Ezra 7 — English–Hebrew Parallel

1 Now achar (other) these things, in the malakawath (reign) of Arathachashashathaa (Artaxerxes) malak (king) of Paras (Persia), Izaraa (Ezra) the ban (son) of Sharayah (Seraiah), the ban (son) of Izarayah (Azariah), the ban (son) of Chalaqayah (Hilkiah),

2 The ban (son) of Shalawam (peace / safety), the ban (son) of Tzadawaq (Zadok), the ban (son) of Achayatawab (Ahitub),

3 The ban (son) of Amarayah (Amariah), the ban (son) of Izarayah (Azariah), the ban (son) of Marayawath (Meraioth),

4 The ban (son) of Zarachayah (Zerahiah), the ban (son) of Izay (Uzzi), the ban (son) of Baqay (Bukki),

5 The ban (son) of Abayashawai (Abishua), the ban (son) of Payanachas (Phinehas), the ban (son) of Alaizar (Eleazar), the ban (son) of Aharawan (Aaron) the raash (head) kahan (priest);

6 This Izaraa (man) ilah (go up / offer) up from Babal (Babylon): and he was a mahayar (ready) sapar (book) in the thawarah (instruction) of Mashah (Moses), which Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), nathan (give) given; and the malak (king) nathan (give) him all his baqashah (request), according to the yad (hand) of Yahawah () his Alahayam () on him.

8 He bawaa (bring) to Yarawashalam (Yarawashalam / Jerusalem) in the chamayashay (fifth) chadash (month), which was in the shabayaiy (seventh) shanah (year) of the malak (king).

9 For on the achad (one) day of the raashawan (first) chadash (month) yasad (began) he to mailah (ascent/climbing up) up from Babal (Babylon); and on the achad (one) day of the chamayashay (fifth) chadash (month) bawaa (come) he to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), according to the tawab (good / proper function) yad (hand) of his Alahayam () on him.

10 For he had kawan (set) his labab (heart) to darash (seek) the thawarah (instruction) of Yahawah (), and to ishah (make) it, and to lamad (teach / instruct) in Yashar-Al (Israel) chaq (statute) and mashapat (ordinances).

11 Now this is the parashagan (copy) of the nashathawan (letter) that the malak (king) Arathachashashathaa (Artaxerxes) nathan (give) to Izaraa (Ezra) the kahan (priest), the sapar (book), even the sapar (book) of the dabaray (words) of the matzawath (commandments) of Yahawah (), and of his chaq (statute) to Yashar-Al (Israel):

13 I shawam (place / establish / appoint) a taim (decree), that kal (every) those of the im (nation / people) of Yashar-Al (Israel), and their kahan (priest) and the Laway (Levites), in my malakaw (realm), who are nadab (minded) of their own free will to hawak (go) to Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), hawak (go) with you.

14 Because you are shalach (sent) of the malak (king) and his shabaih (seven) counselors, to baqar (morning) il (over) Yahawad (Judah) and Yarawashalam (Jerusalem), according to the dath (law) of your Alahayam () which is in your yad (hand),

15 And to yabal (carry) the kasap (silver) and dahab (gold), which the malak (king) and his counselors have nadab (freely) offered to the Alahayam () of Yashar-Al (Israel), whose mashakan (habitation) is in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem),

16 And kal (every) the kasap (silver) and dahab (gold) that you shall shakach (find) in kal (every) the madayanah (province) of Babal (Babylon), with the freewill nadab (offering) of the im (nation / people), and of the kahanay (priests), nadab (offering) willingly for the bayath (house) of their Alahayam () which is in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem);

17 Therefore you shall with all diligence qanaa (jealous) with dan (this) kasap (money) bulls, dakarayan (rams), amarayan (lambs), with their meal manachah (offerings) and their drink nasak (offerings), and shall offer them on the madabach (altar) of the bayath (house) of your Alahayam () which is in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem).

18 Whatever shall seem yatab (good) to you and to your ach (brother/kinsman) to ibad (servant) with the shaar (rest) of the kasap (silver) and the dahab (gold), ibad (servant) that after the raiwath (will) of your Alahayam ().

19 The maanay (vessels) that are yahab (given) to you for the palachan (service) of the bayath (house) of your Alahayam (), shalam (deliver) qadam (before) the Alahayam () of Yarawashalam (Jerusalem).

20 Whatever more shall be chashachawath (needful) for the bayath (house) of your Alahayam (), which you shall napal (fall / be cast down) occasion to nathan (give), nathan (give) it out of the malak (king) ganaz (treasure) bayath (house).

21 I, even I Arathachashashathaa (Artaxerxes) the malak (king), do shawam (place / establish / appoint) a taim (decree) to kal (every) the gazabaray (treasurers) who are Ibar (beyond) the nahar (river), that whatever Izaraa (Ezra) the kahan (priest), the sapar (book) of the dath (law) of the Alahayam () of shamayan (heaven), shall shaal (require) of you, it be ibad (servant) with all diligence,

22 To one maah (hundred) kakarayan (talents) of kasap (silver), and to one maah (hundred) karayan (measures) of chanataa (wheat), and to one maah (hundred) bathayan (baths) of chamar (wine), and to one maah (hundred) bathayan (baths) of mashach (oil), and malach (salt) laa (NOT) kathab (write) how much.

23 Whatever is commanded by the Alahayam () of shamayan (heaven), let it be ibad (servant) exactly for the bayath (house) of the Alahayam () of shamayan (heaven); for mah (why) should there be qatzap (wrath) il (over) the malakaw (realm) of the malak (king) and his ban (son)?

24 Also we inform you, that touching any of the kahanay (priests) and Laway (Levites), the zamaray (singers), tharaiy (porters), nathayan (nethinim), or palachay (servants) of dan (this) bayath (house) of Alahayam (), it shall not be shalayat (lawful) to ramah (impose) balaw (tribute), halak (move), or madah (toll), on them.

25 You, Izaraa (Ezra), after the chakamah (wisdom) of your Alahayam () who is in your yad (hand), appoint shapatayan (magistrates) and dayanayan (judges), who may hawaa (which/who/that is) kal (every) the im (nation / people) who are Ibar (beyond) the nahar (river), kal (every) such as yadai (know) the dathay (laws) of your Alahayam (); and yadai (teach) him who doesn't yadai (know) them.

26 Whoever will not hawaa (which/who/that is) the dath (law) of your Alahayam (), and the dath (law) of the malak (king), let dayan (judge) be ibad (servant) on him with all diligence, han (behold) it be to mawath (death), or to sharashaw (banishment), or to inash (confiscation) of nakasayan (goods), or to asawar (imprisonment).

27 Barak (blessed) be Yahawah (), the Alahayam () of our ab (father), who nathan (give) put such a thing as this in the malak (king) lab (heart), to paar (beautify) the bayath (house) of Yahawah () which is in Yarawashalam (Jerusalem);

28 And has natah (extended) loving chasad (grace) to me panayam (face) the malak (king), and his yaitz (counselors), and before all the malak (king) gabawar (mighty) sharay (princes). I was chazaq (strengthened) according to the yad (hand) of Yahawah () my Alahayam () on me, and I qabatz (gathered) together out of Yashar-Al (Israel) raash (head) men to ilah (go up / offer) up with me.
