For there were many in the qahal (assembly) who had not qadash (set apart / make holy) themselves: therefore the Lawayay (Levites) were in charge of shachayatah (killing) the pasachayam (passovers) for everyone who was not tahawar (clean), to qadash (set apart / make holy) them to Yahawah ().
