1 Chronicles 18 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Achar (other) this it happened, that Dawad (David) nakah (struck) the Palashathay (Philistines), and kanai (subdued) them, and laqach (take / seize) gath (gath) and its banath (daughter) out of the yad (hand) of the Palashathay (Philistines).

3 Dawad (David) nakah (struck) Hadadaizar (Hadadezer) malak (king) of Tzawabaa (Zobah) to Chamath (Hamath), as he yalak (went) to natzab (establish) his yad (hand) by the nahar (river) Parath (Euphrates).

4 Dawad (David) lakad (took) from him one alap (thousand) rakab (chariots), and shabai (seven) alap (thousand) horsemen, and isharayam (twenty) alap (thousand) footmen; and Dawad (David) hamstrung all the rakab (chariot) horses, but yathar (reserved) of them for one maah (hundred) rakab (chariots).

5 When the Aram (Syrians) of Damashaq (Damascus) came to help Hadadaizar (Hadadezer) king of Tzawabaa (Zobah), Dawad (David) struck of the Aram (Syrians) twenty-two thousand men.

6 Then Dawad (David) shawam (place / establish / appoint) garrisons in Aram (Syria) of Damashaq (Damascus); and the Aram (Syrians) became ibadayam (servants) to Dawad (David), and nashaa (lift) tribute. Yahawah () gave yashai (salvation) to Dawad (David) wherever he halak (move).

7 Dawad (David) laqach (take / seize) the shalatay (shields) of zahab (gold) that were on the ibaday (servants) of Hadadaizar (Hadadezer), and bawaa (come) them to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem).

8 From Tabachath (Tibhath) and from Kawan (Cun), iray (cities) of Hadadaizar (Hadadezer), Dawad (David) laqach (take / seize) very much nachashath (brass), with which Shalamah (Solomon) ishah (make) the bronze yam (sea/waters), and the imawadayam (pillars), and the kalay (vessels) of nachashath (brass).

9 When Thaiw (Tou) malak (king) of Chamath (Hamath) shamai (hearken / hear) that Dawad (David) had nakah (struck) all the chayal (army) of Hadadaizar (Hadadezer) malak (king) of Tzawabaa (Zobah),

10 He shalach (send) Hadawaram (Hadoram) his ban (son) to malak (king) Dawad (David), to shaal (greet) him, and to barak (blessed) him, because he had lacham (fought) against Hadadaizar (Hadadezer) and nakah (struck) him; (for Hadadezer had wars with Thaiw (Tou);) and he had with him all kinds of kalay (vessels) of zahab (gold) and kasap (silver) and nachashath (brass).

11 Malak (king) Dawad (David) also qadash (set apart / make holy) these to Yahawah (), with the kasap (silver) and the zahab (gold) that he nashaa (lift) away from all the gawayam (nations); from Adawam (Edom), and from Mawaab (Moab), and from the banay (children) of Imawan (Ammon), and from the Palashathay (Philistines), and from Imalaq (Amalek).

12 Moreover Abayashay (Abishai) the ban (son) of Tzarawayah (Zeruiah) nakah (struck) of the Adawam (Edomites) in the gayaa (valley) of malach (salt) eighteen alap (thousand).

13 He shawam (place / establish / appoint) natzayabayam (garrisons) in Adawam (Edom); and all the Adawam (Edomites) became ibadayam (servants) to Dawad (David). Yahawah () gave yashai (salvation) to Dawad (David) wherever he halak (move).

14 Dawad (David) malak (king) over all Yashar-Al (Israel); and he ishah (make) mashapat (justice) and tzadaqah (righteousness) to all his im (nation / people).

15 Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab) the ban (son) of Tzarawayah (Zeruiah) was over the tzabaa (troop); and Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) the ban (son) of Achayalawad (Ahilud) was zakar (remember);

16 And Tzadawaq (Zadok) the ban (son) of Achayatawab (Ahitub), and Abayamalak (Abimelech) the ban (son) of Abayathar (Abiathar), were kahanayam (priests); and Shawashaa (Shavsha) was sapar (book);

17 And Banayah (Benaiah) the ban (son) of Yahawayadai (Jehoiada) was over the Karathay (Cherethites) and the Palathay (Pelethites); and the banay (my son) of Dawad (David) were chief yad (hand) the malak (king).
