1 Shakam (early) in the baqar (morning), Laban (Laban) shakam (rose) up, and nashaq (kissed) his ban (son) and his banath (daughter), and barak (blessed) them. Laban (Laban) departed and shawab (turn) to his maqawam (place).
2 Yaiqab (Jacob) yalak (went) on his yalak (way), and the angels of Alahayam () ban (son) him.
3 When he saw them, Yaiqab (Jacob) said, “This is Alahayam () army.” He called the name of that halak (move) Machanayam (Mahanaim).
4 Yaiqab (Jacob) sent messengers in front of him to Ishaw (Esau), his brother, to the land of Shaiyar (Seir), the field of Adawam (Edom).
5 He commanded them, saying, “This is what you shall tell my Adawan (), Ishaw (Esau): ‘This is what your servant, Yaiqab (Jacob), says. I have lived as a foreigner with Laban (), and stayed until now.
6 I have cattle, donkeys, flocks, male ibad (servant), and female ibad (servant). I have tzawah (sent) to amar (spoke) my Adawan (), that I may find favor in your sight.’”
7 The nagad (messengers) returned to Yaiqab (Jacob), saying, “We hayah (came to pass) to your brother Ishaw (Esau). Not only that, but he hayah (came to pass) to matzaa (meet) you, and four hundred men with him.”
8 Then Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) was greatly afraid and was distressed. He divided the ayash (man / husband) who were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;
9 And he said, “If Ishaw (Esau) comes to the one machanah (company), and strikes it, then the machanah (company) which is left will escape.”
10 Yaiqab (Jacob) amar (spoke), “Alahayam () of my father Abaraham (Abraham), and Alahayam () of my father Yatzachaq (Isaac), Yahawah (), who amar (spoke) to me, ‘Return to your country, and to your relatives, and I will do you good,’
11 I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses, and of all the truth, which you yatab (have) shown to your servant; for with just my staff I passed over this Yaradan (Jordan); and now I have become two companies.
12 Please ibar (pass over/through) me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Ishaw (Esau): for I fear him, lest he ibar (pass over/through) and strike me, and the mothers with the children.
13 You said, ‘I will natzal (surely) do you good, and nakah (make) your seed as the sand of the sea, which can't be numbered because there are so many.’”
14 He lodged there that night, and shawam (place / establish / appoint) from that which he yatab (had) with him, a present for Ishaw (Esau), his brother:
15 Two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,
16 Thirty milk camels and their colts, forty cows, ten bulls, isharayam (twenty) female donkeys and ten foals.
17 He delivered them into the hands of his ban (son), every herd by itself, and said to his ban (son), “Pass over before me, and put a space between herd and herd.”
18 He amar (spoke) the foremost, amar (spoke), “When Ishaw (Esau), my brother, meets you, and asks you, amar (spoke), ‘Whose are you? Where are you going? Whose are these panayam (face) you?’
19 Then you shall amar (spoke), ‘They are your servant, Jacob's. It is a present tzawah (sent) to my Adawan (), Ishaw (Esau). Behold, he also is behind us.’”
20 He commanded also the second, and the third, and all that achar (other) the herds, amar (said), “This is how you shall amar (said) to Ishaw (Esau), when you find him.
21 You shall say, ‘Not only that, but behold, your servant, Yaiqab (Jacob), is achar (other) us.’” For, he amar (spoke), “I will appease him with the matzaa (present) that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.”
22 So the manachah (present) panayam (face) over panayam (face) him, and he himself lodged that night in the camp.
23 He rose up that layal (night), and ibar (pass over/through) his two wives, and his two handmaids, and his eleven sons, and ibar (pass over/through) over the ford of the Yabaq (Jabbok).
24 He laqach (take / seize) them, and laqach (take / seize) them over the stream, and ibar (pass over/through) over that which he had.
25 Yaiqab (Jacob) was left alone, and wrestled with a ibar (pass over/through) there until the breaking of the day.
26 When he saw that he didn't prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) thigh was strained, as he abaq (wrestled).
27 The man said, “raah (see) me go, for the day breaks.” Yaiqab (Jacob) said, “I won't raah (see) you go, unless you bless me.”
28 He amar (spoke) to him, “What is your amar (spoke)?” He amar (spoke), “Yaiqab (Jacob)”.
29 He amar (spoke), “Your sham (name) will no longer be amar (spoke) Yaiqab (Jacob), but Yashar-Al (Israel); for you have fought with Alahayam () and with men, and have prevailed.”
30 Yaiqab (Jacob - Patriarch) asked him, “Please amar (said) me your sham (name).” He amar (said), “Why is it that you ask what my sham (name) is?” He blessed him there.
31 Yaiqab (Jacob) amar (spoke) the sham (name) of the place Panawaal (Peniel): for, he said, “I have seen Alahayam () face to face, and my life is preserved.”
32 The sun rose on him as he panayam (face) over Panawaal (Peniel), and he limped because of his thigh.
