Genesis 2 — English–Hebrew Parallel

The shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens) and the aratz (Earth/land) were kalah (complete / finish), and all their vast array.

On the shabayaiy (seventh) yawam (day) Alahayam () kalah (complete / finish) his malaakah (work) which he ishah (make) made; and he shabath (shabath / rest) on the shabayaiy (seventh) yawam (day) from all his malaakah (work) which he ishah (make) made.

Alahayam () barak (blessed) the shabayaiy (seventh) yawam (day), and made it qadash (set apart / make holy), kay (surely) he shabath (shabath / rest) in it from all his malaakah (work) which he had baraa (created) and ishah (make).

This is the history of the thawaladawath (generations) of the shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens) and of the aratz (Earth/land) when they were baraa (created), in the yawam (day) that Yahawah () Alahayam () ishah (make) the aratz (Earth/land) and the shamayam (Shamayam / Heavens).

No shayach (plant) of the shadah (field) was yet in the aratz (Earth/land), and no ishab (herb) of the shadah (field) had yet tzamach (sprung) up; for Yahawah () Alahayam () had not caused it to matar (rain) on the aratz (Earth/land). There was not a adam (man) to ibad (servant) the adamah (ground),

But a ad (mist) ilah (go up / offer) up from the aratz (Earth/land), and shaqah (watered) the whole surface of the adamah (ground).

Yahawah () Alahayam () yatzar (formed) adam (man) from the ipar (dust) of the adamah (ground), and napach (breathed) into his ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting) the nashamah (breathing thing) of chay (life); and adam (man) became a chay (life) napash (soul).

Yahawah () Alahayam () natai (planted) a gan (garden) eastward, in Idan (Eden), and there he shawam (place / establish / appoint) the adam (man) whom he had yatzar (formed).

Out of the adamah (ground) Yahawah () Alahayam () tzamach (made) every itz (tree) to tzamach (grow) that is chamad (pleasant) to the maraah (sight), and tawab (good / proper function) for maakal (food); the itz (tree) of chay (life) also in the thawak (midst) of the gan (garden), and the itz (tree) of the daith (knowledge) of tawab (good / proper function) and rai (evil).

A nahar (river) yatzaa (go out / come out) out of Idan (Idan / Eden) to shaqah (water) the gan (garden); and from there it was parad (parted), and became arabai (four) raashayam (heads).

The sham (name) of the achad (one) is Payashawan (Pishon): hawaa (which/who/that is) is the sabab (one) which flows through the whole aratz (Earth/land) of Chawayalah (Havilah), ashar (who/that) there is zahab (gold);

And the zahab (gold) of that aratz (Earth/land) is tawab (good / proper function). There is aromatic resin and the shaham (Onyx) aban (stone).

The sham (name) of the shanay (second) nahar (river) is Gayachawan (Gihon): the same sabab (river) that flows through the whole aratz (Earth/land) of Kawash (Cush).

The sham (name) of the shalayashay (third) nahar (river) is Chadaqal (Hiddekel): this is the halak (move) which flows in front of Ashawar (Assyria). The rabayaiy (fourth) nahar (river) is the Parath (Euphrates).

Yahawah () Alahayam () laqach (take / seize) the adam (man), and yanach (put) him into the gan (garden) of Idan (Eden) to ibad (servant) it and to shamar (keep/guard) it.

Yahawah () Alahayam () tzawah (commanded) the adam (man), amar (spoke), “Of every itz (tree) of the gan (garden) you may akal (eat) akal (eat);

But of the itz (tree) of the daith (knowledge) of tawab (good / proper function) and rai (evil), you shall not akal (eat) of it; for in the yawam (day) that you akal (eat) of it you will mawath (death) mawath (death).”

Yahawah () Alahayam () amar (spoke), “It is not tawab (good / proper function) that the adam (man) should be alone; I will ishah (make) him a helper suitable for him.”

Out of the adamah (ground) Yahawah () Alahayam () yatzar (formed) every animal of the shadah (field), and every iwap (flying) of the sky, and bawaa (come) them to the adam (man) to raah (see) what he would qaraa (called) them. Whatever the adam (man) qaraa (called) every chay (life) napash (soul), that was its sham (name).

The adam (man) gave shamawath (names) to all livestock, and to the iwap (flying) of the sky, and to every animal of the shadah (field); but for adam (man) there was not matzaa (found) a helper suitable for him.

Yahawah () Alahayam () napal (fall / be cast down) a tharadamah (deep) sleep to napal (fall / be cast down) on the Adam (man), and he yashan (slept); and he laqach (take / seize) achad (one) of his tzalai (ribs), and sagar (closed) up the bashar (flesh) in its place.

He banah (build) the tzalai (rib), which Yahawah () Alahayam () had laqach (take / seize) from the adam (man), into a ayashah (woman / wife), and bawaa (come) her to the adam (man).

The adam (man) amar (spoke), zaath (this) is paim (now) itzam (bone) of my itzam (bones), and bashar (flesh) of my bashar (flesh). She will be qaraa (called) ‘ayashah (woman / wife),’ because she was laqach (take / seized) out of ayash (man/ husband).

Therefore a ayash (man / husband) will izab (leave) his ab (father) and his am (mother), and will join with his ayashah (woman / wife), and they will be achad (one) bashar (flesh).

They were shanayam (two) irawam (naked), the adam (man) and his ayashah (woman / wife), and were not bawash (ashamed).
