1 Dawad (David) ilah (go up / offer) up from there, and lived in the strongholds of Iyan-Gaday (En Gedi).
2 It happened, when Shaawal (Saul) was yashab (inhabit/dwell) from following the Palashath (Philistines), that it was told him, saying, “Behold, Dawad (David) is in the wilderness of Iyan-Gaday (En Gedi).”
3 Then Shaawal (Saul) shawab (turn back / repent) three thousand chosen men out of all Yashar-Al (Israel), and shawab (turn back / repent) to seek Dawad (David) and his men on the rocks of the wild goats.
4 He yalak (came) to the sheep pens by the yalak (way), where there was a cave; and Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) yalak (went) in to relieve himself. Now Dawad (David) and his ayash (man / husband) were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.
5 The ayash (man / husband) of Dawad (David) said to him, “Behold, the day of which Yahawah () said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem ayash (man / husband) to you.’” Then Dawad (David) arose, and cut off the skirt of Shaawal (Saul's) robe secretly.
6 It happened afterward, that Dawad (David's) heart nathan (give) him, because he had karath (cut) off Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) kanap (skirt).
7 He said to his men, “Yahawah () forbid that I should hayah (came to pass) this thing to my Adawan (), Yahawah () anointed, to put forth my hand against him, since he is Yahawah () anointed.”
8 So Dawad (David) checked his ayash (man / husband) with these dabar (word / matter), and didn't allow them to rise against Shaawal (Saul). Shaawal (Saul) rose up out of the cave, and ishah (make) on his way.
9 Dawad (David) also qawam (rise up) afterward, and yalak (went) out of the mairah (cave), and nathan (give) al (toward) Shaawal (Saul), dabar (word / matter), “My Adawan () the king!” When Shaawal (Saul) looked behind him, Dawad (David) bowed with his face to the earth, and showed respect.
10 Dawad (David) amar (said) to Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife), “Why do you listen to men's words, amar (said), ‘Behold, Dawad (David) seeks your hurt?’
11 Behold, this day your eyes have seen how that Yahawah () had delivered you today into my hand in the cave. Some urged me to kill you; but I spared you; and I amar (spoke), I will not put forth my hand against my Adawan (); for he is Yahawah () anointed.
12 Moreover, my father, raah (see / saw), yes, raah (see / saw) the skirt of your robe in my yad (hand); for in that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and didn't harag (kill) you, know and raah (see / saw) that there is neither evil nor disobedience in my yad (hand), and I have not sinned against you, though you hunt for my yawam (day) to raah (see / saw) it.
13 May Yahawah () judge between me and you, and may Yahawah () avenge me of you; but my yad (hand) shall not be on you.
14 As the proverb of the ancients says, ‘Out of the wicked hayah (came to pass) forth wickedness;’ but my yad (hand) shall not be on you.
15 Against whom has the king of Yashar-Al (Israel) yatzaa (go out / come out) out? Whom do you pursue? A dead dog? A flea?
16 May Yahawah () therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and you, and see, and plead my yatzaa (go out / come out), and deliver me out of your hand.”
17 It came to pass, when Dawad (David) hayah (came to pass) made an end of speaking these words to Shaawal (Saul), that Shaawal (Saul) said, “Is this your voice, my son Dawad (David)?” Shaawal (Saul) lifted up his voice, and wept.
18 He amar (said) to Dawad (David), “You are more righteous than I; for you have hayah (came to pass) good to me, whereas I have hayah (came to pass) evil to you.
19 You have amar (spoke) this day how you have dealt tawab (good / proper function) with me, because when Yahawah () had delivered me up into your hand, you didn't kill me.
20 For if a ishah (make) finds his enemy, will he let him go away unharmed? Therefore may Yahawah () reward you tawab (good / proper function) for that which you ishah (make) done to me this yawam (day).
21 Now, behold, I know that you shall kay (surely) be king, and that the kingdom of Yashar-Al (Israel) shall be established in your matzaa (hand).
22 Yad (hand) now therefore to me by Yahawah (), that you will not cut off my seed after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father's house.”
