1 Darayawash (Darius) the Mede qabal (received) the malakaw (kingdom), being about shathayan (sixty) - tharayan (two) shanah (years) bar (old).
2 It pleased Darayawash (Darius) to set over the malakaw (kingdom) one hundred twenty satraps, who should be throughout the whole malakaw (kingdom);
3 And over them three presidents, of whom Danayaal (Daniel) was one; that these satraps might hawaa (which/who/that is) account to them, and that the king should hawaa (which/who/that is) no damage.
4 Then this Danayaal (Daniel) was distinguished above the sarakayan (presidents) and the satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the malak (king) thought to hawaa (which/who/that is) him over the whole realm.
5 Then the sarakay (presidents) and the satraps hawaa (which/who/that is) to find occasion against Danayaal (Daniel) as touching the malakaw (kingdom); but they could find no occasion nor fault, qabal (because) he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
6 Then these men said, “We shall not shakach (find) any ilah (occasion) il (over) qabal (this) Danayaal (Daniel), except we shakach (find) it against him concerning the law of his Alahayam ().”
7 Then these presidents and satraps assembled together to the king, and amar (spoke) dan (thus) to him, “King Darayawash (Darius), live forever.
8 All the sarakay (presidents) of the kingdom, the deputies and the satraps, the counselors and the governors, have consulted together to establish a malak (king) statute, and to make a strong decree, that whoever shall ask a petition of any Alahayam () or man for thirty days, except of you, O malak (king), he shall be cast into the den of lions.
9 Day (now), O malak (king), qawam (rise up) the asar (decree), and sign the writing, that it not be changed, according to the law of the Maday (Medes) and Paras (Persians), which doesn't alter.”
10 Day (therefore) malak (king) Darayawash (Darius) rasham (signed) the kathab (write) and the asar (decree).
11 When Danayaal (Daniel) knew that the kathab (write) was rasham (signed), he went into his house (now his windows were open in his room toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled on his knees three dan (times) a day, and prayed, and gave thanks qabal (before) his Alahayam (), as he did before.
12 Then these men assembled together, and found Danayaal (Daniel) yadai (making) petition and supplication qadam (before) his Alahayam ().
13 Then they came near, and spoke qadam (before) the king concerning the king's decree: “Haven't you signed an decree, that every gabar (man) who shall baia (make) petition to any Alahayam () or gabar (man) within thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?” The king answered, “The thing is true, according to the law of the Maday (Medes) and Paras (Persians), which doesn't alter.”
14 Then inah (oppress / afflict) they and amar (spoke) qadam (before) the malak (king), “That Paras (Daniel), who is of the children of the captivity of Yahawadah (Judah), doesn't respect you, O malak (king), nor the asar (decree) that you have rasham (signed), but baia (makes) his petition three adayan (times) a yawam (day).”
15 Then the malak (king), when he heard these words, was very displeased, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) his heart on Danayaal (Daniel) to deliver him; and he labored day (until) the going down of the sun to rescue him.
16 Then these men assembled together to the malak (king), and said to the malak (king), “Know, O malak (king), that it is a law of the Maday (Medes) and Paras (Persians), that no decree nor statute which the malak (king) establishes may be changed.”
17 Then the malak (king) commanded, and they brought Paras (Daniel), and cast him into the den of lions. Now the malak (king) amar (spoke) and amar (spoke) to Paras (Daniel), “Your Alahayam () whom you serve continually, he will deliver you.”
18 A stone was athah (you (masc)), and laid on the mouth of the gab (den); and the malak (king) sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Danayaal (Daniel).
19 Then the malak (king) went to his palace, and passed the night fasting; laa (NOT) were instruments of music athah (you (masc)) before him: and his sleep fled from him.
20 Then the malak (king) arose very early in the morning, and azal (went) in haste to the den of lions.
21 When he came near to the gab (den) to Danayaal (Daniel), he cried with a lamentable voice; the malak (king) spoke and said to Danayaal (Daniel), “Danayaal (Daniel), servant of the living Alahayam (), is your Alahayam (), whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the arayawath (lions)?”
22 Then Danayaal (Daniel) amar (said) to the malak (king), “O malak (king), live forever.
23 My Alahayam () has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me; because as before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O malak (king), have I done no hurt.”
24 Then was the malak (king) exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Danayaal (Daniel) up out of the den. So Danayaal (Daniel) was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was shakach (found) on him, because he had trusted in his Alahayam ().
25 The malak (king) commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Danayaal (Daniel), and they cast them into the gab (den) of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions mauled them, and broke kal (every) their bones in pieces, before they came to the bottom of the gab (den).
26 Then malak (king) Darayawash (Darius) wrote to kal (every) the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in kal (every) the earth: “Peace be multiplied to you.
27 “I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the Alahayam () of Danayaal (Daniel); “for he is the living Alahayam (), and steadfast forever, His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be even to the end.
28 He delivers and rescues, and he works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who has delivered Danayaal (Daniel) from the power of the lions.”
