1 It happened, at the thashawabah (return) of the shanah (year), at the ith (time) when malaakayam (kings) yatzaa (go out / come out) out, that Dawad (David) shalach (send) Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab), and his ibad (servant) with him, and all Yashar-Al (Israel); and they shachath (destroyed) the banay (my son) of Imawan (Ammon), and tzawar (besieged) Rabah (Rabbah). But Dawad (David) stayed at Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem).
2 It happened at irab (evening), that Dawad (David) qawam (rise up) from off his mashakab (bed), and halak (move) on the gag (roof) of the malak (king) bayath (house): and from the gag (roof) he raah (see / saw) a ayashah (woman / wife) rachatz (bathing); and the ayashah (woman / wife) was very tawab (good / proper function) to maraah (look) on.
3 Dawad (David) shalach (send) and darash (inquired) after the ayashah (woman / wife). One amar (said), “Isn't this Bathashabai (Bathsheba), the banath (daughter) of Alayaim (Eliam), the ayashah (woman / wife) of Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the Chathay (Hittite)?”
4 Dawad (David) shalach (send) malaakayam (messengers), and laqach (take / seize) her; and she bawaa (bring) in to him, and he shakab (lay) with her (for she was qadash (set apart / make holy) from her tamaah (uncleanness)); and she shawab (turn) to her bayath (house).
5 The ayashah (woman / wife) harah (conceived); and she shalach (send) and nagad (told) Dawad (David), and amar (said), “I am with harah (child).”
6 Dawad (David) shalach (send) to Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab), “shalach (send) me Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the Chathay (Hittite).” Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab) shalach (send) Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) to Dawad (David).
7 When Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) bawaa (bring) come to him, Dawad (David) shaal (asked) of him how Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab) shalawam (peace / safety), and how the im (nation / people) shalawam (peace / safety), and how the malachamah (war) shalawam (peace / safety).
8 Dawad (David) amar (said) to Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite), “yarad (go) down to your bayath (house), and rachatz (wash) your ragal (feet / foot).” Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) departed out of the malak (king) bayath (house), and a mashaath (gift) from the malak (king) was sent achar (other) him.
9 But Awarayah (Uriah) shakab (slept) at the pathach (door) of the malak (king) bayath (house) with all the ibaday (servants) of his Adawan (), and didn't yarad (go) down to his bayath (house).
10 When they had nagad (told) Dawad (David), amar (said), “Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) didn't yarad (go) down to his bayath (house),” Dawad (David) amar (said) to Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite), “Haven't you bawaa (bring) from a darak (journey)? Why didn't you yarad (go) down to your bayath (house)?”
11 Awarayah (Uriah) amar (spoke) to Dawad (David), “The arawan (ark), Yashar-Al (Israel), and Yahawadah (Judah), are staying in sakawath (tents); and my Adawan () Yawaab (Joab), and the ibaday (servants) of my Adawan (), are chanah (encamped) in the panayam (face) shadah (field). Shall I then bawaa (come) into my bayath (house) to akal (eat) and to shathah (drinks), and to shakab (lie) with my ayashah (woman / wife)? As you chay (life), and as your napash (soul) chay (life), I will not ishah (make) this thing!”
12 Dawad (David) amar (said) to Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite), “Stay here today also, and machar (tomorrow) I will shalach (send) you depart.” So Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) stayed in Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) that yawam (day), and the next yawam (day).
13 When Dawad (David) had qaraa (called) him, he akal (eat) and shathah (drinks) panayam (face) him; and he shakar (made) him drunk. At irab (evening), he yatzaa (go out / come out) out to shakab (lie) on his mashakab (bed) with the ibaday (servants) of his Adawan (), but didn't yarad (go) down to his bayath (house).
14 It happened in the baqar (morning), that Dawad (David) kathab (write) a sapar (book / scribed document) to Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab), and shalach (send) it by the yad (hand) of Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite).
15 He kathab (write) in the sapar (book / scribed document), amar (said), “Send Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) to the panayam (face) of the chazaq (hottest) malachamah (battle), and retreat from him, that he may be nakah (struck), and mawath (death).”
16 It happened, when Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab) shamar (keep/guard) watch on the iyar (city), that he nathan (give) Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) to the maqawam (place) where he yadai (knew) that chayal (wealth / substance / capability / valor) yadai (men) were.
17 The anashay (men) of the iyar (city) yatzaa (go out / come out) out, and lacham (fought) with Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab). Some of the im (nation / people) napal (fall / be cast down), even of the ibaday (servant of) of Dawad (David); and Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the Chathay (Hittite) mawath (death) also.
18 Then Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab) shalach (send) and nagad (told) Dawad (David) all the things concerning the malachamah (war);
19 And he tzawah (commanded) the malaak (angel / messenger of Yah), amar (said), “When you kalah (complete / finish) finished dabar (word / matter) all the things concerning the malachamah (war) to the malak (king),
20 It shall be that, if the malak (king) chamah (wrath) arise, and he asks you, ‘Why did you nagash (go) so near to the iyar (city) to lacham (fight)? Didn't you yadai (know) that they would yarah (shoot) from the chawamah (wall)?
21 Who nakah (struck) Abayamalak (Abimelech) the ban (son) of Yarabashath (Jerubbesheth)? Didn't a ayashah (woman / wife) shalak (cast) an upper rakab (millstone) on him from the chawamah (wall), so that he mawath (death) at Thabatz (Thebez)? Why did you nagash (go) so near the chawamah (wall)?’ Then you shall amar (said), ‘Your ibad (servant) Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the Chathay (Hittite) is mawath (death) also.’”
22 So the malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) yalak (went), and bawaa (bring) and showed Dawad (David) all that Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab) had shalach (send) him for.
23 The malaak (angel / messenger of Yah) amar (said) to Dawad (David), “The anashayam (men) gabar (prevailed) against us, and yatzaa (go out / come out) out to us into the shadah (field), and we were on them even to the pathach (entrance) of the shair (gate).
24 The shooters yarah (shot) at your ibaday (servant of) from off the chawamah (wall); and some of the malak (king) ibaday (servant of) are mawath (death), and your ibad (servant) Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) the Chathay (Hittite) is mawath (death) also.”
25 Then Dawad (David) amar (said) to the malaak (angel / messenger of Yah), “Thus you shall amar (said) Yawaab (Yawaab / Joab), ‘Don't let this thing displease you, for the charab (sword) akal (eat) one as zah (this / that / these) as another. Make your malachamah (battle) chazaq (stronger) against the iyar (city), and haras (overthrow) it.’ Chazaq (encourage) him.”
26 When the ayashah (woman / wife) of Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) shamai (hearken / hear) that Awarayah (Uriah the Hittite) her ayash (man / husband) was mawath (death), she made lamentation for her bail (husband).
27 When the abal (mourning) was past, Dawad (David) shalach (send) and asap (took) her home to his bayath (house), and she became his ayashah (woman / wife), and yalad (birth / begot) him a ban (son). But the thing that Dawad (David) ishah (make) done displeased Yahawah ().
