2 Chronicles 28 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Achaz (Ahaz) was isharayam (twenty) shanah (years) ban (son) when he began to malak (king); and he malak (king) sixteen shanah (years) in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem): and he didn't do that which was yashar (upright) in the iyanay (eyes) of Yahawah (), like Dawad (David) his ab (father);

2 But he yalak (walked) in the darakay (ways) of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and ishah (make) also masakah (molten) images for the Bail (Baals).

3 Moreover he burnt qatar (incense) in the gayaa (valley) of the ban (son) of Hanam (Hinnom), and burnt his banay (children) in the ash (fire), according to the thaibawath (abominations) of the gawayam (nations) whom Yahawah () yarash (cast) out panayam (face) the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

4 He zabach (sacrificed) and burnt qatar (incense) in the bamah (high) places, and on the gabaiwath (hills), and under every rainan (green) itz (tree).

5 Therefore Yahawah () his Alahayam () nathan (give) him into the yad (hand) of the malak (king) of Aram (Syria); and they nakah (struck) him, and shabah (carried) away of his a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) multitude of shabayah (captives), and bawaa (come) them to Damashaq (Damascus). He was also nathan (give) into the yad (hand) of the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel), who nakah (struck) him with a gadawal (very great/important/mighty) makah (slaughter).

6 For Paqach (Pekah) the ban (son) of Ramalayahaw (Remaliah) harag (kill) in Yahawadah (Judah) one maah (hundred) isharayam (twenty) alap (thousand) in achad (one) yawam (day), all of them chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) banay (men); because they had forsaken Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of their ab (father).

7 Zakaray (Zichri), a gabawar (mighty) man of Aparayam (Ephraim), harag (kill) Maishayah (Maaseiah) the malak (king) ban (son), and Izarayaqam (Azrikam) the nagayad (ruler) of the bayath (house), and Alaqanah (Elkanah) who was mashanah (next) to the malak (king).

8 The banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shabah (carried) away captive of their ach (brother/kinsman) two maah (hundred) alap (thousand), nashayam (women), banay (my son), and banawath (daughters), and bazaz (took) also away much shalal (spoil) from them, and bawaa (bring) the shalal (spoil) to Shamarawan (Samaria).

9 But a nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) of Yahawah () was there, whose sham (name) was Iwadad (Oded): and he yatzaa (go out / come out) out to panayam (face) the tzabaa (troop) that bawaa (come) to Shamarawan (Samaria), and amar (spoke) to them, “Behold, because Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of your ab (father), was angry with Yahawadah (Judah), he nathan (give) delivered them into your yad (hand), and you have harag (kill) them in a zaip (rage) which has nagai (reached) up to shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens).

10 Now you purpose to kabash (keep) under the banay (children) of Yahawadah (Judah) and Yarawashalam (Jerusalem) for ibadayam (bondservants) and bondmaids for yourselves. Aren't there even with you trespasses of your own against Yahawah () your Alahayam ()?

11 Now shamai (hearken / hear) me therefore, and shawab (turn back / repent) back the shabayah (captives), that you have shabah (taken) captive from your ach (brother/kinsman); for the charawan (fierce) ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) of Yahawah () is on you.”

12 Then some of the raashay (heads) of the banay (my son) of Aparayam (Ephraim), Izarayah (Azariah) the ban (son) of Yahawachanan (Johanan), Barakayah (Berechiah) the ban (son) of Mashalamawath (Meshillemoth), and Yachazaqayah (Jehizkiah) the ban (son) of Shalawam (peace / safety), and Imashaa (Amasa) the ban (son) of Chadalay (Hadlai), qawam (rise up) up bawaa (bring) those who came from the tzabaa (troop),

13 And amar (spoke) to them, “You shall not bawaa (come) in the shabayah (captives) here: for you purpose that which will bring on us a ashamah (trespass) against Yahawah (), to yasap (add) to our chataah (sin) and to our ashamah (trespass); for our ashamah (trespass) is rab (great), and there is fierce ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) against Yashar-Al (Israel).”

14 So the chalatz (armed) men izab (left) the shabayah (captives) and the bazah (spoil) panayam (face) the sharayam (princes) and all the qahal (assembly).

15 The anashayam (men) who have been mentioned by sham (name) qawam (rise up) up, and chazaq (took) the shabayah (captives), and with the shalal (spoil) labash (clothed) all who were mairam (naked) among them, dressed them, gave them sandals, and gave them something to akal (eat) and to shaqah (drink), sawak (anointed) them, nahal (carried) all the kashal (stumble / stagger) of them on donkeys, and bawaa (bring) them to Yarayachaw (Jericho), the iyar (city) of thamar (palm) trees, to their ach (brother/kinsman). Then they shawab (turn) to Shamarawan (Samaria).

16 At that ith (time) malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) shalach (send) to the malakay (kings) of Ashawar (Assyria) to izar (help) him.

17 For again the Adawamay (Edomites) bawaa (bring) come and nakah (struck) Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and shabah (carried) away shabay (captives).

18 The Palashathay (Philistines) also had pashat (invaded) the iray (cities) of the lowland, and of the nagab (south) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah), and had lakad (taken) Bayath-Shamash (Beth Shemesh), and Ayalawan (Aijalon), and Gadarawath (Gederoth), and Shawakah (Soco) with its banath (daughter), and Thamanah (Timnah) with its banath (daughter), Gamazaw (Gimzo) also and its banath (daughter): and they lived there.

19 For Yahawah () kanai (brought) Yahawadah (Judah) low because of Achaz (Ahaz) malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel); for he had dealt wantonly in Yahawadah (Judah), and mail (top/above) severely against Yahawah ().

20 Thagalathapalaasar (Tilgath Pilneser) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria) bawaa (bring) to him, and tzawar (distressed) him, but didn't chazaq (strengthen) him.

21 For Achaz (Ahaz) chalaq (took) away a portion out of the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and out of the bayath (house) of the malak (king) and of the sharayam (princes), and nathan (give) it to the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria): but it didn't izarah (help) him.

22 In the ith (time) of his tzarar (distress), he mail (top/above) yet more against Yahawah (), this same malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz).

23 For he zabach (sacrificed) to the Alahayam () of Damashaq (Damascus), which nakah (struck) him; and he amar (spoke), “Because the Alahayam () of the malakay (kings) of Aram (Syria) izar (helped) them, so I will zabach (sacrifice) to them, that they may izar (help) me.” But they were the kashal (stumble / stagger) of him, and of all Yashar-Al (Israel).

24 Achaz (Ahaz) asap (gathered) together the kalay (vessels) of the bayath (house) of Alahayam (), and qatzatz (cut) in pieces the kalay (vessels) of the bayath (house) of Alahayam (), and sagar (shut) up the dalathawath (doors) of the bayath (house) of Yahawah (); and he ishah (make) him mazabachawath (altars) in every panah (corner / cornerstone) of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem).

25 In every iyar (city) of Yahawadah (Judah) he ishah (make) bamah (high) places to qatar (burn) incense to other Alahayam (), and provoked to kais (anger) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of his ab (father).

26 Now the yathar (rest) of his dabar (word / matter), and all his darak (ways), raashawan (first) and acharawan (last), behold, they are kathab (write) in the sapar (book / scribed document) of the malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) and Yashar-Al (Israel).

27 Achaz (Ahaz) shakab (slept) with his ab (father), and they qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) him in the iyar (city), even in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem); for they didn't bawaa (bring) him into the tombs of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel): and Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.
