Ezekiel 19 — English–Hebrew Parallel

“Moreover, nashaa (lift) up a qayanah (lamentation) for the nashayaay (princes) of Yashar-Al (Israel),

And amar (said), ‘What was your am (mother)? A labayaa (lioness): she couched among arayawath (lions), in the thawak (midst) of the young kaparayam (lions) she rabah (nourished) her cubs.

She ilah (go up / offer) up achad (one) of her cubs: he became a young kapayar (lion), and he lamad (teach / instruct) to tarap (catch) the tarap (prey); he akal (eat) adam (men).

The gawayam (heathen) also shamai (hearken / hear) of him; he was thapash (taken) in their shachath (pit); and they bawaa (bring) him with chachayam (hooks) to the aratz (Earth/land) of Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt).

“‘Now when she raah (see / saw) that she yachal (had) waited, and her thaqawah (hope) was abad (destroy / perish), then she laqach (take / seize) another of her cubs, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) him a young kapayar (lion).

He halak (move) up and down thawak (midst) the arayawath (lions); he became a young kapayar (lion), and he lamad (teach / instruct) to tarap (catch) the tarap (prey); he akal (eat) adam (men).

He yadai (knew) their palaces, and charab (laid) waste their iyar (cities); and the aratz (Earth/land) was yasham (desolate), and its fullness, because of the qawal (sound / voice) of his shaagah (roaring).

Then the gawayam (heathen) nathan (give) against him on sabayab (surrounding) side from the madayanawath (provinces); and they parash (spread) their rashath (net) over him; he was thapash (taken) in their shachath (pit).

They nathan (give) him in a cage with chachayam (hooks), and bawaa (bring) him to the malak (king) of Babal (Babylon); they bawaa (bring) him into strongholds, that his qawal (sound / voice) should no more be shamai (hearken / hear) on the haray (mountains) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

“‘Your am (mother) was like a gapan (vine), in your dam (blood), shathal (planted) by the mayam (Waters): it was parah (bear fruit / increase) and inap (full) of branches by reason of many mayam (Waters).

It had iz (strength / might / refuge) matawath (rods) for the scepters of those who mashal (rule/have dominion) rule, and their qawamah (stature) was gabah (exalted) among the ibath (thick) boughs, and they were raah (see / saw) in their gabah (height) with the rab (multitude) of their branches.

But it was nathash (plucked) up in fury, it was shalak (cast) down to the aratz (Earth/land), and the qadayam (east) rawach (spirit / wind) yabash (dry land) up its paray (fruit): its iz (strength / might / refuge) matah (staff / rod / tribe) were paraq (broken) off and yabash (dry land); the ash (fire) akal (eat) them.

Now it is shathal (planted) in the madabar (wilderness), in a tzayah (dry) and tzamaa (thirsty) aratz (Earth/land).

Ash (fire) is yatzaa (go out / come out) out of the matah (staff / rod / tribe) of its branches, it has akal (eat) its paray (fruit), so that there is in it no iz (strength / might / refuge) matah (staff / rod / tribe) to be a scepter to mashal (rule/have dominion).’ This is a qayanah (lamentation), and shall be for a qayanah (lamentation).”
