Judges 12 — Novel English Bible

1 The ayash (man / husband) of Aparayam (Ephraim) were tzaiq (gathered) together, and ibar (pass over/through) northward; and they amar (said) to Yapathach (Jephthah), “Why ibar (pass over/through) you pass over to lacham (fight) against the banay (my son) of Imawan (Ammon), and didn't qaraa (called) us to yalak (go) with you? We will sharap (burn) your bayath (house) around you with ash (fire)!”

2 Yapathach (Jephthah) amar (said) to them, “I and my im (nation / people) were at maad (great) strife with the banay (my son) of Imawan (Ammon); and when I zaiq (called) you, you didn't yashai (salvation) me out of their yad (hand).

3 When I raah (see) that you didn't yashai (salvation) me, I shawam (place / establish / appoint) my napash (soul) in my kap (hand), and ibar (pass over/through) over against the banay (children) of Imawan (Ammon), and Yahawah () nathan (give) them into my yad (hand). Why then have you ilah (go up / offer) up to me this yawam (day), to lacham (fight) against me?”

4 Then Yapathach (Jephthah) qabatz (gathered) together all the anashay (men) of Galaid (Gilead), and lacham (fought) with Aparayam (Ephraim); and the anashay (men) of Galaid (Gilead) nakah (struck) Aparayam (Ephraim), because they amar (said), “You are palayatay (fugitives) of Aparayam (Ephraim), you Galaid (Gileadites), in the thawak (midst) of Aparayam (Ephraim), and in the thawak (midst) of Manashah (Manasseh).”

5 The Galaid (Gileadites) lakad (took) the maibarawath (fords) of the Yaradan (Jordan) against the Aparayam (Ephraimites). It was so, that when the palayatay (fugitives) of Aparayam (Ephraim) amar (said), “Let me ibar (pass over/through) over,” the ibar (pass over/through) of Galaid (Gilead) amar (said) to him, “Are you an Aparathay (Ephraimite)?” If he amar (said), “No;”

6 Then they amar (said) to him, “Now amar (said) ‘shabal (shibboleth);’” and he amar (said) “sabalath (sibboleth)”; for he couldn't manage to dabar (word / matter) it kawan (right): then they siezed him, and shachat (killed) him at the maibarawath (fords) of the Yaradan (Jordan). At that ith (time), arabaiyam (forty) - shanayam (two) alap (thousand) of Aparayam (Ephraim) napal (fall / be cast down).

7 Yapathach (Jephthah) shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel) shash (six) shanayam (two). Then Yapathach (Jephthah) the Galaiday (Gileadite) mawath (death), and was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) in the iray (cities) of Galaid (Gilead).

8 Achar (other) him Abatzan (Ibzan) of Bayath-Lacham (Bethlehem) shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel).

9 He had shalawashayam (thirty) banayam (sons); and shalawashayam (thirty) banawath (daughters) he shalach (send) chawatz (abroad), and shalawashayam (thirty) banawath (daughters) he bawaa (bring) in from chawatz (abroad) for his banayam (sons). He shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel) shabai (seven) shanayam (two).

10 Abatzan (Ibzan) mawath (death), and was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) at Bayath-Lacham (Bethlehem).

11 Achar (other) him Ayalawan (Elon) the Zabawalanay (Zebulunite) shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel); and he shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel) ishar (ten) shanayam (two).

12 Ayalawan (Elon) the Zabawalanay (Zebulunite) mawath (death), and was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) in Ayalawan (Aijalon) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Zabawalawan (Zebulun).

13 Achar (other) him Ibadawan (Abdon) the ban (son) of Halal (praise) the paraithawanay (pirathonite) shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel).

14 He had arabaiyam (forty) banayam (sons) and shalawashayam (thirty) banayam (sons) sons’, who rakab (rode) on shabaiyam (seventy) donkey iyaram (colts): and he shapat (judge / judgement) Yashar-Al (Israel) shamanah (eight) shanayam (two).

15 Ibadawan (Abdon) the ban (son) of Halal (praise) the paraithawanay (pirathonite) mawath (death), and was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) in Paraithawan (Pirathon) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Aparayam (Ephraim), in the har (mountain) country of the Imalaqay (Amalekites).
