Samuel 30 — Novel English Bible

It happened, when Dawad (David) and his ayash (man / husband) bawaa (bring) come to Tzaqalag (Ziklag) on the shalayashay (third) yawam (day), that the Imalaqay (Amalekites) had pashat (made) a raid on the nagab (south), and on Tzaqalag (Ziklag), and had nakah (struck) Tzaqalag (Ziklag), and sharap (burned) it with ash (fire),

And had shabah (taken) captive the nashayam (women) and all who were therein, both qatan (small / young / least) and gadawal (very great/important/mighty). They didn't mawath (death) any, but nahag (carried) them off, and yalak (went) their darak (way).

When Dawad (David) and his ayash (man / husband) bawaa (bring) to the iyar (city), behold, it was sharap (burned) with ash (fire); and their wives, and their ban (son), and their banath (daughter), were shabah (taken) captive.

Then Dawad (David) and the im (nation / people) who were with him nashaa (lift) up their qawal (sound / voice) and bakah (wept), until they had no more kach (strength / mighty / power) to bakah (weep).

Dawad (David's) shanayam (two) wives were shabah (taken) captive, Achayanaim (Ahinoam) the yazaraialayath (jezreelitess), and Abayagayal (Abigail) the ayashah (woman / wife) of Nabal (Nabal) the karamalay (carmelite).

Dawad (David) was maad (greatly) yatzar (distressed); for the im (nation / people) amar (spoke) of saqal (stoning) him, because the napash (soul) of all the im (nation / people) was grieved, every ayash (man / husband) for his ban (son) and for his banath (daughter): but Dawad (David) chazaq (strengthened) himself in Yahawah () his Alahayam ().

Dawad (David) amar (said) to Abayathar (Abiathar) the kahan (priest), the ban (son) of Achayamalak (Ahimelech), “Please nagash (bring) me here the apawad (ephod). Abayathar (Abiathar) nagash (brought).” the apawad (ephod) to Dawad (David).

Dawad (David) inquired of Yahawah (), amar (spoke), “If I radap (pursue) achar (other) this gadawad (troop), shall I nashag (overtake) them?” He amar (spoke) him, “radap (pursue); for you shall nashag (surely) nashag (overtake) them, and shall natzal (without) fail natzal (recover) all.”

So Dawad (David) yalak (went), he and the shash (six) maah (hundred) ayash (man / husband) who were with him, and bawaa (bring) to the nachal (stream / river) Bashawar (Besor), where those who were yathar (left) behind imad (stayed).

But Dawad (David) radap (pursued), he and arabai (four) maah (hundred) ayash (man / husband); for two maah (hundred) imad (stayed) behind, who were so pagar (faint) that they couldn't ibar (pass over/through) over the nachal (stream / river) Bashawar (Besor).

They matzaa (found) an Matzaray (Egyptian) in the shadah (field), and laqach (take / seize) him to Dawad (David), and nathan (give) him lacham (bread), and he akal (eat); and they gave him mayam (Waters) to shaqah (drink).

They nathan (give) him a palach (piece) of a dabalah (fig cake) of figs, and shanayam (two) clusters of tzamaqayam (raisins). When he had akal (eat), his rawach (spirit / wind) shawab (turn) again to him; for he had akal (eat) no lacham (bread), nor shathah (drinks) any mayam (Waters), shalawash (three) yamayam (days) and shalawash (three) layalawath (nights).

Dawad (David) asked him, “To whom do you belong? Where are you from?” He amar (said), “I am a nair (young) man of Matzaray (Egypt), ibad (servant) to an Amalekite; and my adawan (master / lord) izab (left) me, because shalawash (three) yawam (day) ago I chalah (afflict) sick.

We pashat (made) a raid on the nagab (south) of the Karathay (Cherethites), and on that which belongs to Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and on the nagab (south) of Kalab (Caleb); and we sharap (burned) Tzaqalag (Ziklag) with ash (fire).”

Dawad (David) amar (spoke) to him, “Will you yarad (bring) me down to this gadawad (troop)?” He amar (spoke), “shabai (swear / take oath) to me by Alahayam () that you will neither mawath (death) me, am (mother) sagar (deliver) me up into the yad (hand) of my adawan (master / lord), and I will yarad (bring) you down to this gadawad (troop).”

When he had yarad (brought) him down, behold, they were natash (spread) around over all the aratz (Earth/land), akal (eat), shathah (drinks), and chagag (dancing), because of all the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) shalal (spoil) that they had laqach (take / seize) out of the aratz (Earth/land) of the Palashathay (Philistines), and out of the aratz (Earth/land) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah).

Dawad (David) nakah (struck) them from the nashap (twilight) even to the irab (evening) of the next macharath (day). Not a ayash (man / husband) of them malat (escaped) from there, except arabai (four) maah (hundred) nair (young) ayash (man / husband), who rakab (rode) on gamalayam (camels) and nawas (fled).

Dawad (David) natzal (recovered) all that the Imalaq (Amalekites) had laqach (take / seize); and Dawad (David) natzal (rescued) his shanayam (two) wives.

There was nothing idar (lacking) to them, man (from) qatan (small / young / least) nor gadawal (very great/important/mighty), neither banayam (sons) nor banawath (daughters), neither shalal (spoil), nor anything that they had laqach (take / seize) to them. Dawad (David) laqach (take / seize) back all.

Dawad (David) laqach (take / seize) all the tzaan (flocks) and the baqar (morning), which they nahag (drove) panayam (face) hawaa (which/who/that is) other livestock, and amar (said), “This is Dawad (David's) shalal (spoil).”

Dawad (David) bawaa (bring) to the two maah (hundred) anashayam (men), who were so pagar (faint) that they could not yalak (follow) Dawad (David), whom also they had yashab (inhabit/dwell) to stay at the nachal (stream / river) Bashawar (Besor); and they yatzaa (go out / come out) forth to qaraa (called) Dawad (David), and to qaraa (called) the im (nation / people) who were with him. When Dawad (David) nagash (came) near to the im (nation / people), he shaal (greeted) them.

Then all the rai (wicked) anashayam (men) and base anashayam (fellows), of those who halak (move) with Dawad (David), amar (said) and amar (said), “Because they didn't go with us, we will not nathan (give) them anything of the shalal (spoil) that we have natzal (recovered), except to every ayash (man / husband) his ayashah (woman / wife) and his ban (son), that he may nahag (lead) them away, and depart.”

Then Dawad (David) amar (spoke), “You shall not ishah (make) so, my ach (brother/kinsman), with that which Yahawah () nathan (give) given to us, who has shamar (keep/guard) us, and nathan (give) the gadawad (troop) that bawaa (come) against us into our yad (hand).

Who will shamai (hearken / hear) to you in this dabar (word / matter)? For as his share is who yarad (goes) down to the malachamah (battle), so shall his share be who yashab (inhabit/dwell) by the baggage: they shall share yachad (alike).”

It was so from that yawam (day) mail (top/above), that he shawam (place / establish / appoint) it a chaq (statute) and an mashapat (ordinance) for Yashar-Al (Israel) to this yawam (day).

When Dawad (David) bawaa (come) to Tzaqalag (Ziklag), he shalach (send) of the shalal (spoil) to the zaqanay (elders) of Yahawadah (Judah), even to his rai (neigbor/another person), amar (spoke), “Behold, a barakah (present) for you of the shalal (spoil) of the ayabay (enemies) of Yahawah ().”

He sent it to those who were in Bayath-Al (Bethel), and to those who were in Ramawath (Ramoth) of the ramawath (south), and to those who were in Yathayar (Jattir),

And to those who were in Irawair (Aroer), and to those who were in Shapamawath (Siphmoth), and to those who were in Ashathamai (Eshtemoa),

And to those who were in Rakal (Racal), and to those who were in the iray (cities) of the Yarachamaalay (Jerahmeelites), and to those who were in the iray (cities) of the Qayanay (Kenites),

And to those who were in Charamah (Hormah), and to those who were in Kawaraishan (Borashan), and to those who were in Ithak (Athach),

And to those who were in Chabarawan (Hebron), and to all the maqamawath (places) where Dawad (David) himself and his halak (move) used to stay.
