshua 23 — Novel English Bible

It happened achar (other) many yamayam (days), when Yahawah () had given nawach (rest) to Yashar-Al (Israel) from their ayab (enemy) all around, and Yahawashawai (Joshua) was zaqan (old) and well advanced in yamayam (years),

That Yahawashawai (Joshua) qaraa (called) for all Yashar-Al (Israel), for their zaqan (elders) and for their raash (head), and for their shapat (judge / judgement) and for their shatar (officers), and amar (said) to them, “I am zaqan (old) and well advanced in yamayam (years).

You raah (see) seen all that Yahawah () your Alahayam () ishah (make) done to all these gawayam (nations) panayam (face) of you; for it is Yahawah () your Alahayam () who has lacham (fought) for you.

Raah (see / saw), I napal (fall / be cast down) allotted to you these gawayam (heathen) that shaar (remain), to be an nachalah (inheritance) for your shabat (tribes), from the Yaradan (Jordan), with all the gawayam (heathen) that I have karath (cut) off, even to the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) yam (sea/waters) toward the mabawaa (going) down of the sun.

Yahawah () your Alahayam () will hadap (thrust) them out from panayam (face) you, and yarash (drive) them from out of your panayam (face). You shall yarash (possess) their aratz (Earth/land), as Yahawah () your Alahayam () dabar (word / matter) to you.

“Therefore be very courageous to shamar (keep/guard) and to ishah (make) all that is kathab (write) in the sapar (book / scribed document) of the thawarah (Torah / Instruction) of Mashah (Moses), that you not sawar (turn) aside from it to the right yamayan (right hand) or to the shamaawal (left hand);

That you not bawaa (come) among these gawayam (nations), these that shaar (remain) among you; neither zakar (remember) mention of the sham (name) of their Alahayam (), nor cause to shabai (swear / take oath) by them, neither ibad (servant) them, nor shachah (bow) down yourselves to them;

But hold fast to Yahawah () your Alahayam (), as you ishah (make) done to this yawam (day).

“For Yahawah () has driven gadawal (very great/important/mighty) and itzawam (strong) gawayam (nations) out from panayam (face) you. But as for you, no ayash (man / husband) has imad (stood) panayam (face) you to this yawam (day).

Achad (one) ayash (man / husband) of you shall radap (chase) a alap (thousand); for it is Yahawah () your Alahayam () who lacham (fights) for you, as he dabar (word / matter) to you.

Take maad (good) shamar (keep/guard) therefore to yourselves, that you ahab (love) Yahawah () your Alahayam ().

“But if you shawab (turn) at all shawab (turn) back, and hold fast to the yathar (remnant) of these gawayam (heathen), even these who shaar (remain) among you, and chathan (make) marriages with them, and bawaa (bring) in to them, and they to you;

Yadai (know) for a certainty that Yahawah () your Alahayam () will no yasap (longer) drive these gawayam (nations) from out of your panayam (face); but they shall be a pach (snare / trap) and a mawaqash (trap) to you, a shatat (scourge) in your tzad (sides), and tzananayam (thorns) in your iyan (eye), until you abad (destroy / perish) from off this tawab (good / proper function) adamah (land) which Yahawah () your Alahayam () nathan (give) given you.

“Behold, today I am halak (move) the darak (way) of all the aratz (Earth/land). You yadai (know) in all your labab (hearts) and in all your napash (soul) that not achad (one) thing napal (fall / be cast down) failed of all the tawab (good / proper function) things which Yahawah () your Alahayam () dabar (word / matter) concerning you. All bawaa (come) happened to you. Not achad (one) thing napal (fall / be cast down) failed of it.

It shall happen that as all the tawab (good / proper function) things bawaa (come) come on you of which Yahawah () your Alahayam () dabar (word / matter) to you, so Yahawah () will bawaa (come) on you all the rai (evil) things, until he has destroyed you from off this tawab (good / proper function) adamah (land) which Yahawah () your Alahayam () nathan (give) given you,

When you disobey the barayath (covenant) of Yahawah () your Alahayam (), which he tzawah (commanded) you, and halak (move) and ibad (servant) other Alahayam (), and shachah (bow) down yourselves to them. Then the ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) of Yahawah () will be charah (hot with anger) against you, and you will abad (destroy / perish) maharah (quickly) from off the tawab (good / proper function) aratz (Earth/land) which he nathan (give) given to you.”
