2 Chronicles 15 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 The rawach (spirit / wind) of Alahayam () came on Izarayah (Azariah) the ban (son) of Iwadad (Oded):

2 And he yatzaa (go out / come out) out to panayam (face) Asaa (Asa), and amar (spoke) to him, “shamai (hearken / hear) me, Asaa (Asa), and all Yahawadah (Judah) and Banayamayan (Benjamin)! Yahawah () is with you, while you are with him; and if you darash (seek) him, he will be matzaa (found) by you; but if you izab (forsake) him, he will izab (forsake) you.

3 Now for a rab (long) yawam (day) Yashar-Al (Israel) was laa (NOT) the amath (truth) Alahayam (), and without a yarah (teaching) kahan (priest), and without thawarah (instruction).

4 But when in their tzar (oppressor / distressor) they shawab (turn back / repent) to Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), and baqash (sought) him, he was matzaa (found) by them.

5 In those ithayam (times) there was no shalawam (peace / safety) to him who yatzaa (go out / come out) out, nor to him who bawaa (bring) in; but rab (great) mahawamath (troubles) were on all the yawashabay (inhabitants) of the aratzawath (lands).

6 They were kathath (broken) in pieces, gaway (heathen / nation) against gaway (heathen / nation), and iyar (city) against iyar (city); for Alahayam () hamam (troubled) them with all tzarah (adversity).

7 But you be chazaq (strong), and don't let your yad (hand) be rapah (slack); for your pailah (work) yash (shall) be shakar (rewarded).”

8 When Asaa (Asa) shamai (hearken / hear) these dabarayam (words), and the nabawaah (prophecy) of Iwadad (Oded) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy), he chazaq (took) courage, and ibar (pass over/through) away the shaqawatzayam (abominations) out of all the aratz (Earth/land) of Yahawadah (Judah) and Banayamayan (Benjamin), and out of the irayam (cities) which he had lakad (taken) from the har (mountain) country of Aparayam (Ephraim); and he chadash (renewed) the mazabach (altar) of Yahawah (), that panayam (face) before the awalam (porch) of Yahawah ().

9 He qabatz (gathered) all Yahawadah (Judah) and Banayamayan (Benjamin), and those who lived with them out of Aparayam (Ephraim) and Manashah (Manasseh), and out of Shamaiwan (Simeon): for they napal (fall / be cast down) to him out of Yashar-Al (Israel) in rab (abundance), when they raah (see) that Yahawah () his Alahayam () was with him.

10 So they qabatz (gathered) themselves together at Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) in the shalayashay (third) chadash (month), in the fifteenth shanah (year) of the malakawath (reign) of Asaa (Asa).

11 They zabach (sacrificed) to Yahawah () in that yawam (day), of the shalal (spoil) which they bawaa (come) brought, shabai (seven) maah (hundred) baqar (morning) of cattle and shabai (seven) alap (thousand) tzaan (sheep).

12 They bawaa (come) into the barayath (covenant) to darash (seek) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of their ab (father), with all their labab (heart) and with all their napash (soul);

13 And that whoever would not darash (seek) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), should be put to mawath (death), man (from) qatan (small / young / least) or gadawal (very great/important/mighty), whether ayash (man / husband) or ayashah (woman / wife).

14 They shabai (swear / take oath) to Yahawah () with a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) qawal (sound / voice), and with tharawaih (shouting), and with chatzatzarawath (trumpets), and with shawaparawath (cornets).

15 All Yahawadah (Judah) shamach (rejoiced) at the shabawaih (oath); for they had shabai (swear / take oath) with all their labab (heart), and baqash (sought) him with their whole ratzawan (desire); and he was matzaa (found) of them: and Yahawah () gave them nawach (rest) all around.

16 Also Maikah (Maacah), the am (mother) of Asaa (Asa) the malak (king), he sawar (removed) from being gabayarah (queen), because she ishah (make) made an abominable mapalatzath (image) for an Asharah (Asherah); and Asaa (Asa) karath (cut) down her mapalatzath (image), and daqaq (made) dust of it, and burnt it at the nachal (stream / river) Qadarawan (Kidron).

17 But the bamah (high) places were not sawar (taken) away out of Yashar-Al (Israel): nevertheless the labab (heart) of Asaa (Asa) was shalam (full / whole / complete) all his yawam (day).

18 He bawaa (come) into the bayath (house) of Alahayam () the things that his ab (father) had qadash (set apart / make holy), and that he himself had qadash (set apart / make holy), kasap (silver), and zahab (gold), and kalayam (vessels).

19 There was no more malachamah (war) to the chamash (five) and shalawashayam (thirty) shanah (year) of the malakawath (reign) of Asaa (Asa).
