Exodus 8 — English–Hebrew Parallel

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), “amar (spoke) Aharawan (Aaron), ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the yaar (rivers), over the streams, and over the pools, and cause tzaparadaiyam (frogs) to come up on the land of Matzarayam (Egypt).’”

Aharawan (Aaron) stretched out his hand over the waters of Matzarayam (Egypt); and the frogs machar (came) up, and covered the land of Matzarayam (Egypt).

The magicians did the same thing with their enchantments, and sawar (brought) up tzaparadaiyam (frogs) on the land of Matzarayam (Egypt).

Then Paraih (Pharaoh) tzaiq (called) for Mashah (Moses) and Aharawan (Aaron), and dabar (word / matter), “Entreat Yahawah (), that he yatzaa (go out / come out) away the tzaparadaiyam (frogs) from me, and from my people; and I will let the people yatzaa (go out / come out), that they may sacrifice to Yahawah ().”

Mashah (Moses) dabar (word / matter) to Paraih (Pharaoh), “I give you the honor of setting the time that I should pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, that the tzaparadaiyam (frogs) be mawath (death) from you and your bathayam (houses), and remain in the river only.”

He said, “Tomorrow.” He said, “Be it according to your word, that you may know that there is none like Yahawah () our Alahayam ().

The frogs shall depart from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only.”

Mashah (Moses) and Aharawan (Aaron) natah (went) out from Paraih (Pharaoh), and Mashah (Moses) cried to Yahawah () al (toward) the frogs which he had brought on Paraih (Pharaoh).

Yahawah () ishah (make) according to the word of Mashah (Moses), and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the aratz (Earth/land).

They ishah (make) them together in heaps, and the land stank.

But when Paraih (Pharaoh) saw that there was a respite, he chazaq (hardened) his lab (heart), and didn't shamai (hearken / hear) to them, as Yahawah () had dabar (word / matter).

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Mashah (Moses), “amar (spoke) Aharawan (Aaron), ‘shalach (send) out your rod, and strike the dust of the earth, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Matzarayam (Egypt).’”

They did so; and Aharawan (Aaron) shalach (send) out his hand with his rod, and struck the dust of the adamah (earth), and there were lice on man, and on animal; all the dust of the adamah (earth) became lice throughout all the adamah (land) of Matzaray (Egypt).

The magicians tried with their enchantments to produce lice, but they couldn't. There were lice on yadai (man), and on animal.

Then the magicians said to Paraih (Pharaoh), “This is the finger;” of Alahayam (): and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he didn't listen to them; as Yahawah () had spoken.

Yahawah () said to Mashah (Moses), “Rise up early in the morning, and panayam (face) panayam (face) Paraih (Pharaoh); behold, he bawaa (come) out to the water; and tell him, ‘This is what Yahawah () says, “Let my panay (people) ishah (make), that they may ishah (make) me.

Else, if you will not let my zabachaw (people) yalak (go), behold, I will send swarms of flies on you, and on your servants, and on your zabachaw (people), and into your zabachaw (houses): and the zabachaw (houses) of the Matzarayam (Egyptians) shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the aratz (Earth/land) whereon they are.

I will kawan (set) apart in that day the land of Gashan (Goshen), in which my nazabach (people) dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end you may know that I am Yahawah () in the midst of the earth.

I will put a division between my zabachanaw (people) and your zabachanaw (people): by tomorrow shall this sign be.”’”

Yahawah () did so; and there yalak (came) grievous swarms of flies into the zabach (house) of Paraih (Pharaoh), and into his servants’ zabachatham (houses): and in all the land of Matzarayam (Egypt) the land was corrupted by reason of the swarms of flies.

Paraih (Pharaoh) amar (spoke) for Mashah (Moses) and for Aharawan (Aaron), and amar (spoke), “yatzaa (go out / come out), zabach (sacrifice) to your Alahayam () in the land!”

Mashah (Moses) said, “It isn't appropriate to do so; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Matzarayam (Egyptians) to Yahawah () our Alahayam (). Behold, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Matzarayam (Egyptians) before their eyes, and won't they stone us?

We will ishah (make) three days’ ishah (make) into the wilderness, and ishah (make) to Yahawah () our Alahayam (), as he shall command us.”

Paraih (Pharaoh) said, “I will shalach (send) you go, that you may sacrifice to Yahawah () your Alahayam () in the wilderness, only you shall not shalach (send) very far away. Pray for me.”

Mashah (Moses) amar (spoke), “Behold, I yatzaa (go out / come out) out from you, and I will ithar (pray) to Yahawah () that the irab (evening) of flies may sawar (depart) from Paraih (Pharaoh), from his ibad (servant), and from his im (nation / people), machar (tomorrow); only don't let Paraih (Pharaoh) hathal (deal) deceitfully any more in not letting the im (nation / people) shalach (send) to zabach (sacrifice) to Yahawah ().”

Mashah (Moses) yatzaa (go out / come out) out from Paraih (Pharaoh), and ithar (prayed) to Yahawah ().

Yahawah () ishah (make) according to the dabar (word / matter) of Mashah (Moses), and he sawar (removed) the irab (evening) of flies from Paraih (Pharaoh), from his ibad (servant), and from his im (nation / people). There shaar (remained) not achad (one).

Paraih (Pharaoh) kabad (hardened) his lab (heart) paim (this) time also, and he didn't let the im (nation / people) shalach (send).

Paraih (Pharaoh) amar (spoke) for Mashah (Moses) and for Aharawan (Aaron), and amar (spoke), "yatzaa (go out / come out), zabach (sacrifice) to your Alahayam () in the land!

Mashah (Moses) said, "It isn't appropriate to do so; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Matzarayam (Egyptians) to Yahawah () our Alahayam (). Behold, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Matzarayam (Egyptians) before their eyes, and won't they stone us?

We will ishah (make) three days' ishah (make) into the wilderness, and ishah (make) to Yahawah () our Alahayam (), as he shall command us.

Paraih (Pharaoh) said, "I will shalach (send) you go, that you may sacrifice to Yahawah () your Alahayam () in the wilderness, only you shall not shalach (send) very far away. Pray for me.
