2 Chronicles 17 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place, and chazaq (strengthened) himself against Yashar-Al (Israel).

2 He nathan (give) chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) in all the batzar (fortified) iray (cities) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and nathan (give) natzayabayam (garrisons) in the aratz (Earth/land) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and in the iray (cities) of Aparayam (Ephraim), which Asaa (Asa) his ab (father) had lakad (taken).

3 Yahawah () was with Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat), because he halak (move) in the raashawan (first) darakay (ways) of his ab (father) Dawad (David), and didn't darash (seek) the Bail (Baals),

4 But darash (sought) to the Alahayam () of his ab (father), and halak (move) in his matzawah (commandments), and not after the maishah (doings) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

5 Therefore Yahawah () kawan (established) the mamalakah (kingdom) in his yad (hand); and all Yahawadah (Judah) nathan (give) to Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) tribute; and he had riches and honor in rab (abundance).

6 His lab (heart) was gabah (lifted) up in the darakay (ways) of Yahawah (): and furthermore he sawar (took) away the bamah (high) places and the Asharah (Asherim) out of Yahawadah (Judah).

7 Also in the shalawash (three) shanah (year) of his malak (king) he shalach (send) his shar (prince / ruler), even Banachayal (Ben Hail), and Ibadayah (Obadiah), and Zakarayah (Zechariah), and Nathanaal (Nethanel), and Mayakayahaw (Micaiah), to lamad (teach / instruct) in the iray (cities) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah);

8 And with them the Lawayay (Levites), even Shamaiyah (Shemaiah), and Nathanayah (Nethaniah), and Zabadayah (Zebadiah), and Ishahaal (Asahel), and Shamayaramawath (Shemiramoth), and Yahawanathan (Jehonathan), and Adanayah (Adanayah / Adonijah), and Tawabayah (Tobijah), and Tawabaadanayahaw (Tobadonijah), the Lawayay (Levites); and with them Alayashamai (Elishama) and Yahawaram (Jehoram), the kahanayam (priests).

9 They lamad (teach / instruct) in Yahawadah (Judah), having the sapar (book / scribed document) of the thawarah (instruction) of Yahawah () with them; and they sabab (went) about throughout all the iray (cities) of Yahawadah (Judah), and lamad (teach / instruct) among the im (nation / people).

10 The pachad (fear / dread) of Yahawah () fell on all the mamalakawath (kingdoms) of the aratzawath (lands) that were around Yahawadah (Judah), so that they made no lacham (war) against Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat).

11 Some of the Palashathay (Philistines) bawaa (bring) Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) manachah (presents), and kasap (silver) for tribute; the Irabay (Arabians) also bawaa (bring) him tzaan (flocks), shabai (seven) alap (thousand) and shabai (seven) maah (hundred) ayalayam (rams), and shabai (seven) alap (thousand) and shabai (seven) maah (hundred) male thayashayam (goats).

12 Yahawashapat (Jehoshaphat) halak (move) gadal (great) mail (top/above); and he banah (build) in Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) bayaranayawath (castles) and iray (cities) of masakanah (store).

13 He rab (had) many malaakah (works) in the iray (cities) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah); and rab (men) of malachamah (war), mighty rab (men) of valor, in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).

14 This was the numbering of them according to their ab (father)’ bayath (house): Of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), the sharay (captains) of alapayam (thousands): Idanah (Adnah) the shar (prince / ruler), and with him gabawar (mighty) men of valor shalawash (three) maah (hundred) alap (thousand);

15 And next to him Yahawachanan (Jehohanan) the shar (prince / ruler), and with him two maah (hundred) shamanayam (eighty) alap (thousand);

16 And next to him Imasayah (Amasiah) the ban (son) of Zakaray (Zichri), who nadab (willingly) offered himself to Yahawah (); and with him two maah (hundred) alap (thousand) gabawar (mighty) men of valor.

17 Of Banayamayan (Benjamin): Alayadai (Eliada) a gabawar (mighty) man of valor, and with him two maah (hundred) alap (thousand) nashaq (armed) with qashath (bow) and magan (shield);

18 And next to him Yahawazabad (Jehozabad) and with him one maah (hundred) shamanayam (eighty) alap (thousand) chalatz (ready) prepared for tzabaa (troop).

19 These were those who sharath (waited) on the malak (king), besides those whom the malak (king) nathan (give) in the fortified iray (cities) throughout all Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah).
