2 Samuel 6 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Dawad (David) again asap (gathered) together all the bachar (chosen) men of Yashar-Al (Israel), shalawashayam (thirty) alap (thousand).

2 Dawad (David) qawam (rise up), and yalak (went) with all the im (nation / people) who were with him, from Bailayayahawadah (Baale Judah), to ilah (go up / offer) up from there the arawan (ark) of Alahayam (), which is qaraa (called) by the sham (name), even the sham (name) of Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies) who yashab (inhabit/dwell) above the karawab (cherubim).

3 They rakab (set) the arawan (ark) of Alahayam () on a chadash (new) igalah (cart), and nashaa (lift) it out of the bayath (house) of Abayanadab (Abinadab) that was in the Gabaih (hill): and Izaa (Uzzah) and Achayaw (Ahio), the banay (sons) of Abayanadab (Abinadab), nahag (drove) the chadash (new) igalah (cart).

4 They nashaa (lift) it out of the bayath (house) of Abayanadab (Abinadab), which was in the Gabaih (hill), with the arawan (ark) of Alahayam (): and Achayaw (Ahio) halak (move) panayam (face) the arawan (ark).

5 Dawad (David) and all the bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel) shachaq (played) panayam (face) Yahawah () with all kinds of instruments made of barawash (fir) itz (wood), and with kanarawath (harps), and with stringed instruments, and with tambourines, and with castanets, and with tzalatzalayam (cymbals).

6 When they bawaa (come) to the garan (threshing) floor of Nakawan (Nacon), Izaa (Uzzah) shalach (send) for the arawan (ark) of Alahayam (), and achaz (took) hold of it; for the cattle shamat (stumbled).

7 The ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) of Yahawah () was charah (hot with anger) against Izaa (Uzzah); and Alahayam () nakah (struck) him there for his shal (error); and there he mawath (death) by the arawan (ark) of Alahayam ().

8 Dawad (David) was charah (hot with anger), because Yahawah () had broken paratz (forth) on Izaa (Uzzah); and he qaraa (called) that maqawam (place) Paratz (Perez) Izaa (Uzzah), to this yawam (day).

9 Dawad (David) was yaraa (fear / be afraid) of Yahawah () that yawam (day); and he amar (spoke), “How shall the arawan (ark) of Yahawah () bawaa (come) to me?”

10 So Dawad (David) would not move the arawan (ark) of Yahawah () to be with him in the iyar (city) of Dawad (David); but Dawad (David) natah (carried) it aside into the bayath (house) of Ibadaadawam (Obed-Edom) the Gathay (Gittite).

11 The arawan (ark) of Yahawah () yashab (inhabit/dwell) in the bayath (house) of Ibadaadawam (Obed-Edom) the Gathay (Gittite) shalawash (three) chadashayam (months): and Yahawah () barak (blessed) Ibadaadawam (Obed-Edom), and all his bayath (house).

12 It was nagad (told) malak (king) Dawad (David), amar (spoke), “Yahawah () has barak (blessed) the bayath (house) of Ibadaadawam (Obed-Edom), and all that pertains to him, because of the arawan (ark).” of Alahayam (). Dawad (David) yalak (went) and ilah (go up / offer) up the arawan (ark) of Alahayam () from the bayath (house) of Ibadaadawam (Obed-Edom) into the iyar (city) of Dawad (David) with shamachah (joy).

13 It was so, that, when those who nashaa (lift) the arawan (ark) of Yahawah () had tzaid (gone) shash (six) tzaidayam (paces), he zabach (sacrificed) an shawar (ox) and a fattened calf.

14 Dawad (David) karar (danced) panayam (face) Yahawah () with all his iz (strength / might / refuge); and Dawad (David) was clothed in a bad (linen) apawad (ephod).

15 So Dawad (David) and all the bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel) ilah (go up / offer) up the arawan (ark) of Yahawah () with tharawaih (shouting), and with the qawal (sound / voice) of the shawapar (Shofar / Ram's horn).

16 It was so, as the arawan (ark) of Yahawah () bawaa (come) into the iyar (city) of Dawad (David), that Mayakal (Michal) the banath (daughter) of Shaawal (Saul) shaqap (looked) out at the chalawan (window), and raah (see) malak (king) Dawad (David) pazaz (leaping) and karar (dancing) panayam (face) Yahawah (); and she bazah (despised) him in her lab (heart).

17 They bawaa (come) in the arawan (ark) of Yahawah (), and yatzag (set) it in its maqawam (place), in the thawak (midst) of the ahal (tent) that Dawad (David) had natah (pitched) for it; and Dawad (David) ilah (go up / offer) burnt ilawath (offerings) and peace ilawath (offerings) panayam (face) Yahawah ().

18 When Dawad (David) kalah (complete / finish) made an end of ilah (go up / offer) the burnt ilah (offering) and the shalam (peace) offerings, he barak (blessed) the im (nation / people) in the sham (name) of Yahawah () of tzabaawath (armies).

19 He chalaq (gave) to all the im (nation / people), even among the whole multitude of Yashar-Al (Israel), both to ayash (man / husband) and ayashah (woman / wife), to everyone a portion of lacham (bread), dates, and raisins. So all the im (nation / people) departed everyone to his bayath (house).

20 Then Dawad (David) shawab (turn) to barak (blessed) his bayath (house). Mayakal (Michal) the banath (daughter) of Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) yatzaa (go out / come out) out to qaraah (meet) Dawad (David), and amar (said), “How kabad (glorious) the malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel) was today, who galah (uncovered) himself today in the iyanay (eyes) of the handmaids of his ibad (servant)’, as achad (one) of the rayaq (vain) fellows galah (shamelessly) galah (uncovers) himself!”

21 Dawad (David) amar (spoke) to Mayakal (Michal), “It panayam (face) before Yahawah (), who bachar (chose) me above your ab (father), and above all his bayath (house), to tzawah (appoint) me nagayad (prince) over the im (nation / people) of Yahawah (), over Yashar-Al (Israel). Therefore will I celebrate panayam (face) Yahawah ().

22 I will be yet more qalal (vile) than zaath (this), and will be shapal (base) in my own iyan (eye). But of the handmaids of whom you have amar (said), they shall honor me.”

23 Mayakal (Michal) the banath (daughter) of Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife) had no yalad (birth / begot) to the yawam (day) of her mawath (death).
