1 The arawan (ark) of Yahawah () was in the shadah (country) of the Palashathay (Philistines) shabai (seven) chadashayam (months).
2 The Palashathay (Philistines) qaraa (called) for the kahanayam (priests) and the diviners, amar (spoke), “What shall we ishah (make) with the arawan (ark) of Yahawah ()? Show us with which we shall shalach (send) it to its maqawam (place).”
3 They amar (spoke), “If you shalach (send) away the arawan (ark) of the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), don't shalach (send) it rayaqam (empty); but by shawab (turn back / repent) means shawab (turn back / repent) him a asham (trespass) offering: then you shall be rapaa (healed), and it shall be yadai (known) to you why his yad (hand) is not sawar (removed) from you.”
4 Then they amar (said), “What shall be the asham (trespass) offering which we shall shawab (turn) to him?” They amar (said), “chamash (five) zahab (gold) tumors, and chamash (five) zahab (gold) ikabaray (mice), for the masapar (number) of the saranay (lords) of the Palashathay (Philistines); for achad (one) magapah (plague) was on you all, and on your saranay (lords).
5 Therefore you shall ishah (make) tzalamay (images) of your tumors, and tzalamay (images) of your ikabar (mice) that shachath (mar) the aratz (Earth/land); and you shall nathan (give) kabawad (glory) to the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel): perhaps he will lighten his yad (hand) from off you, and from off your Alahayam (), and from off your aratz (Earth/land).
6 Why then kabad (do) you harden your labab (hearts), as the Matzaray (Egyptians) and Paraih (Pharaoh) kabad (hardened) their lab (heart)? When he had ilal (worked) wonderfully among them, didn't they shalach (send) the people go, and they departed?
7 “Now therefore laqach (take / seize) and ishah (make) yourselves a chadash (new) igalah (cart), and shanayam (two) milk parawath (cows), on which there has ilah (go up / offer) no il (over); and asar (tie) the parawath (cows) to the igalah (cart), and shawab (turn) their calves bayath (house) from them;
8 And laqach (take / seize) the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (), and nathan (give) it on the igalah (cart); and shawam (place / establish / appoint) the kalay (jewels) of zahab (gold), which you shawab (turn back / repent) him for a asham (trespass) offering, in a aragaz (coffer) by its tzad (side); and shalach (send) it away, that it may halak (move).
9 Raah (see / saw); if it ilah (go up / offer) up by the darak (way) of its own gabawal (border/boundary) to Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh), then he ishah (make) done us this gadawal (very great/important/mighty) rai (evil): but if not, then we shall yadai (know) that it is not his yad (hand) that nagai (struck) us; it was a maqarah (chance) that hayah (came to pass) to us.”
10 The yaishaw (men) ishah (make) so, and laqach (take / seize) shanayam (two) milk parawath (cows), and asar (tied) them to the igalah (cart), and kalaa (shut) up their calves at bayath (house);
11 And they shawam (place / establish / appoint) the arawan (ark) of Yahawah () on the igalah (cart), and the aragaz (coffer) with the ikabaray (mice) of zahab (gold) and the tzalamay (images) of their tumors.
12 The parawath (cows) took the yashar (upright) darak (way) by the darak (way) to Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh); they halak (move) along the masalah (highway), gaih (lowing) as they halak (move), and didn't sawar (turn) aside to the right yamayan (right hand) or to the shamaawal (left hand); and the saranay (lords) of the Palashathay (Philistines) halak (move) achar (other) them to the gabawal (border/boundary) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh).
13 They of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh) were qatzar (reaping) their chatah (wheat) qatzayar (harvest) in the imaq (valley); and they nashaa (lift) up their iyan (eye), and raah (see / saw) the arawan (ark), and shamach (rejoiced) to raah (see / saw) it.
14 The igalah (cart) bawaa (come) into the shadah (field) of Yahawashawai (Joshua) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh), and imad (stood) there, where there was a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) aban (stone): and they split the itz (wood) of the igalah (cart), and ilah (go up / offer) up the parawath (cows) for a burnt ilah (offering) to Yahawah ().
15 The Lawayay (Levites) yarad (took) down the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (), and the aragaz (coffer) that was with it, in which the kalay (jewels) of zahab (gold) were, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) them on the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) aban (stone): and the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh) ilah (go up / offer) burnt ilawath (offerings) and zabach (sacrificed) zabachayam (sacrifices) the same yawam (day) to Yahawah ().
16 When the chamash (five) saranay (lords) of the Palashathay (Philistines) raah (see / saw) seen it, they shawab (turn) to Iqarawan (Ekron) the same yawam (day).
17 These are the zahab (gold) tumors which the Palashathay (Philistines) shawab (turn back / repent) for a asham (trespass) offering to Yahawah (): for Ashadawad (Ashdod) achad (one), for Izah (Gaza) achad (one), for Ashaqalawan (Ashkelon) achad (one), for gath (gath) achad (one), for Iqarawan (Ekron) achad (one);
18 And the zahab (gold) ikabaray (mice), according to the masapar (number) of all the iray (cities) of the Palashathay (Philistines) belonging to the chamash (five) saranayam (lords), both of fortified iray (cities) and of country kapar (villages), even to the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) Abal (stone), whereon they yanach (set) down the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (). That stone remains to this yawam (day) in the shadah (field) of Yahawashawai (Joshua) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh).
19 He nakah (struck) of the anashay (men) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh), because they raah (see) looked into the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (), he nakah (struck) of the im (nation / people) chamashayam (fifty) alap (thousand) shabaiyam (seventy) anashay (men); and the im (nation / people) abal (mourned), because Yahawah () had nakah (struck) the anashay (people) with a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) makah (slaughter).
20 The anashay (men) of Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh) amar (spoke), “Who is yakal (able) to imad (stand) panayam (face) Yahawah (), this qadawash (holy) Alahayam ()? To whom shall he ilah (go up / offer) up from us?”
21 They shalach (send) malaakayam (messengers) to the yawashabay (inhabitants) of Kiriath Qarayath-Yairayam (Jearim), amar (spoke), “The Palashathay (Philistines) have shawab (turn back / repent) back the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (); yarad (come) down, and ilah (go up / offer) it up to yourselves.”
