Samuel 12 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (said) to all Yashar-Al (Israel), “Behold, I have shamai (hearken / hear) to your qawal (sound / voice) in all that you amar (said) to me, and have malak (king) a malak (king) over you.

Now, behold, the malak (king) halak (move) panayam (face) you; and I am zaqan (old) and shayab (gray-headed); and behold, my ban (son) are with you: and I have halak (move) panayam (face) you from my naiwar (youth) to this yawam (day).

Here I am. Inah (answer / respond) against me before Yahawah (), and before his mashayach (anointed one). Whose shawar (ox) have I laqach (take / seize)? Whose donkey have I laqach (take / seize)? Whom have I ishaq (defrauded)? Whom have I ratzatz (oppressed)? Of whose yad (hand) have I taken a kapar (ransom) to ilam (blind) my iyan (eye) therewith? I will shawab (turn back / repent) it to you.”

They amar (said), “You have not ishaq (defrauded) us, nor ratzatz (oppressed) us, neither have you laqach (take / seize) anything of any ayash (man / husband) yad (hand).”

He amar (spoke) to them, “Yahawah () is id (until / as far as) against you, and his mashayach (anointed one) is id (until / as far as) this yawam (day), that you matzaa (have) not found anything in my yad (hand).” They amar (spoke), “He is id (until / as far as).”

Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (spoke) to the im (nation / people), “It is Yahawah () who ishah (make) Mashah (Moses) and Aharawan (Aaron), and that ilah (go up / offer) your ab (father) up out of the aratz (Earth/land) of Matzarayam (Egypt).

Now therefore yatzab (stand) still, that I may shapat (judge / judgement) with you panayam (face) Yahawah () concerning all the tzadaqah (righteousness) acts of Yahawah (), which he ishah (make) to you and to your ab (father).

“When Yaiqab (Jacob) bawaa (come) come into Matzarayam (Egypt), and your ab (father) zaiq (cried) to Yahawah (), then Yahawah () shalach (send) Mashah (Moses) and Aharawan (Aaron), who brought your ab (father) out of Matzarayam (Egypt), and yashab (inhabit/dwell) them to dwell in this maqawam (place).

“But they shakach (forgot) Yahawah () their Alahayam (); and he makar (sold) them into the yad (hand) of Sayasaraa (Sisera), shar (prince / ruler) of the tzabaa (troop) of Chatzawar (Hazor), and into the yad (hand) of the Palashathay (Philistines), and into the yad (hand) of the malak (king) of Mawaab (Moab); and they lacham (fought) against them.

They zaiq (cried) to Yahawah (), and amar (spoke), ‘We have chataa (sinned), because we have forsaken Yahawah (), and have ibad (servant) the Bail (Baals) and the Ishatharawath (Ashtaroth): but now natzal (deliver) us out of the yad (hand) of our ayab (enemy), and we will ibad (servant) you.’

Yahawah () shalach (send) Yarabail (Jerubbaal), and Badan (Bedan), and Yapathach (Jephthah), and Shamawaal (Samuel), and natzal (delivered) you out of the yad (hand) of your ayab (enemy) on sabayab (surrounding) side; and you lived in safety.

“When you raah (see) that Nachash (Nahash) the malak (king) of the banay (children) of Imawan (Ammon) bawaa (come) amar (spoke) you, you said to me, ‘No, but a malak (king) shall malak (king) over us;’ when Yahawah () your Alahayam () was your malak (king).

Now therefore see the malak (king) whom you have bachar (chosen), and whom you have shaal (asked) for: and behold, Yahawah () nathan (give) set a malak (king) over you.

If you will yaraa (fear / be afraid) Yahawah (), and ibad (servant) him, and shamai (hearken / hear) to his qawal (sound / voice), and not marah (rebel) against the commandment of Yahawah (), then both you and also the malak (king) who malak (king) over you are followers of Yahawah () your Alahayam ().

But if you will not shamai (hearken / hear) to the qawal (sound / voice) of Yahawah (), but marah (rebel) against the commandment of Yahawah (), then will the yad (hand) of Yahawah () be against you, as it was against your ab (father).

“Now gam (indeed / moreover) yatzab (stand) still and raah (see) this gadawal (very great/important/mighty) thing, which Yahawah () will ishah (make) before your iyan (eye).

Isn't it chatah (wheat) qatzayar (harvest) today? I will qaraa (called) to Yahawah (), that he may nathan (give) qawal (sound / voice) and matar (rain); and you shall yadai (know) and raah (see) that your rai (wickedness) is rab (great), which you ishah (make) done in the iyan (eye) of Yahawah (), in shaal (asking) for a malak (king).”

So Shamawaal (Samuel) qaraa (called) to Yahawah (); and Yahawah () nathan (give) qawal (sound / voice) and matar (rain) that yawam (day): and all the im (nation / people) maad (greatly) yaraa (fear / be afraid) Yahawah () and Shamawaal (Samuel).

All the im (nation / people) amar (spoke) to Shamawaal (Samuel), “palal (pray) for your ibad (servant) to Yahawah () your Alahayam (), that we not mawath (death); for we have yasap (added) to all our chataah (sin) this rai (evil), to shaal (ask) us a malak (king).”

Shamawaal (Samuel) amar (spoke) to the im (nation / people), “Don't be yaraa (fear / be afraid). You ishah (make) indeed done all this rai (evil); yet don't sawar (turn) aside from achar (other) Yahawah (), but ibad (servant) Yahawah () with all your labab (heart).

Don't sawar (turn) aside to go achar (other) thahaw (formless) things which can't yail (profit) nor natzal (deliver), for they are thahaw (formless).

For Yahawah () will not natash (forsake) his im (nation / people) for his gadawal (very great/important/mighty) sham (name) sake, because it has yaal (pleased) Yahawah () to ishah (make) you a im (nation / people) to himself.

Moreover as for me, chalayalah (far) be it from me that I should chataa (sin) against Yahawah () in chadal (ceasing) to palal (pray) for you: but I will yarah (instruct) you in the tawab (good / proper function) and the yashar (upright) darak (way).

Only yaraa (fear / be afraid) Yahawah (), and ibad (servant) him in amath (truth) with all your labab (heart); for raah (see) how gadal (great) things he has done for you.

But if you shall still raii (wicked / dysfunctional / evil) wickedly, you shall be sapah (consumed), both you and your malak (king).”
