Exodus 30 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 “You shall ishah (make) an mazabach (altar) to maqatar (burn) qatarath (incense) on. You shall ishah (make) it of acacia itz (wood).

2 Its arak (length) shall be a amah (cubit), and its rachab (breadth) a amah (cubit). It shall be rabai (fourth), and its qawamah (height) shall be two amathayam (cubits). Its qaran (horn) shall be of one piece with it.

3 You shall tzapah (overlay) it with tahawar (pure) zahab (gold), its gag (top), its qayar (sides) around it, and its qaran (horn); and you shall ishah (make) a zahab (gold) molding around it.

4 You shall ishah (make) shanayam (two) zahab (gold) tabaith (rings) for it under its molding; on its shanayam (two) ribs, on its shanayam (two) tzad (sides) you shall ishah (make) them; and they shall be for bathayam (places) for poles with which to nashaa (lift) it.

5 You shall ishah (make) the poles of acacia itz (wood), and tzapah (overlay) them with zahab (gold).

6 You shall nathan (give) it panayam (face) the parakath (veil) that is by the arawan (ark) of the idawath (testimony), panayam (face) the kaparath (mercy) seat that is over the idawath (testimony), where I will yaid (meet) with you.

7 Aharawan (Aaron) shall qatar (burn) qatarath (incense) of sam (sweet) spices on it every baqar (morning). When he tends the narath (lamps), he shall qatar (burn) it.

8 When Aharawan (Aaron) ilah (go up / offer) the narath (lamps) at irab (evening), he shall qatar (burn) it, a thamayad (perpetual) qatar (incense) panayam (face) Yahawah () throughout your dawar (generation / age / period).

9 You shall ilah (go up / offer) no zawar (strange) qatarath (incense) on it, nor burnt ilah (offering), nor meal manachah (offering); and you shall nasak (pour) no drink nasak (offering) on it.

10 Aharawan (Aaron) shall make kapar (atonement) on its qaran (horn) achad (one) in the shanah (year); with the dam (blood) of the chataah (sin) offering of kapar (atonement) achad (one) in the shanah (year) he shall make kapar (atonement) for it throughout your dawar (generation / age / period). It is most qadash (set apart / make holy) to Yahawah ().”

11 Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses), amar (spoke),

12 “When you nashaa (lift) a census of the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), according to those who are paqad (visit) among them, then each ayash (man / husband) shall nathan (give) a kapar (ransom) for his napash (soul) to Yahawah (), when you paqad (visit) them; that there be no nagap (plague) among them when you paqad (visit) them.

13 They shall nathan (give) this, everyone who passes over to those who are paqad (visit), machatzayath (half) a shaqal (shekel) after the shaqal (shekel) of the qadash (set apart / make holy); (the shaqal (shekel) is isharayam (twenty) garah (gerahs);) machatzayath (half) a shaqal (shekel) for an tharawamah (offering) to Yahawah ().

14 Everyone who passes over to those who are paqad (visit), from isharayam (twenty) shanah (years) ban (son) and upward, shall nathan (give) the tharawamah (offering) to Yahawah ().

15 The ishayar (rich) shall not rabah (give) more, and the dal (poor) shall not mait (give) less, than the machatzayath (half) shaqal (shekel), when they nathan (give) the tharawamah (offering) of Yahawah (), to make kapar (atonement) for your napash (soul).

16 You shall laqach (take / seize) the kapar (atonement) kasap (money) from the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and shall nathan (give) it for the ibadah (service) of the ahal (tent) of Meeting; that it may be a zakarawan (memorial) for the banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) panayam (face) Yahawah (), to make kapar (atonement) for your napash (soul).”

17 Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses), amar (spoke),

18 “You shall also ishah (make) a basin of nachashath (brass), and its kan (for sure) of nachashath (brass), in which to rachatz (wash). You shall nathan (give) it between the ahal (tent) of Meeting and the mazabach (altar), and you shall nathan (give) mayam (Waters) in it.

19 Aharawan (Aaron) and his ban (son) shall rachatz (wash) their yad (hand) and their ragal (feet / foot) in it.

20 When they bawaa (come) into the ahal (tent) of Meeting, they shall rachatz (wash) with mayam (Waters), that they not mawath (death); or when they nagash (come) near to the mazabach (altar) to sharath (minister), to qatar (burn) an offering made by ashah (fire / offering made by fire) to Yahawah ().

21 So they shall rachatz (wash) their yad (hand) and their ragal (feet / foot), that they not mawath (death): and it shall be a chaq (statute) iwalam (eternity) to them, even to him and to his descendants throughout their dawar (generation / age / period).”

22 Moreover Yahawah () dabar (word / matter) to Mashah (Moses), amar (spoke),

23 “Also laqach (take / seize) fine bashamayam (spices): of liquid mar (myrrh), chamash (five) maah (hundred) shekels; and of fragrant qanamawan (cinnamon) machatzayath (half) as much, even two maah (hundred) and chamashayam (fifty); and of fragrant qanah (cane), two maah (hundred) and chamashayam (fifty);

24 And of qadah (cassia) chamash (five) maah (hundred), after the shaqal (shekel) of the qadash (set apart / make holy); and a hayan (hin) of zayath (olive) shaman (oil).

25 You shall ishah (make) it a qadash (set apart / make holy) mashachah (anointing) shaman (oil), a perfume maraqachath (compounded) after the maishah (art) of the perfumer: it shall be a qadash (set apart / make holy) mashachah (anointing) shaman (oil).

26 You shall use it to mashach (anoint) the ahal (tent) of Meeting, the arawan (ark) of the idawath (testimony),

27 The shalachan (table) and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the mazabach (altar) of qatarath (incense),

28 The mazabach (altar) of burnt ilah (offering) with all its utensils, and the basin with its kan (for sure).

29 You shall qadash (set apart / make holy) them, that they may be most qadash (set apart / make holy). Whatever touches them shall be qadash (set apart / make holy).

30 You shall mashach (anoint) Aharawan (Aaron) and his ban (son), and qadash (set apart / make holy) them, that they may kahan (priest) to me in the priest's office.

31 You shall dabar (word / matter) to the banay (my son) of Yashar-Al (Israel), amar (said), ‘This shall be a qadash (set apart / make holy) mashachah (anointing) shaman (oil) to me throughout your dawar (generation / age / period).

32 It shall not be yasak (poured) on adam (man's) bashar (flesh), neither shall you ishah (make) any like it, according to its mathakanath (composition): it is qadash (set apart / make holy). It shall be qadash (set apart / make holy) to you.

33 Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever nathan (give) any of it on a stranger, he shall be karath (cut) off from his im (nation / people).’”

34 Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), “laqach (take / seize) to yourself sam (sweet) spices, gum resin, and shachalath (onycha), and chalabanah (galbanum); sam (sweet) spices with zak (pure) labawanah (frankincense): there shall be an equal weight of bad (each);

35 And you shall ishah (make) qatarath (incense) of it, a qatarath (perfume) after the maishah (art) of the perfumer, malach (seasoned) with salt, tahawar (pure) and qadash (set apart / make holy):

36 And you shall shachaq (beat) some of it very daqaq (small), and nathan (give) some of it panayam (face) the idawath (testimony) in the ahal (tent) of Meeting, where I will yaid (meet) with you. It shall be to you most qadash (set apart / make holy).

37 The qatarath (incense) which you shall ishah (make), according to its mathakanath (composition) you shall not ishah (make) for yourselves: it shall be to you qadash (set apart / make holy) for Yahawah ().

38 Whoever shall ishah (make) any like that, to rawach (spirit / wind) of it, he shall be karath (cut) off from his im (nation / people).”
