1 When Aparayam (Ephraim) dabar (word / matter), there was rathath (trembling). He nashaa (lift) himself in Yashar-Al (Israel), but when he became asham (guilty) in Bail (Baal), he mawath (death).
2 Now they chataa (sin) more and more, and ishah (make) made themselves masakah (molten) images of their kasap (silver), even itzabayam (idols) according to their own thabawan (understanding), all of them the maishah (work) of the craftsmen. They amar (said) of them, ‘They offer human zabach (sacrifice) and nashaq (kiss) the calves.’
3 Therefore they will be like the baqar (morning) mist, and like the tal (dew) that passes halak (move) shakam (early), like the matz (chaff) that is sair (driven) with the whirlwind out of the garan (threshing) floor, and like the ishan (smoke) out of the arabah (chimney).
4 And I, Yahawah () your Alahayam () MaAratz (from the land of) Matzarayam (Matzarayam / Egypt) and alahayam (other gods) zawalah (besides / except) Me, you have LAA (NOT) yadai (known) , and ayan (there is no) yashai (salvation) balathay (without) Me.
5 I yadai (knew) you in the madabar (wilderness), in the aratz (Earth/land) of thalaawabah (great) drought.
6 According to their maraiyath (pasture), so were they shabai (filled); they were shabai (filled), and their lab (heart) was rawam (will lift up). Therefore they have shakach (forgotten) me.
7 Therefore I am like a shachal (lion) to them. Like a namar (leopard), I will lurk by the darak (path).
8 I will pagash (meet) them like a dab (bear) that is shakawal (bereaved) of her cubs, and will qarai (tear) the covering of their lab (heart). There I will akal (eat) them like a labayaa (lioness). The shadah (wild) animal will baqai (tear) them.
9 You are shachath (destroyed), Yashar-Al (Israel), because you are against me, against your izar (help).
10 Apaw (where) is your malak (king) now, that he may yashai (salvation) you in all your iyar (cities)? And your shapat (judge / judgement), of whom you amar (said), ‘nathan (give) me a malak (king) and sharayam (princes)?’
11 I nathan (give) given you a malak (king) in my ap (nostril / picture: bull snorting), and have laqach (take / seize) him away in my ibarah (wrath).
12 The iwan (guilt/iniquity) of Aparayam (Ephraim) is stored up. His chataah (sin) is stored up.
13 The chabalay (sorrows) of a travailing yalad (birth / begot) will bawaa (bring) on him. He is an unwise ban (son); for when it is ith (time), he doesn't come to the opening of the womb.
14 I will padah (ransom) them from the yad (hand) of shaawal (Sheol / afterlife). I will gaal (redeem) them from mawath (death)! Mawath (death), where are your dabar (word / matter)? Shaawal (Sheol / afterlife), where is your qatab (destruction)? “Compassion ahay (will) be sathar (hidden) from my iyan (eye).
15 Though he is paraa (fruitful) among his achayam (brothers), an east qadayam (wind) will bawaa (come), the rawach (spirit / wind) of Yahawah () ilah (go up / offer) up from the madabar (wilderness); and his maqawar (spring) will bawash (become) dry, and his maiyan (fountain) will be charab (dried) up. He will plunder the storehouse of awatzar (treasure).
16 Yashar-Al (Israel), return to Yahawah () your Alahayam (); for you have napal (fall / be cast down) because of your sin.
