2 Kings 16 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 In the seventeenth shanah (year) of Paqach (Pekah) the ban (son) of Ramalayahaw (Remaliah) Achaz (Ahaz) the ban (son) of Yawatham (Jotham) malak (king) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah) began to malak (king).

2 Isharayam (twenty) shanah (years) ban (son) was Achaz (Ahaz) when he began to malak (king); and he malak (king) sixteen shanah (years) in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem): and he didn't do that which was yashar (upright) in the iyanay (eyes) of Yahawah () his Alahayam (), like Dawad (David) his ab (father).

3 But he yalak (walked) in the darak (way) of the malakay (kings) of Yashar-Al (Israel), yes, and made his ban (son) to ibar (pass over/through) through the ash (fire), according to the thaibawath (abominations) of the gawayam (nations), whom Yahawah () yarash (cast) out from panayam (face) the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

4 He zabach (sacrificed) and burnt qatar (incense) in the bamah (high) places, and on the gabaiwath (hills), and under every rainan (green) itz (tree).

5 Then Ratzayan (Rezin) malak (king) of Aram (Syria) and Paqach (Pekah) ban (son) of Ramalayahaw (Remaliah) malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) ilah (go up / offer) up to Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) to malachamah (war): and they tzawar (besieged) Achaz (Ahaz), but yakal (could) not lacham (overcome) him.

6 At that ith (time) Ratzayan (Rezin) malak (king) of Aram (Syria) shawab (turn) Ayalawath (Elath) to Aram (Syria), and nashal (drove) the Yahawaday (Jews) from Ayalawath (Elath); and the Arawamay (Syrians) bawaa (bring) to Ayalawath (Elath), and lived there, to this yawam (day).

7 So Achaz (Ahaz) shalach (send) malaakayam (messengers) to Thagalathapalaasar (Tiglath Pileser) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria), amar (said), “I am your ibad (servant) and your ban (son). Ilah (go up / offer) up, and yashai (salvation) me out of the kap (hand) of the malak (king) of Aram (Syria), and out of the kap (hand) of the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel), who qawam (rise up) up against me.”

8 Achaz (Ahaz) laqach (take / seize) the kasap (silver) and zahab (gold) that was matzaa (found) in the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and in the atzarawath (treasures) of the malak (king) bayath (house), and shalach (send) it for a shachad (present) to the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria).

9 The malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria) shamai (hearken / hear) to him; and the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria) ilah (go up / offer) up against Damashaq (Damascus), and thapash (took) it, and galah (carried) its people captive to Qayar (Kir), and mawath (death) Ratzayan (Rezin).

10 Malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) yalak (went) to Damashaq (Damascus) to qaraah (meet) Thagalathapalaasar (Tiglath Pileser) malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria), and raah (see / saw) the mazabach (altar) that was at Damashaq (Damascus); and malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) shalach (send) to Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the kahan (priest) the damawath (fashion) of the mazabach (altar), and its thabanayath (pattern), according to all its workmanship.

11 Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the kahan (priest) banah (build) an mazabach (altar): according to all that malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) had shalach (send) from Damashaq (Damascus), so Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the kahan (priest) ishah (make) it for the bawaa (bring) of malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) from Damashaq (Damascus).

12 When the malak (king) bawaa (bring) come from Damashaq (Damascus), the malak (king) raah (see / saw) the mazabach (altar): and the malak (king) qarab (come close) near to the mazabach (altar), and ilah (go up / offer) on it.

13 He burnt his burnt ilah (offering) and his meal manachah (offering), and nasak (poured) his drink nasak (offering), and zaraq (sprinkled) the dam (blood) of his shalam (peace) offerings, on the mazabach (altar).

14 The bronze mazabach (altar), which panayam (face) before Yahawah (), he qarab (come close) from the panayam (face) of the bayath (house), from between his mazabach (altar) and the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), and nathan (give) it on the tzapawan (north) yarak (side) of his mazabach (altar).

15 Malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) tzawah (commanded) Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the kahan (priest), amar (said), “On the gadawal (very great/important/mighty) mazabach (altar) qatar (burn) the baqar (morning) burnt ilah (offering), and the irab (evening) meal manachah (offering), and the malak (king) burnt ilah (offering), and his meal manachah (offering), with the burnt ilah (offering) of all the im (nation / people) of the aratz (Earth/land), and their meal manachah (offering), and their drink nasak (offerings); and zaraq (sprinkle) on it all the dam (blood) of the burnt ilah (offering), and all the dam (blood) of the zabach (sacrifice); but the bronze mazabach (altar) shall be for me to baqar (morning) by.”

16 Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the kahan (priest) ishah (make) so, according to all that malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) tzawah (commanded).

17 Malak (king) Achaz (Ahaz) qatzatz (cut) off the panels of the makanawath (bases), and sawar (removed) the basin from off them, and yarad (took) down the yam (sea/waters) from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and nathan (give) it on a maratzapath (pavement) of aban (stone).

18 The covered way for the shabath (shabath / rest) that they had banah (build) in the bayath (house), and the malak (king) mabawaa (entry) outside, sabab (turned) he to the bayath (house) of Yahawah (), panayam (face) of the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria).

19 Now the yathar (rest) of the dabaray (acts) of Achaz (Ahaz) which he ishah (make), aren't they kathab (write) in the sapar (book / scribed document) of the dabaray (chronicles) of the malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Yahawadah / Judah)?

20 Achaz (Ahaz) shakab (slept) with his ab (father), and was qabar (grave / tomb / sepulcher) with his ab (father) in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David): and Chazaqayah (Hezekiah) his ban (son) malak (king) in his place.
