Kings 3 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Shalamah (Solomon) chathan (made) affinity with Paraih (Pharaoh) malak (king) of Matzarayam (Egypt), and laqach (take / seize) Paraih (Pharaoh's) banath (daughter), and bawaa (come) her into the iyar (city) of Dawad (David), until he kalah (complete / finish) made an end of banah (build) his own bayath (house), and the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and the chawamah (wall) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) all around.

Only the im (nation / people) zabach (sacrificed) in the bamah (high) places, because there was no bayath (house) banah (build) for the sham (name) of Yahawah () until those yamayam (days).

Shalamah (Solomon) ahab (love) Yahawah (), yalak (walking) in the chaqawath (statutes) of Dawad (David) his ab (father): only he zabach (sacrificed) and burnt qatar (incense) in the bamah (high) places.

The malak (king) yalak (went) to Gabaiwan (Gibeon) to zabach (sacrifice) there; for that was the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) bamah (high) place. Shalamah (Solomon - Patriarch) ilah (go up / offer) a alap (thousand) burnt ilawath (offerings) on that mazabach (altar).

In Gabaiwan (Gibeon) Yahawah () raah (see) to Shalamah (Solomon) in a chalawam (dream) by layal (night); and Alahayam () amar (spoke), “shaal (ask) what I shall nathan (give) you.”

Shalamah (Solomon - Patriarch) amar (said), “You ishah (make) shown to your ibad (servant) Dawad (David) my ab (father) gadawal (very great/important/mighty) loving chasad (grace), according as he halak (move) panayam (face) you in amath (truth), and in tzadaqah (righteousness), and in yasharah (uprightness) of labab (heart) with you. You have shamar (keep/guard) for him this gadawal (very great/important/mighty) loving chasad (grace), that you nathan (give) given him a ban (son) to yashab (inhabit/dwell) on his kasaa (throne), as it is this yawam (day).

Now, Yahawah () my Alahayam (), you have made your ibad (servant) malak (king) instead of Dawad (David) my ab (father). I am but a qatan (small / young / least) nair (child). I don't yadai (know) how to yatzaa (go out / come out) out or bawaa (come) in.

Your ibad (servant) is in the thawak (midst) of your im (nation / people) which you have bachar (chosen), a rab (great) im (nation / people), that can't be manah (numbered) nor sapar (book) for rab (multitude).

Nathan (give) your ibad (servant) therefore an shamai (hearken / hear) lab (heart) to shapat (judge / judgement) your im (nation / people), that I may bayan (between) between tawab (good / proper function) and rai (evil); for who is yakal (able) to shapat (judge / judgement) this your kabad (great) im (nation / people)?”

The dabar (word / matter) yatab (pleased) the Adanay (), that Shalamah (Solomon) had shaal (asked) this thing.

Alahayam () amar (spoke) to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not shaal (asked) for yourself rab (long) yawam (day), neither have shaal (asked) riches for yourself, nor have shaal (asked) the napash (soul) of your ayab (enemy), but have shaal (asked) for yourself bayan (between) to shamai (hearken / hear) mashapat (justice);

Behold, I ishah (make) done according to your dabar (word / matter). Behold, I nathan (give) given you a chakam (wise) and an bayan (between) lab (heart); so that there has been none like you panayam (face) you, neither achar (other) you shall any qawam (rise up) like you.

I nathan (give) also given you that which you have not shaal (asked), both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the malakayam (kings) like you, all your yawam (day).

If you will yalak (walk) in my darak (ways), to shamar (keep/guard) my chaq (statute) and my matzawah (commandments), as your ab (father) Dawad (David) halak (move), then I will arak (lengthen) your yawam (day).”

Shalamah (Solomon) awoke; and behold, it was a chalawam (dream). Then he bawaa (come) to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and imad (stood) panayam (face) the arawan (ark) of the barayath (covenant) of Yahawah (), and ilah (go up / offer) up burnt ilawath (offerings), ishah (make) peace ilawath (offerings), and ishah (make) a mashathah (feast) to all his ibad (servant).

Then shanayam (two) nashayam (women) who were prostitutes bawaa (bring) to the malak (king), and imad (stood) panayam (face) him.

The achad (one) ayashah (woman / wife) amar (spoke), “Oh, my Adawan (), I and this ayashah (woman / wife) yashab (inhabit/dwell) in achad (one) bayath (house). I yalad (birth / begot) a child with her in the bayath (house).

It happened the shalayashay (third) yawam (day) after I yalad (birth / begot), that this ayashah (woman / wife) yalad (birth / begot) also. We were yachad (together). There was no stranger with us in the bayath (house), just us shanayam (two) in the bayath (house).

This ayashah (woman / wife) ban (son) mawath (death) in the layal (night), because she shakab (lay) on it.

She qawam (rise up) at thawak (midst), and laqach (take / seize) my ban (son) from beside me, while your handmaid yashan (slept), and shakab (laid) it in her chayaq (bosom), and shakab (laid) her mawath (death) ban (son) in my chayaq (bosom).

When I qawam (rise up) in the baqar (morning) to yanaq (nurse) my ban (son), behold, it was mawath (death); but when I bayan (between) looked at it in the baqar (morning), behold, it was not my ban (son), whom I yalad (birth / begot).”

The other ayashah (woman / wife) amar (said), “No; but the chay (life) is my ban (son), and the mawath (death) is your ban (son).” This amar (said), “No; but the mawath (death) is your ban (son), and the chay (life) is my ban (son).” Thus they dabar (word / matter) panayam (face) the malak (king).

Then the malak (king) amar (said), “The zaath (this) amar (said), ‘This is my ban (son) who chay (life), and your ban (son) is the mawath (death);’ and the other amar (said), ‘No; but your ban (son) is the mawath (death) one, and my ban (son) is the chay (life) one.’”

The malak (king) amar (said), “laqach (take / seize) me a charab (sword).” They laqach (take / seize) a charab (sword) panayam (face) the malak (king).

The malak (king) amar (said), “gazar (divide) the chay (life) yalad (birth / begot) in shanayam (two), and nathan (give) chatzay (half) to the achad (one), and chatzay (half) to the other.”

Then the ayashah (woman / wife) whose the chay (life) ban (son) was amar (spoke) to the malak (king), for her racham (show mercy / love) kamar (yearned) over her ban (son), and she amar (spoke), “Oh, my Adawan (), nathan (give) her the chay (life) yalad (birth / begot), and in no mawath (death) mawath (death) it!” But the other amar (spoke), “It shall be neither mine nor yours. Gazar (divide) it.”

Then the malak (king) inah (answer / respond), “nathan (give) her the chay (life) yalad (birth / begot), and in no mawath (death) mawath (death) it. She is its am (mother).”

All Yashar-Al (Israel) shamai (hearken / hear) of the mashapat (judgment) which the malak (king) had shapat (judge / judgement); and they yaraa (fear / be afraid) the malak (king): for they raah (see) that the chakamah (wisdom) of Alahayam () was in him, to ishah (make) mashapat (justice).
