Hosea 1 — English–Hebrew Parallel

The dabar (word / matter) of Yahawah () that came to Hawashai (Hosea) the ban (son) of Baaray (Beeri), in the yamay (days) of Izayah (Uzziah), Yawatham (Jotham), Achaz (Ahaz), and Chazaqayah (Hezekiah), malakay (kings) of Yahawadah (Judah), and in the yamay (days) of Yarabaim (Jeroboam) the ban (son) of Yawaash (Joash), malak (king) of Yashar-Al (Israel).

When Yahawah () amar (spoke) at thachalah (first) by Hawashai (Hosea), Yahawah () amar (spoke) to Hawashai (Hosea), “yalak (go), laqach (take / seize) for yourself a ayashah (woman / wife) of prostitution and yaladay (children) of unfaithfulness; for the aratz (Earth/land) zanah (commits) great adultery, forsaking Yahawah ().”

So he yalak (went) and laqach (take / seize) Gamar (Gomer) the banath (daughter) of Dabalayam (Diblaim); and she harah (conceived), and yalad (birth / begot) him a ban (son).

Yahawah () amar (spoke) to him, “qaraa (called) his sham (name) Yazaraial (Jezreel); for yet a mait (little) while, and I will paqad (visit) the dam (blood) of Yazaraial (Jezreel) on the bayath (house) of Yahawaa (Jehu), and will cause the mamalakawath (kingdom) of the bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel) to shabath (shabath / rest).

It will happen in that yawam (day) that I will shabar (break) the qashath (bow) of Yashar-Al (Israel) in the imaq (valley) of Yazaraial (Jezreel).”

She harah (conceived) again, and yalad (birth / begot) a banath (daughter). Then he amar (said) to him, “qaraa (called) her sham (name) laarachamah (lo-ruhamah); for I will no longer have racham (show mercy / love) on the bayath (house) of Yashar-Al (Israel), that I should in any way nashaa (lift) them.

But I will have racham (show mercy / love) on the bayath (house) of Yahawadah (Judah), and will yashai (salvation) them by Yahawah () their Alahayam (), and will not yashai (salvation) them by qashath (bow), charab (sword), malachamah (battle), sawasayam (horses), or horsemen.”

Now when she had weaned laarachamah (lo-ruhamah), she harah (conceived), and yalad (birth / begot) a ban (son).

He amar (said), “qaraa (called) his sham (name) laaimay (lo-ammi); for you are not my im (nation / people), and I will not be yours.

"Amar (said) to your brothers, ‘My im (nation / people)!' And to your sisters, ‘My loved one!'

Contend with your mother! Contend, for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband; and let her shawam (place / establish / appoint) away her prostitution from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
