1 The mashaa (burden) of Mawaab (Moab): for in a layal (night), Ir (Ar) of Mawaab (Moab) is laid shadad (waste), and damah (brought) to nothing; for in a layal (night) Qayar (Kir) of Mawaab (Moab) is laid shadad (waste), and damah (brought) to nothing.
2 They have ilah (go up / offer) up to Bayath (Bayith), and to Dayabawan (Dibon), to the bamah (high) places, to bakay (weep). Mawaab (Moab) wails over Nabaw (Nebo) and over May-Dabaa (Medeba). Qarachah (baldness) is on all of their raash (head). Every zaqan (beard) is ilah (go up / offer) off.
3 In their chawatz (streets), they clothe themselves in sackcloth. In their rachab (streets) and on their housetops, everyone wails, bakay (weeping) yarad (abundantly).
4 Chashabawan (Heshbon) zaiq (cries) out with Alailaa (Elealeh). Their qawal (sound / voice) is shamai (hearken / hear) even to Yahatz (Jahaz). Therefore the chalatz (armed) men of Mawaab (Moab) rawai (cry) aloud. Their napash (soul) tremble within them.
5 My lab (heart) zaiq (cries) out for Mawaab (Moab)! Her nobles flee to Tzair (Zoar), to Eglath Shelishiyah; for they go up by the ascent of Lawachayath (Luhith) with bakay (weeping); for in the darak (way) of Charanayam (Horonaim), they ilah (go up / offer) up a zaiq (cry) of shabar (destruction).
6 For the may (waters) of Namarayam (Nimrim) will be mashamah (desolate); for the dashaa (grass) has yabash (dry land) away, the tender dashaa (grass) kalah (complete / finish), there is no yaraq (green) thing.
7 Therefore they will carry away the yatharah (abundance) they ishah (make) gotten, and that which they have stored up, over the nachal (stream / river) of the irabayam (willows).
8 For the zaiq (cry) has naqap (gone) around the gabawal (border/boundary) of Mawaab (Moab); its wailing to Agalayam (Eglaim), and its wailing to Baaraalayam (Beer Elim).
9 For the may (waters) of Dayamawan (Dimon) are malaa (full) of dam (blood); for I will shayath (put / appoint / make) yet more on Dayamawan (Dimon), a aray (lion) on those of Mawaab (Moab) who palayatah (escape), and on the shaarayath (remnant) of the adamah (land).
