Ezra 6 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Then Darayawash (Darius) the malak (king) shawam (place / establish / appoint) a taim (decree), and baqar (morning) was made in the bayath (house) of the archives, tham (where) the ganazay (treasures) were nachath (laid) up in Babal (Babylon).

3 In the chad (first) shanah (year) of Kawarash (Cyrus) the malak (king), Kawarash (Cyrus) the malak (king) shawam (place / establish / appoint) a taim (decree): Concerning the bayath (house) of Alahayam () at Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), let the bayath (house) be banaa (built), the athar (place) where they dabach (offer) dabachayan (sacrifices), and let its ash (fire) be sabal (strongly) laid; its rawam (will lift up) shathayan (sixty) amayan (cubits), and its pathay (breadth) shathayan (sixty) amayan (cubits);

4 With thalath (three) courses of galal (great) aban (stone), and a course of chadath (new) ai (timber): and let the napaqaa (expenses) be yahab (given) out of the malak (king) bayath (house).

5 Also let the dahab (gold) and kasap (silver) maanay (vessels) of the bayath (house) of Alahayam (), which Nabawakadanatzar (Nebuchadnezzar) napaq (took) forth out of the hayakal (temple) which is at Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), and yabal (brought) to Babal (Babylon), be thawab (restored), and hawak (brought) again to the hayakal (temple) which is at Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), everyone to its athar (place); and you shall put them in the bayath (house) of Alahayam ().

6 Kain (now) therefore, Tattenai, pachah (governor) Ibar (beyond) the nahar (river), Shatharabawazanay (Shetharbozenai), and your kanath (companions) the aparasakay (apharsachites), who are Ibar (beyond) the nahar (river), you must stay rachayaq (far) from there.

7 Leave the ibayadah (work) of dak (this) bayath (house) of Alahayam () shabaq (alone); let the pachah (governor) of the Yahawadaay (Jews) and the shabay (elders) of the Yahawadaay (Jews) banaa (build) dak (this) bayath (house) of Alahayam () in its athar (place).

8 Moreover I shawam (place / establish / appoint) a taim (decree) maa (what) you shall ibad (servant) to these shabay (elders) of the Yahawadaay (Jews) for the banaa (building) of dak (this) bayath (house) of Alahayam (): that of the malak (king) nakasay (goods), even of the madah (tribute) Ibar (beyond) the nahar (river), napaqaa (expenses) be yahab (given) with all diligence to these gabaray (men), that they be not batal (hindered).

9 That which they chashach (have) need of, both ban (son) bulls, and dakarayan (rams), and amarayan (lambs), for burnt ilawan (offerings) to the Alahayam () of shamayan (heaven); also chanataa (wheat), malach (salt), chamar (wine), and mashach (oil), according to the word of the kahanay (priests) who are at Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), let it be yahab (given) them yawam (day) by yawam (day) laa (NOT) shalaw (fail);

10 That they may offer nayachawachayan (sacrifices) of pleasant aroma to the Alahayam () of shamayan (heaven), and tzalaa (pray) for the chay (life) of the malak (king), and of his ban (son).

11 Also I have shawam (place / establish / appoint) a taim (decree), that whoever shall shanaa (hate) dan (this) pathagam (word), let a beam be nasach (pulled) out from his bayath (house), and let him be lifted up and fastened thereon; and let his bayath (house) be ibad (servant) a nawalaw (dunghill) for dan (this):

12 And the Alahayam () who has caused his sham (name) to shakan (place) there overthrow kal (every) malak (king) and im (nation / people) who shall shalach (put) forth their yad (hand) to shanaa (hate) the same, to chabal (destroy) dak (this) bayath (house) of Alahayam () which is at Yarawashalam (Jerusalem). I Darayawash (Darius) have shawam (place / establish / appoint) a taim (decree); let it be ibad (servant) with all diligence.

13 Then Tattenai, the pachah (governor) Ibar (beyond) the nahar (river), Shatharabawazanay (Shetharbozenai), and their kanath (companions), because Darayawash (Darius) the malak (king) had shalach (sent) a decree, ibad (servant) accordingly with all diligence.

14 The shabay (elders) of the Yahawadaay (Jews) banaa (built) and tzalach (prospered), through the nabawaah (prophesying) of Chagay (Haggai) the nabayaa (prophet/prophecy) and Zakarayah (Zechariah) the bar (son) of Idaw (Iddo). They banaa (built) and kalal (finished) it, man (from) to the commandment of the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), and according to the taim (decree) of Kawarash (Cyrus), and Darayawash (Darius), and Arathachashashathaa (Artaxerxes) malak (king) of Paras (Persia).

15 Dan (this) bayath (house) was yatzaa (go out / come out) on the thalath (third) yawam (day) of the yarach (month) Adar (Adar), which was in the shath (sixth) shanah (year) of the malakaw (reign) of Darayawash (Darius) the malakaw (king).

16 The banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel), the kahanay (priests), and the Laway (Levites), and the shaar (rest) of the banay (children) of the galawath (captivity), kept the chanakaa (dedication) of dan (this) bayath (house) of Alahayam () with chadawah (joy).

17 They offered at the chanakaa (dedication) of dan (this) bayath (house) of Alahayam () one maah (hundred) bulls, two maah (hundred) dakarayan (rams), arabai (four) maah (hundred) amarayan (lambs); and for a chatayaa (sin) offering for kal (every) Yashar-Al (Israel), tharayan (twelve) male izayan (goats), according to the manayan (number) of the shabatay (tribes) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

18 They qawam (rise up) the kahanay (priests) in their palagah (divisions), and the Laway (Levites) in their courses, for the ibayadah (service) of Alahayam (), which is at Yarawashalam (Jerusalem); as it is kathab (write) in the sapar (book) of Mashah (Moses).

19 The banay (my son) of the gawalah (captivity) ishah (make) the pasach (passover) on the fourteenth day of the raashawan (first) chadash (month).

20 For the kahanayam (priests) and the Lawayay (Levites) had tahar (purified) themselves achad (one); all of them were tahawar (pure): and they shachat (killed) the pasach (passover) for all the banay (my son) of the gawalah (captivity), and for their ach (brother/kinsman) the kahanayam (priests), and for themselves.

21 The banay (children) of Yashar-Al (Israel) who had shawab (turn back / repent) again out of the gawalah (captivity), and all such as had badal (separated) themselves to them from the tamaah (filthiness) of the gaway (heathen / nation) of the aratz (Earth/land), to darash (seek) Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), akal (eat),

22 And ishah (make) the chag (feast/festival) of unleavened matzah (bread) shabai (seven) yamayam (days) with shamachah (joy): for Yahawah () shamach (had) made them joyful, and had sabab (turned) the lab (heart) of the malak (king) of Ashawar (Assyria) to them, to chazaq (strengthen) their yad (hand) in the malaakah (work) of the bayath (house) of Alahayam (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel).
